Armed with the experiences from his previous battles with ogres, the ogre’s last ditch attempt was completely within Lin Huang’s expectations.
Armed with the experiences from his previous battles with ogres, the ogre’s last ditch attempt was completely within Lin Huang’s expectations.
The chief’s demise was soon accompanied by Kuro’s system reminder. The killing blow was dealt by Lin Huang as such, he gained the credit for the kill. The advancement card and complete monster card.
A complete card drop was a considerably rare occurrence. According to Kuro, the probability was extremely. Given his perchance for misfortune and black face (it’s a common chinese way to describe a person’s affinity with misfortune.), he fully expected a fragment instead.
However, Newton’s third law seemed to apply to life in general as well. For every gain, there was an equal but opposite loss. Because he was the one who killed the ogre, he was unable to absorb the ogre’s Prana as the absorption only happens when a summoned familiar kills the monster.
He summoned the new monster card for his routine inspection. A green crystalline card flew into his hands a moment later. A Green Crystal Card! Lin Huang immediately noticed the card’s rarity.
The card’s front depicted a gigantic Ogre with relatively normal features. He had one head, a normal pair of eyes and four limbs, just like a normal person. He resembled an enlarged version of an overweight human. His body hair grew out like a neanderthal and had a savage look on his face. However, he lacked something most humans had, reproductive organs.
Flipping to the back, Lin Huang scanned through the card’s attributes.

[Monster Card]
[Rarity: Rare]
[Monster Species: Giant]
[Combat Rank: Three-Star BlackIron]
[Skill 1: Giant’s Power (Lv. 1)]
[Skill 2: Giant’s Endurance (Lv. 2)]
[Skill 3: Body of Steel (Lv. 1)]
[Summoning Status: Unlocked]
[Rating: Also Crap!]
Lin Huang clicked on skill, bringing up its details.
[Giant’s Power (Lv.1) : Passive, 300% increase in Power]
[Giant’s Endurance (Lv.1) : Passive, 200% increase in Endurance. (Includes poison resistance, stamina, adaptability, strength) ]
[Body of Steel (Lv.1) : Passive, 300% increase in Defence.]
He finally knew why the village chief was such a difficult opponent. he was a rare monster just like Shirou and while he didn’t possess any active skills, his passive skills more than made up for it by boosting his survivability to monstrous levels.
As for the Advancement Card, he already knew what it was so he didn’t bring it out. Furthermore, he wasn’t sure which monster he should use it on so he saved it for later use.
“Kuro, let’s commence with the Skill Absorption.” All three of the ogre’s skills were decent so Lin Huang did not have any preference.
[Commencing with Skill Absorption… Randomly picking a skill… Selection complete… Congratulations Master, You have attained —– Giant’s Endurance (Lv.1)]
After absorbing the skill, Lin Huang brought up his own card to check the updated attributes.
[Master: Lin Huang]
[Gender: Male]
[Age: 15]
[Combat Rank: Nil ( Below the minimum threshold)]
[Skill 1: Blood Arts (Lv.2)]
[Skill 2: Grand Desolation Knife Scripture (Knife Martial Skill)]
[Skill 3: Giant’s Endurance (Lv.1)]
[Summoning Authority: Unlocked]
[Maximum Summoning Count : 1]
[Rating: Scrub! Scrub! Scrub!]
Lin Huang’s initial elation was dampened as he laid eyes on the final line “Was it really necessary to repeat the word “scrub” three times? Kuro, you seem to be getting unfriendlier by the day.”

[Important things should be repeated thrice. Wasn’t a popular phrase from Earth?]
“…” No comments.
” My maximum summoning count is still 1. Does that mean I can’t have two active familiars?” Lin Huang noticed the lack of change in his summoning count.
[Affirmative. No matter how many monster cards Master collects, the maximum number of active familiars you may have summoned is still 1.]
Lin Huang decided to test this out. Without recalling Shirou, he shattered the Ogre card. However, it only flowed back into his body instead of materializing. At the same time, a new system message rang out.
[Maximum Summoning Count reached. Unable to proceed with Summoning!]
He recalled Shirou and tried summoning the ogre once more, succeeding with this second attempt.
He circled around the ogre, his hand wrapped his chin as he inspected the familiar. After contemplating for awhile he said ” From now on, your name is Tyrant.”
Upon hearing this, the ogre raised his arms high up into the air and let out a triumphant roar. He was clearly satisfied with this name.
“Alright Tyrant start hunting the smaller monsters around us.” His only meal so far was the breakfast he had before the exam. A day had passed and after the running and battle, he was tired and hungry.
Tyrant turned around and left once he received Lin Huang’s command. Soon after, he came back with a monster resembling a boar, in tow. Lin Huang recognized this monster. It was called an Armored Boar. It was double the size of a boar from Earth and had black scales on its back. It belonged to the beast family of monsters.
Lin Huang’s eyes lit up as he saw the Armored Boar. He had eaten this in the Stalwart Suites. It was quite delectable.
He started a fire and began preparing the meat. Before starting the exam, he had anticipated a situation like this and brought the necessary seasoning. His cooking skill was average at best, during the entire process, he lost control of the fire at certain points and overcooked certain portions of the meat. However it was still delicious.
Seeing the drooling ogre beside him, he gave a portion of the cooked meat to the ogre. However, it was clearly not enough to satisfy him as he looked expectantly at Lin Huang. However, Lin Huang smiled as he rejected him.
” A few pieces is enough to savour the flavour. In order to satisfy you, I would have to spend the entire night roasting meat and even then it wouldn’t be enough. Besides, the surrounding monsters should have detected the meat’s scent. We need to leave.” Lin Huang stood as he finished explaining to the ogre. Tyrant stood up as well, having understood Lin Huang’s intentions.
“Carry me east. With your speed, we should be able to leave this region in two hours. We can rest then.” Lin Huang turned to Tyrant once more and told him.
Tyrant lowered his hand to allow Lin Huang onto his palm. He then placed Lin Huang on his shoulders.
Just as Lin Huang sat down. A strange look crossed his face. He looked down at the ogre’s shoulders. It was covered in a patch of long coarse hair akin to a boar’s mane.
What a miscalculation… This ogre’s hair is stabbing into my butt…

I was Born the Unloved Twin
You've probably heard this sort of story before. Once upon a time, blah blah blah a boy and a girl fell love and everything was beautiful and perfect, except for this thing called life getting in their way. He was this cool foreign prince and she was basically perfect. Really it's a very boring run of the mill story. I'll even spoil it for you, they kill the villainess at the end. Not the type of story I'd read personally. So where do I fit into this?Apparently I'm her older twin sister and the very very lucky fiance to the foreign prince. You know, the dead villainess? Sucks I know. Now I get to do it all over again from the beginning.Curse my life ------ So you're somewhat interested in what this thing is about and looking to see if it's even worth reading? Let's get the worst of it out of the way first: This is a boring story, very tedious, mundane and downright just boring. It's too slow, the characters are too confusing & make possibly retarded choices. It's an isekai/reborn type Slice of Life novel that plays on the villainess noble girl trope but the MC gets no OP cheats, no magical powers, not even some satisfying face slapping or such self-fulfillment fantasy. Wow, I'm doing a terrible job advertising this thing. If you're somehow still interested, if you were ever interested how an average modern person, reborn with all their host's memories, could live out their life in this situation, mending personal relationships one step at a time, or wondered what happened in between all the time skips in other novels, maybe give Unloved Twin a try. This is an awkward novel, the pacing is slow, and there is no time skips. For some reason still, I really love this little story I'm making. Talk to me on: https://discord.gg/ARkSMFPbew

Taverns edge - A mercenary's guide to Ley Line traveling
The taverns edge is a fiction that centers around a pair of unusual friends. A mercenary that happens to be a princess of fae, but prefers to stay in a well-known établissement instead of staying in the Sidhe. Moira. Being half a dragon doesn't really help getting along with snobbish elitists at her mother's court. Like all sidhe she likes to strike a good deal... Which has led into many a disaster... Though she always tends to get by, especially when she gets home to the Tavern on the edge. The mentioned établissement is run by the formidable Barkeeper and jack of all trades Tora, who happens to have a very interesting past. Which involves more than one sinister secret... Now add to the mix a totally clueless elven girl - a mortal, not a fae- on the run. Lunara. She has unknowingly struck a deal with the devil - quite literally. Now unable to handle the consequences on her own she enters the tavern on the edge. An epicenter for magic and the only place where she might find help. She talks Moira into helping her out. A race against time begins as the deal's symbols appear on Lunara's skin. The journey leads to the dwarven empire, the sidhe and wherever the crossing leylines under the tavern may lead. This fiction belongs to the same universe as Ancient Blood. English is not my native language, so please don't be harsh. This story is an adaption of an idea, that we, a friend of mine and me, have developed over a few months while taking a break from learning. Some parts were written by Emberspark. Thank you for allowing me to work with your ideas and letting me publish this as a whole. Updates... I will try to frequently update both of my fictions... Well in case you are interested I post it on Scribble hub, too. I really don't steal from myself 😂
