Avatar Online Chapter 28

Liu Ye didn't even finish his reminder when the exact event happened— something slammed into the side of their limousine. Despite being armored, their car flipped upside down and slid on its roof.
Everything happened so fast that Liu Ye had no chance to react.
"Xu Yue!" Liu Ye called out in worry as he found her lying with shattered glass all around her. Even though they had their differences, he would never wish her any harm.
His seat belt popped with a click and he rushed to her side to check her condition. Thankfully, she only had a single bloody scratch on her arm without any obvious injuries.
"Fuck, that hurt," Xu Yue cursed as she sat up while rubbing her head. "I'm definitely getting bruises after this one."
"Are you okay?" Liu Ye asked to make sure as he swept the glass away. "Watch where you place your hand."
Xu Yue glanced at him suspiciously and joked, "Do I need to get hurt for you to care for me? If so, I will get hurt more often."
He ignored it completely and let go of her, crouching down to look out of the window. Even though it was cracked, he could see the front of a big truck that hit them. He was about to claim it was an accident when he spotted something amiss.
"Get your gun fast!" Liu Ye ordered hurriedly as he reached out to the hidden compartment under the seats.
"Don't tell me…" Xu Yue muttered in surprise and Liu Ye nodded, pulling out multiple metal suitcases. "Yes, we are under attack."
The truck that hit them had dark windows and it was fully armored with its front strengthened. It was designed to ram through barriers or in this case, cars. To make it worse, he spotted multiple people rushing out of the truck with full gear on their bodies and assault rifles in their hands.
This was not a joke anymore.
"Damn, couldn't they come around noon at least? I'm barely awake for this shit," Xu Yue questioned annoyed, and rushed to Liu Ye's seat. "I have two bullet-proof vests here."
Only Xu Yue would be able to laugh at her own assassination attempt.
Liu Ye was already in the middle of assembling his gear consisting of two 9mm Berettas with six 15-rounds magazines. He was surprised they were in the same condition as he left them. Xu Yue must have ordered to clean them often, which came in handy now.
"Quick, wear one," Xu Yue passed him one of the vests and helped button it with a smile. "Just like the last time?"

The whole scene looked extremely similar to what they went through almost two years ago. That time they acted more disorganized and panicked compared to today. The constant dangers over time caused them to mature faster than others.
"I will take the right," Liu Ye nodded while passing her one of the guns and two spare magazines. "Kill as many as you can."
Click.
Xu Yue loaded her gun and pursed her lips. "Are you doubting me? Did you forget who taught you how to shoot?"
She crouched next to the window and suggested, "The one with more kills gets one wish."
Liu Ye's eyebrow twitched as she started her favorite game but he didn't back down from the challenge.
"Don't cry later," Liu Ye replied confidently as he lay on the opposite side.
He could already see four pairs of legs on his side working on the locked door. Opening them from outside wasn't as simple as it sounded. One needed multiple explosives to break inside Xu Yue's armored car while they only needed a small force to break out.
Liu Ye waited for Xu Yue's signal and when she tapped his back with her leg, he counted three seconds. They always believed the best defense was an attack.
Crack!
The window exploded with a hit of his pistol and Liu Ye shot without hesitation
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He shot thrice at their legs before pulling another trigger as he aimed at the fourth person's head. The masked man was already aiming back with his rifle but Liu Ye was first, ragdolling him back with a single bullet.
"Fuck!" the man closest to him cursed as he dropped in front of the window only to be finished with a precise headshot.
Liu Ye wasn't Deadpool so he grabbed the corpse by the vest and pulled him against the window just as two rifles sprayed at the car. The man's back instantly turned into a swiss cheese but something else distracted Liu Ye's mind.
'Military-grade?' Liu Ye wondered as he inspected the gear. He recognized the logo on the gun as well as the vest, exposing their origin.
It seemed like it wasn't just a simple payback of Xu Yue's enemy but rather an organized attack from someone with connections in the military. Contrary to appearances, Liu Ye knew how hard it was to even get a gun in this country, not to mention a full military gear.
He snatched the smoke grenade attached to the belt and threw it out. Just as the men stopped shooting, Liu Ye shot three times, correcting one bullet that only grazed a cheek.

'Rusty…' Liu Ye thought as he reloaded his magazine and slid outside while using a body as a shield.
Bang!
He already aimed at the next target but before he pulled the trigger, his head got knocked back from an unknown bullet.
"Six!" Xu Yue called out happily as she rushed to the other truck.
She was stealing his kills!
Even though she was cheating, Liu Ye couldn't help but be impressed. They were in the middle of the intersection with two trucks blocking them from their sides. While he was busy with one, she already killed five men before even taking one of his own.
He walked towards the truck only to see a man run out of the passenger seat, trying to escape.
"Arrgh!" he cried from a quick bullet in his calf. "Wait! Don't kill me!"
He threw his rifle away and raised his arms in the air to surrender.
"Face down! Don't move or you are dead!" Liu Ye warned as he kicked the rifle away and pulled out his secondary pistol. He checked the man's face but it wasn't anyone he knew.
"How many of you are there?!" Liu Ye interrogated while staying vigilant.
The traffic completely stopped and many civilians were either hiding in their cars or running away. He had no idea if there were any more enemies within the crown.
"Six for each truck!" the man replied immediately. "I will tell you everything! Don't shoot!"
Liu Ye couldn't trust him fully so he checked the back of the truck to confirm. Finding it empty, he returned to the man just as Xu Yue came back. She led him while aiming at the back of its head.
"I found one more in the drive—" Xu Yue called out only to stop herself halfway, seeing Liu Ye also had one. "Oh, I guess this one is not needed."
Bang!
She didn't hesitate to push him forward and pull the trigger, executing him on the spot. Her eyes knew no mercy when it came to her enemies and her lips even curved in a smile.
"Congrats, you just got yourself in the news," Liu Ye praised, knowing very well people were recording them. "We should get going before the police come."
"Sure," Xu Yue nodded as she kicked the man on the side. "Talk! Who hired you to kill us?"
"Ah! I don't know the full name! We were given weapons and instructions but we didn't meet with the client. Our Boss was calling him Master Yang and told us it's a high-paying job from someone important," the man explained in panic. "It's my first job so I wasn't told much! That's all I know!"
Liu Ye frowned. He has never heard of anyone named Master Yang and looking at Xu Yue, she didn't either. "What were the instructions?"
Knowing Xu Yue's status, the answer should have been obvious but they were shocked by the sudden twist.
"He asked us to kidnap you," the man revealed. "Boss said we will get paid more if you are alive but we would still get paid if we only bring back your body."
"The fuck…?" Liu Ye couldn't be more confused. "Why would someone pay for my body?"
"We were only hired to get you. We didn't ask why," the man replied as he winced from the pain. "Please, my leg is bleeding. I told you everything."
"How did you know I was in this car?" Liu Ye questioned as his face darkened. He didn't want to think about the worst-case scenarios but it was getting close.
"We have observed you for a few days already. We were told you were dangerous so we took it seriously. When we figured out your daily pattern, we planned to strike today on your way to work but we didn't expect you to use transport. We thought we got discovered so we improvised," the man explained while holding back his pain.
"Who is your boss?" Liu Ye asked coldly. They could hear the police sirens from afar which cut their interrogation time.
"I can't tell you that! He will kill me!" The man denied as he begged, "Please, I have two kids and my wife is pregnant! I told you everything I can!"
"It doesn't matter," Liu Ye replied with a stone-like expression as he aimed his pistol at his head. "You saw my sister."
He was about to pull the trigger when Xu Yue grasped onto his sleeve, causing him to look up. His whole body shuddered when the angel he swore to protect was standing in the middle of the street. Her whole body was shaking as she looked at him with fear.
"Big Bro!"

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)
