Monster Paradise Chapter 9: The Suite Life of Lin Huang and Lin Xin
Judging by the courtyard, the hotel’s owner should be pretty similar to Li Lang. A fastidious person. Painting a mental image of an older Li Lang in his mind, Lin Huang walked into the hotel. However, that fantasy was shattered as soon as he saw the person himself.
The owner was middle aged stocky man with a very plain appearance and looked to be about 40 to 60. However, he had a fair complexion without much wrinkles. Forgettable. An apt description except for his one defining feature. A well polished pinball “hairstyle”.
Unlike Li Lang, the owner did not seem to care much about his apparel. He sported a bright yellow short sleeved shirt that was clearly a size bigger than it needed to be. Calling it a short robe at this point would’ve been more apt. He wore a pair of baggy blue pants to finish the ensemble. They were one size bigger than necessary as well and nearly covered his shoes.
“Greetings sir. Are you the guest staying at room 302?” The bald man flashed a toothy smile as he greeted Lin Huang with an amiable expression, from the concierge.
“Yup, are you the owner of this hotel? The courtyard’s really well designed.” Lin Huang handed over his room card for registration while commenting.
“Thank you, it’s one of my few pastimes. It’s just a casual attempt at decorating, I wouldn’t go so far as to call it well designed.” The owner humbly smiled back.
Lin Huang was slightly taken aback. Upon seeing the owner’s appearance, he assumed the owner hired a landscaper to create that chinese garden. There was a severe disconnect between a man who dresses so shabbily and the intricately designed garden outside.
“Your room is on the third floor on the right sir. Head to the end of the hallway and you should see it.” The owner pointed in said direction as he returned the room card.
Lin Huang took the card and prepared to head off to his room. However, the owner called out to him again.

“By the way, sir, your neighbor in room 301 has an awkward habit. Every morning before dawn, he will head to the courtyard to train with his blade. If you hear any noises, we seek your kind appreciation regarding this.”
” Alright, I understand.” Without giving it much thought, Lin Huang nodded and left for his room.
The stairs creaked as Lin Huang walked up the spiral redwood stairs. The railings were engraved with intricate floral designs. A lifelike vine ran down the railings, dotted occasionally with leaves and flowers of varying sizes.
As he opened his room door, he momentarily looked at room 301 and wondered what kind of person lived in that room. He shook his head and reminded himself. Doesn’t matter what kind of person he is, the most pressing issue is the Reserve Hunter Exam and the preparations I need to make!
Before he knew it, the door swung open and his room came into view. “Was the Federation always this generous?” he muttered to himself as he stood rooted in shock.
It was a suite. The living room spanned a 100 meter square and the effort put into the interior design was apparent at first glance. A golden chandelier hung in the middle of the room illuminating the room with a radiant display of wealth and luxury. The incandescent lights bounced off the shiny gold, giving the chandelier the appearance of a miniature sun.
The decor could be described as being luxurious without being ostentatious. If one did not count in the chandelier. However, their nondescript appearance belied their extravagance. The furniture all had gold trimmings. If one did not pay close attention, this detail would have gone unnoticed.
The owner must be really rich, even the carpet had gold embroidered in it… As he bent down and peeked underneath the carpet. Fuck, it’s real gold!
Priced at 300 credits per gram, gold was evidently highly prized in this world as well, mainly for crafting jewelry. The gold trimming on this carpet’s mosaic alone was worth 100000 credits.
That chandelier is probably worth over ten million credits…
As he walked around the room, Lin Huang couldn’t help but think to himself. No wonder each room cost a thousand credits per night.

This suite came with a living room and 2 rooms with their own separate bathroom. Lin Huang moved into the slightly larger bedroom on the left. It came with a balcony which overlooked the flower garden before. Pushing aside the door, Lin Huang spotted a rattan with a rattan hammock beside it.
One day, when I’ve become rich, I’ll buy a house and a courtyard like this. I should get the owner to do the interior design for me… Lin Huang smiled as he fantasized about his suite life, lazily sunbathing on the hammock.
As soon as school was over, Lin Xin rushed over to the Stalwart Suites. The thought of living in the Stalwart Suites gave her slender legs an uncharacteristic amount of strength. However, as she stood at the hotel’s entrance, she wavered slightly. She didn’t step but instead contacted her brother with her Imperial Heart Ring.
Her pinkie connected with the HeartNet and soon a voice could be heard from it. “School’s over?”
“I’m at the hotel entrance.” Lin Xin said in a small voice.
“Alright, just head on up to room 302.” As he said this, Lin Huang got up from his hammock and surveyed the courtyard and waved at his sister.
Seeing the figure of her brother waving at her from the balcony, Lin Xin finally believed that her brother did not lie to her, and finally stepped into the hotel. As she stepped into the hotel, she saw the owner looking at him. Guessing his thoughts, she went up and explained “I’m looking for my brother. His name is Lin Huang.”
“Oh. That little brother. He’s in room 302. Third Floor. On the right, at the end of the hallway.”
“Thanks.” Lin Xin replied and stuck her tongue cheekily before climbing up the stairs.
As she approached the end of the hallway, she saw an open door at the end. She looked at the number plate on the door. “302, Should be the right place.” She confirmed the number and walked into the suite.
“Wow…!”
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Lin Huang walked over slowly and handed a glass of fruit juice.
“Yup!” Lin replied, enthusiastically nodding her nodded. As she looked at the fruit juice, a worried look crossed her face.
“Is the fruit juice expensive?”
“Nope, all the food in the suite is complimentary. I double checked with the boss.” Lin Huang laughed as he explained.
Hearing this, Lin Xin finally accepted the drink and started sipping it. Her eyes lit up as the cold juice caressed her tongue. The glass was soon emptied. “It’s really good Brother, what’s it made of?”
“I have no idea. The owner said he made it himself. He called it Tranquility Tea. Its main ingredient is the juice from the roots of a Plant type monster. I liked it as well.” Lin Huang had already drank several cups of it. While he normally did not like sweet foods, this juice was clearly an exception.
“His cooking is pretty good as well. Are you hungry? We can go for dinner right now.” Lin Huang had prior experience with the owner’s cooking as he had his lunch in the hotel as well.
While she wasn’t particularly hungry, upon hearing her brother’s praise for the food, she changed her mind.
The siblings rushed out of their suite and headed for the dining room on the 2nd floor.
There were several guests already digging in by the time they reach it. From their outfit, they were probably Hunters. In all likelihood, they were the hunters from the recent extermination operation.
It was a buffet style dinner service with a plethora of dishes displayed in small buffet plates. Each of them were mysteriously kept warm by an unknown heat source.
Lin Huang and Lin Xin chose a table and started piling on their favourite dishes.
There weren’t many guests in the dining room. They were happily chatting away while Lin Huang and Lin Xin were busy wolfing down their food.
Suddenly, the room fell quiet as all the conversation stopped simultaneously.
Seeing all the guests turn towards the doorway, the siblings looked up as well…
Translator: I have to say this was one of the weaker chapters I’ve seen an author write…It wasn’t very pleasant translating this.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

The Flesh and Blood Dungeon
This is not the usual dungeon core story. I did not originally plan to make it humorous, but, well, you'll see. This fiction will not turn into a story about a bunch of adventurers who enter a giant boars anus looking for treasure. No promises tho.
