Tensei Oujo wa Kyou mo Hata o Tatakioru Chapter 1

I, Rosemary von Verphalt, was born as the first princess of the Kingdom of Nebel. I bear the memories of my previous life, that is, my previous life.

I mean, I’m a reincarnation of another person from another life. Yes.

I think there’s no need to go into details about that memory. To explain it briefly, I was a victim of a traffic accident, where I blacked out. When I woke up, I was a baby. A light novel?

I grew up quickly and turned three years old without suffering from any serious illness. When I finally learned how to speak of my country’s name, my father’s name, and then my own name correctly, I tilted my head.

My mind was boggled with a thought, and then it hit me. This world is wrapped up in settings and configurations of otome games. A light novel?

Same country, same world, a group of young boys identical to the features of the capture targets. While I was named after the sub character that came up as the heroine’s rival.

There were too many similarities for me to pass it off as a mere coincidence.

[…. This sucks.]

I muttered involuntarily and heaved a deep sigh.

While thinking, I thought I was really lucky that my maids didn’t see me. A three-year old sighing and mourning with distant eyes was too surreal.

Although knowing that this world resembles that world of otome games, I wasn’t excited at all. Not a little bit.

And the reason was simple. Because this game was famous for being a shitty game.

I’m certain of the title, [Welcome to the Reverse World.]

The story is about a high school girl, the protagonist, who was summoned to a different world as a Miko-hime (Priestess) to bring down the Dark Lord and restore world peace.

The plot of the story is pretty cliche, so there isn’t much to comment on.

The problem is the character setup.

The “Reverse World” in the title does not just refer to another world. It has double meaning, which pertains to the two-faced nature of every capture target.

That much, I could deal with. There is even no complaint about this world being a carbon copy of that otome game.

No, the main issue was that the unique value proposition of the “two-faced” was too disappointing.

The second prince was a siscon. The nobleman was a narcissist. The escort knight was an extreme masochist. The mage was a corpse enthusiast. The assassin was gay. As for the Priest, he was said to be a yandere, but also has endless desires for ruin, even though he was supposed to be the natural enemy of the Dark Lord and the one who summoned the Priestess.

It was a good example of a failure because of it being too pedantic. In a normal world, if someone were to encounter something similar, he wouldn’t want to get involved, and it would be the stage where he turns tail and sprints away as far as possible.

The love interest I went after at the very beginning was a noble. But the moment I had a taste of his narcissism, my heart quickly lost interest. The heroine was truly an angel for she listened seriously to the advice that stupid man. Either that or I thought with a straight face that she must have the qualities of a caregiver.

Fueled by the desire to sell back the game as soon as possible, I managed to reach the ending. The moment he saw the heroine in her white wedding dress at the wedding ceremony, the narcissist only had one thing to say, “How beautiful… My reflection in your eyes.“ I immediately threw my controller to the floor.

How stupid. The scriptwriter must have been too stupid.

When I thought that it’s finally good and dead, they just had to make the ending scene fade to black with those horrible words. If they were trying to play a romance game, all the twists and turns they’ve just done so far all ended with one word “farce.”

Every character played similarly from beginning to end, and there was no tokimeki anywhere. There’s no gushing moe that has been expected from the onset, but instead the desire to murder. I thought I’ve been through a whole new set of stress test.

By the way, the impressions of everyone on the net were not much different from mine. Still, there were reasons why none of us gave up on the game.

However, at the same time, Welcome to the Reverse World….. Uraceka in short, is the biggest reason why it was called a shitty game.

There were people called sub characters that brought color to the story beyond the sparkling good looks that were the only appeal of the main characters.

Of course, they are not capture targets, so they didn’t have deep involvement with the heroine. Depending on the route, some of those sub characters didn’t even get their names come up.

For some reason, though, they made all assortments of hunk capture targets.

And most importantly, their characters are also very good. I swear, they were exceedingly decent.

The first prince is levelheaded and intelligent. The uncle of that narcissist noble is calm and gentle.

The Commander of the Royal Knight Guards is an Adonis. The corpse enthusiast mage is passionate and hardworking.

The employee at the restaurant who changed jobs from being an assassin is a feminist who is generally kind and indulges all women. The Priest’s elder sister is a stunning woman who is prone to taking care of others.

I wanted to take an hour to interrogate the game designers, how the hell did they develop the game in this way?!

The specs of non capture targets were higher than those for capture targets, what am I supposed to do?

That’s why, I persisted in playing the game despite the frustration. There’s this glimmer of hope that perhaps by clearing the capture targets, I might be able to open routes for the sub characters.

However, heartlessly, there was no lock to be unlocked. Or rather, there was no lock in the first place.

Despite being buried in despair, I persevered. I might be able to dig up even just one of those hidden characters.

From what I’ve gathered from the net, after the capture targets were pinned down, the most popular and boasted character was my beloved [The Commander of the Royal Knight Guards.] I’d persevere through any kind of agony just to catch a glimpse of his smile.

But despite my best efforts… by God, I was betrayed by the game designers.

I was moved to tears at the recollection of the time when that 100% number was displayed in the corner of my terminal screen.

Even if fully completed, no sub character route was released, and the only thing left is the fact that I’ve spent long hours and played such a shitty game.

The sea of emptiness was vast. What have I been doing all this time, by myself…..

Speaking of which, of the many endings in this game, the most supported is the normal ending.

The heroine, who couldn’t deepen her bond with anyone and was unable to keep the world peace, returned silently to her own world in despair. Why is such an ending with countless trashy elements so popular…. It’s because of his appearance. The captain of the Imperial Guard Knight.

While the heroine was lamenting her lack of strength, he gently stroked her head, and then said. [It’s not your fault. Be happy over there.]

I hopelessly fell in love.

You don’t know how many times I’ve yelled at the heroine ” who joined the return team with that guilty face.

….. Oops, I’ve got off topic, but if I were reborn in a world of such a shitty game, it is inevitable that there would be endless troubles.

If I want to be at peace, there is a mountain of flags I have to strike down.

Out of the six guys who were more trouble than they were worth, all I needed to do was aim for one and avoid his flag and what not. It certainly is going to be an awful headache, but…what choice did I have?

[…………]

At the age of three, I once again sighed and made up my mind.

I must do my best.

For the future, and to meet my beloved Royal Knight Commander!
