After a two hours bumpy ride on Tyrant’s shoulders, Lin Huang finally understood what it means to ride one’s mount to the end, even in tears…
Tyrant’s two hours of sprinting covered 100km of desert before the pair stopped.
Lin Huang got off Tyrant’s shoulder and started pitching a tent behind a nearby sand dune, all the while under Tyrant’s curious watchful eye.
After 20 mins of pitching, the tent was set up and as Lin Huang sat in it, a problem went through his head. Who was going to be on guard duty? The Crimson Aurum Desert was a lot more dangerous than the deserts on Earth which makes guard duty a must at night.
He considered Tyrant but that was quickly shot down. Tyrant needed to continue running for the next few days and thus needed rest. Shirou could guard the campsite but he was a significant fighting force and Lin Huang did not wish to tire him out.
He suddenly remembered that he still had a bunch of Sand Ogre fragments and could piece together another Sand Ogre Monster Card.
Stepping out of his tent, he recalled Tyrant before telling Kuro ” Kuro, I want to combine my ogre fragments into a complete Monster Card.”
[Master possesses 33 fragments, combining them requires 30 fragments. Do you wish to proceed?]
“Yes!”
[30 fragments have been used up. You have attained —- Sand Ogre Monster Card x1!]
Lin Huang called up his new card, a White Crystal Card and performed his usual card inspection. The card front had a similar appearance to Tyrant but a miniaturized version. The card back painted a slightly different picture.

[Skill 2: Giant’s Endurance (Lv.1)]
[Summoning Status: Unlocked]
[Rating: Junk]
However another message popped up soon after, giving Lin Huang a slight shock.
[Detected a duplicate Monster Card. Do you wish to consume it?]
“Kuro, what is Card Consumption?” Lin Huang immediately asked.
[If a duplicate Monster Card is detected, you may choose to feed the Card with a higher rarity the duplicate and upgrade a random skill.]
“So, Tyrant’s Monster Card could be fed this card in order to raise its skill?” Lin Huang immediately understood the crux of that message.
[Affirmative. This is the first time Master has received a duplicate Monster Card so the system automatically sent out this message. Do you wish to proceed with the Card Consumption?]
“No, I need the ogre to stand guard at night.” Lin Huang rejected the card consumption.
He summoned the ogre but decided not to name it as it would be turned into monster feed in a few days anyway.
The new ogre was much shorter than Tyrant, coming in at a mere 5 metres.
“You’ll be on guard outside the tent, if you notice a hostile intruder, just shout to wake me up.” Lin Huang commanded him.
It nodded its head and obediently sat down outside the tent. Lin Huang then went to sleep in his tent.
Thanks to his hectic day, he quickly dozed off. By the time he opened his eyes, it was morning. The night passed by peacefully.
He washed up after packing his tent and recalled the ogre, before summoning Tyrant.
He grimaced as he sat down on Tyrant’s shoulders once more. His butt was still reeling from his previous trip on the Tyrant express. Today’s trip would probably last than 10 hours. His butt was in for a trip.
He got Tyrant to put him down and to lie down on the ground. Thankfully, the day just started and the sand hasn’t heated up yet. Taking out his combat knife, Lin Huang started shaving off the hair on Tyrant’s shoulders.

Tyrant laid on the ground obediently but as soon as Lin Huang started shaving his hair. He started looking at Lin Huang with a wronged expression on his face. He looks kind of adorable. An ugly kind of adorable but still adorable.
The hair on a ogre’s body was a sign of vitality, so he naturally wasn’t happy about Lin Huang shaving his hair. However, he had no way to defy Lin Huang and thus could only throw a pitiful gaze from time to time.
As he was about to climb onto Tyrant’s clean shaven left shoulder, he took a look at Tyrant’s right shoulder “Should shave that too. To make it symmetrical.”
He took out his knife once more and got down to work.
After messing around for another half hour, he finally started his trip.
Without Tyrant’s hair sticking into his butt, it was a more comfortable ride. ” It’s so much better now!.”
However he soon spotted some tracks left by humans. However, as he was about to make a detour, the owner of these tracks spotted Tyrant and started approaching them.
Seeing them approach, Tyrant started acting up. He could detect the bloodthirstiness from their 5 visitors.
“Tyrant, put me down.”
The group finally noticed Lin Huang as Tyrant lowered him onto the ground.
“What’s the matter?” Lin Huang said as he glanced at the group, suspicion clearly reflected in his eyes.
“So the brat is Beastmaster. No wonder you dared to take the Reserve Hunter Exam before reaching the BlackIron rank.” A lanky youth replied with a sinister smile on his face.
“If you have business with me, state it now otherwise please step aside, I’m in a hurry.” Lin Huang did not want to waste time on these small fries.
“You are Lin Huang right?” A teenager who was about the same age as Lin Huang spoke up. He was well-dressed and had a look of wealth about him. The moment he spoke, the rest of the group quieted down. This young teenager was surprisingly the leader of this team.
“My name is Zuo Qiu Kang. Please do not be alarmed, we bear you no ill will.”
“The difficulty of this exam is really high and the chances of passing it alone are really low so we decided to form a team in order to raise our chances at passing this exam. You are a Beastmaster , with a relatively strong minion, however your personal is really low. With your current strength, cross the snowy mountains would be nearly impossible. While the ogre is really strong, it can’t help you with climbing the mountains. If you are willing to join us, we will help you cross those mountains.” Zuo Qiu Kang smiled as he offered this suggestion.
“Thank you for the concern but I’m used to travelling alone so can you guys step aside now?” Lin Huang saw through his intentions. While this Zuo Qiu Kang was smiling on the surface, deep down he was scheming against him. They definitely did not bear him any good will.
“Brother Lin, please reconsider.” Zuo Qiu Kang said while maintaining his previous smile.
“There’s no need for that. Stand aside!” Lin Huang rejected in a firm tone.
“Brat, don’t push us. We are being nice here. Do you really think we give a shit about your wellbeing. We only need your ogre so that we can save some time. If you are smart, you will quietly listen to us and you might even reach the snow mountains safely. Otherwise, we will make you comply.” The lanky youth spoke up once more, revealing the group’s intentions.
“I take it you don’t intend to step aside?” Lin Huang ignored the lanky youth and coldly stared at Zuo Qiu Kang.

The Faction Contributor [Sci-Fi LitRPG]
While casually studying for his upcoming university exam, Aven suddenly felt the world around him start warping. It started with flashes of light appearing from nowhere, quickly escalating into his whole world becoming an absolute mess of flickering pixels and chaotic color flows, as if reality had become a malfunctioning glitched screen. What he could recognize as numbers, letters, and strange symbols flew everywhere around him, obviously trying to form a coherent whole to be displayed before his eyes, but such attempts kept failing, again and again. Before he could even start thinking about how both mesmerizing and absurd this spectacle was, however, it all stopped, as suddenly as it had begun. Accompanying the end of this unique show, 2 things happened. First, knowledge had spontaneously appeared in his mind and he could perfectly understand it, as if it had always been there, just inaccessible. Second, a weird simultaneously hot and cold energy had made its apparition inside his body completely unannounced. Aven had just simply and purely awakened his innate ability and the energy potential of his cells, joining the world of the supers, a minority that had always controlled and protected the world since ancient times, by becoming one of them. *** Do you have a sci-fi itch to scratch?
