Monster Paradise Chapter 41
Translated and Edited by Catato Patch
The next two days were especially taxing for Lin Huang. He barely had time for a break as the rapidly returning candidates kept him extremely busy. He had a haggard appearance by the end of this period.
The people sent over by Yi Yeyu were all candidates who hadn’t been disqualified and mostly possessed a combat rank of Two-Star BlackIron, some were even Three-Star BlackIron.
They were naturally unhappy about taking orders from Lin Huang who wasn’t even a BlackIron.
He had no choice but to summon Tyrant and stamp out these weeds. After being beaten half to death, they naturally became more obedient.
While Lin Huang wasn’t strong himself, his unique occupation made his opponents wary. Coupled with the fact that he had two minions, a genius even among Beastmasters, they finally acquiesced.
Yi Yeyu had an even busier time, her dimensional Relic could be only be used 10 times a day while there were over 70 candidates still taking the examination spread out over the entire examination grounds. She had to organize the staff members into teams to help gather the candidates into clusters. This was how she managed to transfer all the candidates within 3 days.
Having collected them all, she rented a conference hall and made them gather there.
As she took attendance of the room, she found that all of the candidates were accounted for. Her opinion of Lin Huang was raised even more. While some of them were clearly badly injured, she knew it was because of Lin Huang’s attempts at detaining them.
She finally began her address.
“I’m sure everyone has their own questions regarding these past three days, why you weren’t allowed to leave or why you are gathered here. I’ll clarify these doubts now and I ask that everyone remains calm.”
“The situation is this, over the past few days we have discovered the monsters in the surrounding hinterlands behaving aggressively, frequently attacking humans without any regard for their lives. After a round of investigations, we have determined that a transcendent with the ability to bewitch monsters may have appeared in the vicinity.”

The hall exploded in an uproar as she mentioned the transcendent.
Transcendents were a serious matter. The whole reason why C ranked stronghold needed a transcendent to guard it was because of the existence of nearby transcendent monsters.
A transcendent monster could gather the surrounding monsters into a monster horde and destroy a medium stronghold in the span of one night, killing millions of people.
“Settle down everyone. The association has already dispatched a transcendent to this stronghold. He should be arriving today. At which point, he will investigate the surrounding areas and determine the cause of this anomaly. After the problem is solved, I’ll appeal to the higher ups to either resume this exam or to directly pass the remaining candidates. So please wait patiently in the meantime.” This had a calming effect on the crowd as the uproar finally died down.
The whole reason why they had come here was for the examination, if they were able to directly pass, then this outcome would naturally be what they desired.
In actuality, the Association did not impose too much restrictions on the examiners. The content and passing standard was set by the Head Examiner without their input. The number of qualified candidates at the end of the exam was not a big issue and only special situations warranted a report to the Association.
Having received the reassurance they wanted, the mood of the crowd became much better.
However someone raised his hands and asked, “This stronghold might not be safe as well. Can’t we just ride a griffin to a different stronghold?”
“Given the current situation, a griffin ride might not be safe.” She replied.
“While climbing the mountain, I was ambushed by a flock of Alabaster Plume geese. While the griffins are fast, if they encounter any bird type monster, the chances of escape are low.” Lin Huang added onto Yi Yeyu’s point.
Hearing this, everyone immediately gave up on riding a griffin.
As the conference ended, the crowd dispersed. Having received a satisfactory response, they obediently stayed in the stronghold.
With this, Lin Huang was finally released from his duties

During the night while he was practicing his blade skills in his room, he suddenly received a call from Yi Yeyu asking him to head to her room.
Lin Huang had doubts about this request but went anyway.
As he pushed open the door and entered her room, he noticed another man in the room.
The man looked ordinary, 30 years of age, tanned and had a lanky physique with a height of 1.8metres.
Seeing him enter, she hurriedly introduced the man to him, “ This is Mister Zhang Bo, he is the man dispatched by the Hunter’s Association to solve this problem.”
“Greetings Mister Zhang.”
Hearing this, he deduced that this ordinary looking man was probably the transcendent they were waiting for. This was his first time meeting a transcendent and he couldn’t help but give him a second look. He couldn’t spot any noticeable difference between this man and a normal person.
“Mister Zhang Bo, this teenager is the person we were talking about, Lin Huang.” She followed up by introducing Lin Huang as well.
Zhang Bo reached out and patted him on the shoulder, a warm smile on his. He looked like an affable person. “Kid, please recount the details of your encounter with the monsters during the examination.”
Lin Huang nodded and proceeded to retell the series of events.
At side Yi Yeyu’s impression of Lin Huang improved further as she heard the details of his encounters. She had only heard a summary of the events from Lin Huang, this was the first time she learnt of the dangers he faced.
After spending about 20 minutes recounting the events, Zhang Bo patted him on the back and praised him, “Not bad! I believe you will be a great Hunter in the future!”
He couldn’t help but rub his head in embarrassment from the praise.
“According to your description, the likelihood of it being a bewitching type transcendent is high.” Zhang Bo said in a hearty tone. “I’ll head off now to hunt it down. If I’m lucky, I’ll be back by dawn.”
“You don’t intend on waiting for dawn?” Yi Yeyu asked.
She asked this as a lot of monsters were nocturnal and were stronger at night.
Zhang Bo was naturally aware of this but shrugged it off,” There’s no need to wait for daylight, the faster I settle this, the faster we can be at ease.”
He had a slightly cavalier attitude towards this incident as he pushed open the room’s windows and leapt out, heading off into the hinterlands. Seeing Zhang Bo soar through the skies unaided, the envy in Ling Huang grew.
This did not go unnoticed as Yi Yeyu laughed as she reminded him, “Work hard on your cultivation, when you become a transcendent, you can fly as well.”
Lin Huang’s face turned beet red at this reminder, seeking to change the subject he said, “What’s Mister Zhang Bo’s background?”
“Zhang Bo the Sky Rending Cannon. He is a very strong firearms expert who became a transcendent within these two years. Before he ascended, his ranking on the 7th District’s Gold Hunter’s Ranking Board was 33. She explained.
“Is 33 really strong?” He didn’t see 33 as a particularly impressive number.
“What do you know, do you know many hunters there are in the 7th district. There are at least 100,000 Gold Hunters in the 7th district. Being able to enter the top 1,000 meant you are an elite!” She rolled her eyes at Lin Huang as she explained.
“Then what’s your ranking?” Lin Huang couldn’t help but ask.
“I’m currently ranked 998.” Yi Yeyu revealed her ranking with a hint of pride in her voice.
“Oh nice, that’s great. It’s within the top 1,000.” He said in a superficial tone.
“Why do I feel that you actually mean to say “Pfft, 998. What a scrub!”” Her face blackened as she turned to Lin Huang.
“Surely you jest?! Here I’ll reenact that scene once more.” As he finished this, he raised his voice and said in a melodramatic tone, “That’s fantastic, you are actually a part of the top 1000! You are amazing! …”
“Just go back to your room.” Yi Yeyu’s face grew blacker by the second.
