The black flash of light pierced through the wooden door in an instant, shattering it into pieces. At that moment, it’s connection with Yi Yeyu was abruptly shattered, gravely wounding her psyche. She grimaced before spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Atop the snowy mountain peak, the giant black python let forth an enraged roar. The next instant, everyone grasped their heads in agony; their eyes and mouths wide open as they screamed. It was a terrifying psychic attack with an astonishing range of nearly 10 km.
A short while later, another flash of black light shot out. Before anyone could react, a gaping hole the size of a fist appeared in Yi Yeyu’s stomach. The same terrifying black light penetrated her stomach effortlessly.
Yi Yeyu face became deathly pale as she spat out another mouthful of blood before falling over. Lin Huang rushed forward immediately to catch her. Beside her, Yi Zheng stood there stock still, his eyes wide open in shock. Seeing Lin Huang rush forward, he finally came to his senses and rushed to support her as well.
“Yeyu!” His hands trembled as he saw his sister’s life fading away right in front of him.
“I’m sorry…I’ve implicated you guys…” by now, her lifeforce had nearly dissipated, but she still tried to finish her sentence. Word by word, she weakly voiced her last thoughts, “If it wasn’t for me…you guys wouldn’t be here …”
“Silly girl, you are my little sister. Before you get married, I’ll follow you wherever you go and protect you. That is my duty as your brother. I should be the one apologizing, I’ve failed to protect you…” tears rolled down his cheeks as he said this.
Lin Huang stood quietly by their side as they shared their last words with each other, eyes glistening with tears.
“I’ve never seen you cry…since you turned five…” she said while softly wiping away his tears. “Remember that time… when a group of older kids bullied me…and you quietly took all their punches for me…do you remember what you told me then?..When I asked you why didn’t you cry…you said men don’t cry in front of their little sisters…you were only seven then.”
“I’m sorry , I’ve broken my promise…” Yi Zheng gently smiled, his face still drenched in tears.
Yi Yeyu finally turned towards Lin Huang, “My confession…was just a facade…don’t take it seriously…you are the most gifted youngster I’ve ever seen…I can’t bear to see you die here …when you grow up… I hope you will be….a greater man than my brother…”
Lin Huang nodded his head silently.
“You wish to see him grow up?!” A sinister voice suddenly rang out in the air . The python’s stared at them with a taunting look in its eyes. “I’ll make sure he dies before your very eyes!”
As he said this, a jet black thread materialized out of thin air and wrapped itself around Lin Huang’s waist. With a forceful tug, it dragged him towards the pythons gaping mouth 10 km away.

Lin Huang only felt a strong pull before his surroundings blurred. The next moment, he was in front of a gaping blood red mouth.
“Shit! I’m screwed! No wonder they say a transmigrator’s death rate is high…” However, just as this thought crossed his mind, he suddenly felt the black thread loosen.
He gazed around in surprise. He was suspended in front of the python’s mouth, but the black thread had completely disappeared.
Yi Zheng was equally shocked by this turn of events. Lin Huang was suspended in mid air while the giant python stood there unmoving; a look of horror on its face. It desperately tried to struggle free, but it was as if time had completely frozen for it. It was unable to move a single muscle.
“Die!”
A booming shout echoed throughout the battlefield, its source unknown. A giant crystalline hand descended from the heavens the very next instant, rushing towards the python.
Under the mighty crushing force of the hand, the python was nothing more than an ant. Before the hand even came into contact with it, the python’s body started caving in under the pressure; a look of despair in its eyes.
The vast snowy mountain range trembled under the pressure of the palm. It was as if a god’s fury had descended upon the world.
Lin Huang stood in awe as he watched the ‘giant palm of Buddha’ descend upon the spot a mere metre away from him.
The sprawling goddess ridge was leveled in an instant by the palm.
That python had been completely engulfed by the palm. Judging from the pile of meat where it’s head once stood; it was definitely dead.
“Such a terrifying power…”
Lin Huang sighed in awe at the spectacle. What impressed him was the fact that he wasn’t affected despite being a metre away from the python. The mountains from his position onward were unharmed. The owner of this hand had an astonishing control over their power.
“Has mister Lin Huang been well?” A cool voice echoed from the air with a hint of warmth to it.
Lin Huang looked at the approaching Xue Luo. She gracefully traversed through the air, as she walked step by step towards him. Behind her, a white bearded old man followed.
“Miss Xue Luo?!” Lin Huang exclaimed in surprise. He didn’t expect her to still be here. He then looked at the old man behind her wonderingly, “Who is that?”
“Mister Lin Huang, I am Ice King. Don’t tell me you don’t recognize me because of my transformation?” He laughed as he stroked his beard.
“So it’s senior Ice King…” Lin Huang definitely did not link the old man in front of him with that yeti.
“Was it miss Xue Luo who saved me just now?” Lin Huang finally understood what had just transpired.
“That wasn’t me.” Xue Luo shook her head and smiled.
“Mistress Xue Luo hasn’t used her martial arts in over 700 years. That attack just now came from me.” Ice King immediately explained.
“Oh, then please accept my gratitude; Miss Xue Luo as well.” He had assumed that earth-sundering attack was only possible with a deity’s power. To think Ice King possessed such an astonishing strength.

“I’ll help you fish out its beast soul. When you ascend into the transcendent realm, you can refine it into your battle soul.” She descended as she said this.
Only Ice King and Lin Huang remained floating in the air.
“That lizard was truly ignorant. Ignorantly assuming that Lin Huang’s attack was a deity art. He even so went so far as to assume you were a descendant of god.” Ice king chuckled as he said this. “If it wasn’t so foolish as to raise its hand against you, Miss Xue Luo wouldn’t have asked me to intervene.”
Lin Huang did not pay much attention to Ice King’s words, but instead focused his attention on Yi Yeyu’s condition. “Senior Ice King, can you save my friend?” He turned towards Ice King with a pleading look on his face.
Ice king threw Yi Yeyu a glance before shaking his head. Her body was barely hanging on by thread, the chances of her surviving were almost zero. “Her Life Wheel has been destroyed and her prana is nearly depleted. I can’t save her.”
However, just as Lin Huang started to despair, Ice King continued, “My mistress on the other hand, is able to save her if she is willing.”
“Miss Xue Luo!” Lin Huang dead eyes brightened once more upon hearing this. It had just occurred to him that Xue Luo was a deity who possessed unfathomable powers. She might really be able to save Yi Yeyu.
Hearing him call out to her, she turned around and walked towards them. In her hand was a translucent black snake that looked like a projection.
As she stood in front of him, she handed the little snake in her palm over to him. “I’ve already wiped out the consciousness of this eternal enigma snake. It’s safe for you to absorb into your life wheel. Once you become a transcendent, you can refine it.”
“While it may have only gone through one mutation, it possess a faint trace if dragon blood in its bloodline. If you nurture it well, it may mutate once more. At that time, its strength will undergo a transformative change.”
Lin Huang wasn’t too concerned about the beast soul due to Yi Yeyu’s condition. The moment she finished explaining, he immediately spoke up, “Miss Xue Luo, I have a request to make of you. I know that you have not involved yourself with worldly matters for 700 years but I still have to make this request of you…please save my friend.”
“You want me to save that lady?” Xue Luo glanced at Yi Yeyu before looking at the snake in her hand, “To repair her life wheel, I require at least a transcendent’s soulstone. Are you willing to forsake this dragon blood infused beast soul just to save her?!”
“Of course, saving her is critical!” Lin Huang replied without hesitating.
“Alright…” Xue Luo handed the snake over to Lin Huang once more, “Keep this.”
“Don’t you need it to save her?” Lin Huang didn’t immediately accept the snake.
“I was just teasing you. I have some spare souls I can use to repair her life wheel.” Xue Luo smiled mischievously. Seeing that he didn’t accept it, she added, “If you don’t accept it, I won’t save her.”
He immediately accepted the snake.
Xue Luo carried the two of them and descended among the crowd. A number of hunters reflexively attempted to shield Yi Yeyu, even though they knew the giant palm came from her servant.
“Lin Huang who are these people?!” A person anxiously asked.
“There’s no time to explain, Miss Xue Luo is here to save Yi Yeyu! Please make way for her!” Hearing this, they immediately cleared a path for her.
Xue Luo approached Yi Zheng who was hugging Yi Yeyu’s body tightly. Her body was nearly devoid of life.
Yi Zheng had heard Lin Huang’s speech as well. He knew what Xue Luo was here to do, and his face clearly showed his anticipation.
“Place her on the ground and make some space.” Xue Luo didn’t seem too willing to interact with the others, her face icy cold as she instructed them.
Yi Zheng carefully laid Yi Yeyu down onto the ground and backed off.
Xue Luo placed her palm on Yi Yeyu’s chest and an icy aura started flowing into her body. A short while later, her lips curled into a smile. “Such an interesting constitution, a perfect match for this soul.”
A translucent red dove appeared in her other palm. With a light tap of her finger, the dove started circling her finger before flying towards Yi Yeyu. It dove headfirst into her forehead and soon a thin layer of ice enveloped her body.
A moment later, the gaping hole in Yi Yeyu’s chest started healing right before their eyes. Flesh and veins started regrowing at a visible rate and reconnected together as the healing energies worked their magic.
What the crowd didn’t know was that her life wheel was being rapidly mended as well. The cracks started fusing together and by the time it finished; the life wheel was good as new. Within this new life wheel, were strains of red infused into it which formed an image of a red dove.
————————-
“Is this death?” Yi Yeyu felt like she was in a black void. She recalled a story she heard about death written by her favorite author. “Death is where a person’s consciousness is forever floating in a black void alone, sightless, and silent. The only thing you will experience is an endless void. This is the final rest place for everyone…”
“Now that i think about it, its descriptions are very similar to my situation…” Yi Yeyu laughed in a self mocking tone.
Perhaps an eternity had passed, or perhaps just an instant had passed; Yi Yeyu’s consciousness faded into nothingness.
Suddenly a mote of light appeared next to her body. Yi Yeyu turned her head in surprise at this sudden visitor.
It felt like the black void had been ripped open and a jade-like hand reached out to her in the void.
“Such a beautiful hand…” she couldn’t help but reach out to that hand.
Before she could react, that icy hand violently pulled her out of the void.
Her eyes filled with light at that instant and the next time she opened her eyes, a crowd had already surrounded her. As she took in her sudden change in surroundings, a loud cheer rang out among the crowd.
“She’s alive!”

ARMOR
I was created as the ultimate dungeon trap: a living suit of armor that devours any adventurer who dons me. My master created me for his entertainment, leading adventurers to ruin and betraying them at the last moment. This time will be no different. Or so I thought. Now I'm living the life of an adventurer. Hopefully, my companions won't realize I'm not who, or what, they think I am. *Now updating Tuesdays and Thursdays Additional tags I couldn't include: Romantic subplot This story is meant to be a book rather than a serial, there will eventually be an ending. It is also my first book length work so while I intend to do my best, mistakes and issues will occur.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.
