“What do you need my help with?” Lin Huang calmed down after hearing the Yeti’s response.

This Yeti had enough strength to kill him with just a finger.

“Follow me.”

As he said this, a gentle wind surrounded Lin Huang and lifted him onto the Yeti’s palm. Once Lin Huang had settled down on his palm, the yeti continued deeper into the gorge.

As the snow and wind buffeted the yeti, it was stopped by an invisible barrier and dissipated. As Lin Huang couldn’t help but to think to himself, ‘This world is truly enigmatic.

As the Yeti traveled down the long winding gorge, he softly recounted his past to Lin Huang.

“700 years ago, I met a beautiful girl who adopted me as her pet. At that time, I was merely a clueless snowpuff beast and was barely sentient. I only knew she was a kind, gentle girl who treated me very well…”

“When I mutated into a snow giant, my consciousness expanded and became capable of more advanced thoughts. I discovered that she, like me, wasn’t human but a monster. A very strong monster whose identity could not be exposed by any human means. She usually spent her time in human society and laid low in their cities. However, one day she suddenly told me that she fell in love with a man… I clearly remember the joy on her face as she said that, but from that day on, she rarely visited me…”

“This was so until one day, she came back, her body covered in blood. She said that her identity had been exposed by that man. She had told him about her identity and he betrayed her immediately, even bringing a team of hunters to chase after her. Enraged, she killed everyone except that man.”

“After that incident, she remained in this gorge, never taking a step out of it. From time to time, she would carve an ice statue of the man. Over time, she had collected a wide variety of such statues, each with varying expressions and sizes. She used to stare at the statues for hours on end, even days. At times, she would carry the statue to the lakeside and dance in front as if she was dancing in front of the actual person. Her face beamed as she did so but soon became sad as the dance ended. It was the man’s favorite dance…”

“One, day, that man found the gorge. He had come alone to see her. She let that man in, naively thinking that he had come back to her. However, the man said to her “I know you are of the Deity race, the race with the most precious bloodlines among all the monster races. That is why you have such a flawless appearance. Deities were born with immense power and possessed a Deific Flame within them. If you really love me, you will give that flame to me.”

“Do you know how she responded to that man?”, the yeti suddenly interrupted his story and asked Lin Huang.

Lin Huang shook his head but he knew that this story was bound to end in tragedy.

“That foolish girl told him, “I’ll give you my Deific Flame, not to prove anything but simply because whatever you want, if it is within my means, I’ll give it to you!”

“She tore apart her chest and shattered her heart, taking out the azure flame within it and tossed it to the man. After receiving the flame, he left without even taking a look at the girl. He knew she did not have long to live.”

“From that day on, she grew weaker and weaker. Within a month, she was bedridden. She instructed me to bury her in the lake in front of that cottage once she died. She said upon her death, a burst of glacial energy will erupt from her body and cover the entire gorge in ice and snow. If one day, her fated person came and dripped a drop of his blood onto the lake surface. It will thaw the entire gorge and revive her.

“Soon after she died, and I buried her in the lake. A flash of blood rushed out of the lake as I did so and entered my body. I had my second mutation then, becoming a yeti. By the time I awoke from my mutation, I had become a yeti and the entire gorge had turned into the scene you see before you today…”

As the yeti approached the end of the gorge and his story, a snow-covered cottage came into sight.

“So, you wish to use my blood to revive her?” Lin Huang roughly guessed the contents of the yeti’s request from his story.

“Yes.”

“Why me?” Lin Huang blurted out the question that has been nagging at him the entire trip.

“Because you have a good personality. There were at least several thousands of people who passed by that area in the past few hundred years but you are only one out of three people who I picked.”The yeti responded with a simple explanation.

“Alright, how much blood do you need?” Lin Huang readily agreed to this.

“A drop will do.” The yeti added to this, ” whether you succeed or fail, I will return you safely to the outside world. However, if you fail, I’ll have to wipe your memory regarding this incident.”

“That’s fine with me. Let’s begin.” Lin Huang knew that it was difficult to verify the yeti’s claims and the success rate was small anyway.

“Thank you.”

The yeti stopped upon reaching the lakeside and lowered the arm bearing Lin Huang onto the center of the frozen lake surface.

“Here?” Lin Huang got off the yeti’s palm and pointed beneath his feet.

“Yes.” The yeti nodded towards him.

Lin Huang then took out a knife and cut his finger, squeezing a drop of blood out onto the frozen lake.

Time crept by as the blood silently diffused into the lake. After standing there for a short while, Lin Huang raised his head and with a solemn look on his face, shook his head and said,” I’m sorry. It looks like I’m not the one…”

However just as he said this, a strange look crossed the yeti’s face. It was at this moment that a cracking sound echoed around him. Looking down, he saw fissures forming on the frozen lake.

The yeti reacted immediately and picked up Lin Huang and retreated onto the shore.

Lin Huang was stunned by this turn of events, he did not expect such a reaction.

The ice was breaking up and dissolving at a visibly rapid rate. Soon the lake had completely thawed.

​

Once it thawed it was as if a wave of warmth had radiated from the lake, and the surrounding gorge started thawing as well. The ice and snow nearest to the lake started melting at the same rapid pace and soon this phenomenon spread out further. Vegetation started growing from the previously ice cold ground and the cloudy skies soon gave way to reveal two long hidden crescent moons.

The originally snow white world had begun to turn green.

“My blood is that nutritious?!” He stuck his injured finger into his mouth as he sucked on it.

Within 10 minutes, the gorge was teeming with life. As he admired the scenery around him, he spotted an ice coffin rising out of the lake. As soon as the ice coffin came into contact with the air it began to melt. Soon, an alluring girl wearing a white dress was revealed.

The girl had a peaceful look about her as she floated on the lake surface. A moment later, her body was lifted upright by an invisible force.

As her body reach an upright posture, the girl slowly pried open her eyelids and looked at the yeti and Lin Huang. She wore a bewitching smile on her face as she walked barefooted on the lake towards them…
