Monster Paradise Chapter 24: The Boy who wants to be a Gourmet Hunter
Sand Ogre were born and raised in the desert. Their survivability in the desert was even stronger than a camel’s.
.
When they had an excess of food, they would overeat and store the extra nutrients as fat. This helped to sustain during a period of drought or famine.
An ogre with sufficient fat stored up could survive for half a year without water and 3 years without food.
Their tough hide was resistant to the battering of the desert’s frequent dust storm. Even their eyes had a protective mechanism. Their eyelids had 3 layers which served to protect their eyes from the dust.
The feet of a Sand Ogre were much larger than a humans and allowed them to maintain their speed easily without sinking into the sand.
These traits allowed Sand Ogres to stand atop the desert’s food chain.
Tyrant’s body was five times the size of an average person while his speed was at least twenty times the speed of a human. A Three-Star BlackIron Human had a top speed of 20km per hour while Tyrant had a normal speed of 80 km per hour. If he sprinted, it easily crossed the hundred mark.
Lin Huang didn’t want a bumpy ride so he had Tyrant limit his speed at 80 km/h. Even so, at their current speed, two hours of travelling was equivalent to nearly an entire day’s worth of travelling on foot.
With Tyrant’s strength, Fatty’s weight had no effect on Tyrant’s overall speed. Fatty Yin who had no experience with the Tyrant Express desperately tried not to puke up the contents of his meal. On the other side, Lin Huang was secretly laughing at Fatty Yin even though he didn’t fare much better during his maiden voyage either. He had however grown accustomed to Tyrant’s speed. Recalling his first voyage and the effect on his butt he couldn’t help but murmur, ” I knew this would happen, I would’ve left the other side unshaven…”

After four hours of running, Fatty Yin finally caved in and started complaining.
“Stop! Stop! At this rate, my butt would split in two!”
Lin Huang’s butt was slightly numb as well and so he decided to stop.
Tyrant lowered the pair down onto the floor and stepped aside. Rubbing his buttcheeks, Fatty Yin gingerly strode towards Lin Huang.
“Let’s take a break and grab some food before we continue,”
“Alright, I’ll get Tyrant to hunt some meat for us while we have a drink.”
“It’s fine. I have some food on me right now!” Fatty Yin took a swig of his water bottle as he said this.
After keeping his water bottle, he retrieved a set of kitchenware and a bunch of cut meat with the aggregate size of a soccer ball.
“Where did you get all this meat? I thought they had confiscated all our food?” Lin Huang asked.
“I didn’t smuggle them in if that’s what you are thinking. This is the leftovers from the Armored Boar the team brought in. Rear Leg Meat, great stuff! I,Master Fatty view you as a brother. That’s why I’m sharing this. I was planning to keep this for myself.” As he said, he started cutting the meat into thin slices.
“So you are a chef.” Seeing the fatty’s practised motions, he came to this conclusion.
“What Chef?! I, Master Fatty am going to be a Gourmet Hunter!” Fatty Yin raised his head and retorted.
There were many kinds of Hunter within the Hunter’s Association. On top of the popular monster hunting Hunter, there were the Gourmet Hunters who focused on cooking, Treasure Hunters who specialised in exploring ruins and the Bulwark Hunter who specialised in bodyguard missions.
The Hunter’s Association was a laissez-faire kind of organization. They only nurtured talent and did not restrict their direction or allegiance. They frequently sent out their nurtured hunters to other organizations.

The Reserve Hunter Exam is a general examination that all hunters had to take. Gourmet Hunters wannabes like Fatty Yin had to first pass it before applying for a specialised field during the Copper Hunter Exam. Only by passing this second exam will Fatty Yin be recognized as an official Hunter. A Gourmet Hunter.
After 20 minutes of roasting, the meat was finally ready.
Lin Huang’s eyes lit up as he took the first bite of the meat. “Fatty Yin, I would’ve never guessed that your cooking was this good!”
While it wasn’t at the level of the Stalwart Suites, it was much better than the meat Lin Huang roasted on the first day.
*Rumble Rumble*
The pair heard a strange rumbling sound coming from the side. Turning their heads, they saw Tyrant staring at the meat with his mouth wide open. Drool flowing from the sides of his mouth.
“Fatty, give him a large piece of meat.” Lin Huang suggested after seeing the pitiful look on his face.
“We would have to starve for the next few nights if you were to feed him.” Fatty Yin grumbled slightly.
“Just give him a piece to let him savour the meat.” Lin Huang was definitely aware that satisfying an ogre was not an easy task. No matter how much you fed them, they would able to eat it as they converted into fat for storage.
Fatty Yin still wasn’t convinced but after taking into account that Tyrant was the one who gave him a lift, he took out a large rack of ribs and roasted it for Tyrant.
As the pair continued eating, the ribs were finally ready. Fatty Yin skewered the ribs with his barbecue fork and passed the ribs to Tyrant.
“Hey big guy, here’s your share.”
Even though he was salivating profusely as he stared at the meat, Tyrant turned over to Lin Huang as if to ask for his permission.
“Go ahead.”
Seeing his master approve, he finally grabbed the ribs and threw it into his mouth. After chew for a short while, he swallowed everything, bones and all.
“What the heck, Even the bones?!” This was the first time Fatty Yin had seen an ogre eat.
“Monsters of the Giant family are able to digest a lot more than a normal human. Their digestive fluid is a hundred times stronger than ours. It can even digest bones. Have you ever heard of a giant spitting out the bones of their prey when they eat?” Lin Huang lectured Fatty Yin on the science behind ogres.
“That’s true. The giants in the videos only chewed their prey slightly before swallowing them whole.” Fatty Yin said as he recalled the videos he watched in the past.
“Alright, since we’re done, let’s pack up and get ready to move. If we are fast, we might make it to the foot of the snowy mountains by tomorrow night. After resting a day, we should be able to start climbing the mountain then.” Lin Huang had already planned out their schedule, Tyrant would run for ten hours a day which would take them to the foot of the mountain in two days.
“Okay!”
Fatty Yin said with an excited look on his face. Two days to complete a task which would normally take others ten days to complete is a natural cause for celebration.
After packing up, the two got onto the Tyrant Express and set off…

El's Revenge
“Revenge is not for the dead- we, as the living, take revenge to relieve the burden we feel,” I whispered into the air. “Salvation for the people who suffered because of you,” I watched as the city burned in the flames. “Salvation for the people like me, who believed in the proclaimed heroes when in reality they were the devils.” I smiled faintly as the ‘holy land’ of those ‘saints’ was destroyed. I heard rustling sounds as Charlotte came to stand next to me, grabbing my hand. “El, are we the bad guys?” If I was still the same as I was before, I might’ve broken down and started crying. Now, it was different. “A villain is just another victim. They cry and mourn, it’s just that no one heard, leading them into madness. It’s one of the reasons why we know the most, but care the least.” I took a deep breath. “We may be the bad guys in other peoples’ eyes, but in my story, we’re the heroes.” Charlotte took in my words for a while and pondered, before nodding in agreement. “As children, we loved the heroes, as adults we understand the villains.” I looked at her and bonked her on the head, earning an angry glare from her. “Hey! You’re barely an adult yourself you know,” she grumbled. I laughed and ruffled her hair, before countering her. “At least I’m not 12. You can’t even be considered a teenager at that age.” After that, we silently watched the flames ravage the land, before leaving.
