Lin Huang focused on his gaze on his internal system. Gazing at his Life Wheel, on top of the black card, there were 3 crystal cards.

Close to the black card, is his Master Card. The card body is made up of a white crystal and on the card front is a portrait of himself. The portrait replicated his appearance to a tee even going so far as to recreate his clothes.

On the Card back is the attribute display he previously saw.

The second card is completely made out of white crystal as well.At the bottom of the card front there was a row of 3 Metallic Black Stars. A portrait of a young red-eyed vampire occupied the rest of the card front.

After inspecting the card front, the card automatically flipped to the back. A similar attributes display was displayed on the back as well.

“I wonder what’s Blackie’s Rarity?” Lin Huang had hunch…It should be similar to 《XXmyouji》’s rarity system of N, R, SR, SSR.

[The current monster card rarity classification system consists of the following ranks :

Normal (White Crystal card), Rare ( Green Crystal card), Epic (Blue Crystal card), Legendary (Purple Crystal Card), Divine (Orange Crystal Card).]

… Lin Huang was rendered speechless by the classification system.

“At least《XXmyouji》gave out a free SR familiar when you started the game….”

“I can’t believe that after transmigrating to a different world, I ended up in worse situation.”

” A Normal card as my only starting card… I wonder if the gap in combat strength between the different Rarities is huge?”

[Assuming the same Combat Rank among monster cards, a Rare card has 3 to 5 times the prowess of a Normal card]

“What about the difference between Epic and Legendary?”

[Master’s clearance is too low… Request Denied!]

“By the way, what are the chances of me drawing a Rare card from your gachapon?” After listening to Blackie’s explanation, Lin Huang recalled he was awarded a Random Card Draw. He eagerly waited for Blackie’s response.

[Pray to RNGesus.]

“You are kidding… Pray to RNGesus? Shouldn’t there be a fixed probability?” His eyes widened in shock as continued asking. For the stepson of RNGesus, this was the reply he absolutely he didn’t want to hear.

[Nope. It is completely up to RNGesus.]

“Well fuck…” Lin Huang couldn’t help but feel a need to facepalm.

“In my previous card game, I even attained the title of RNGesus’s Stepson. My only affinity with the word Luck is that unLucky had a similar name. After transmigration to this world, the probability of drawing a rare card is [Pray to RNGesus]?!…”

After calming down, Lin Huang continued inspecting the cards. A quirk caught his eye while he was scrolling down.

“Why is there a parentheses next to that card’s Combat Rank?”

[Master’s strength is too low. The card automatically lowered its Combat Rank to suit Master. The rank in the parentheses is the card’s true rank.]

“According to the card’s attributes display, it states the vampire card is available for summoning. Does that mean I am able to summon a vampire into existence?” Lin Huang’s eyes lit up as he noticed that line.

As he was about to summon the vampire, Lin Huang spotted a white-feathered Surveillance Bird perched on top of a nearby building. He wasn’t sure how long it had been standing there but he quickly suppressed his desire to test out the summoning system.

Surveillance Birds were originally called Three-eyed Ravens and are a bird species monster. They had cone of vision spanning 360° and could monitor a distance of up to 30 km without any blind spots. The third eye on their forehead had a recording and projection ability which made them useful for monitoring incidents and preventing potential hazards. A large of number of these birds were tamed by humans for use in the Safety Zones.

Lin Huang definitely didn’t want his Blessing to be exposed. He squatted down and started looting the vampire’s body.

In a low voice he said ” Blackie, regarding that rating at the end of the card… Who rated it?”

[Me!]

“…”

” Alright.”

After receiving such a resolute answer, Lin Huang couldn’t help but sigh in exasperation. His luck was already bad enough. The last thing he needed is to offend his own Blessing. He resigned himself to his fate and started inspecting the third crystal card.

The card’s body was made up of a golden crystalline material. The card front depicted a golden ladder while the card back contained a short description.

[Advancement Card]

[Purpose: Used to advance the rank of the following cards once: Monster cards, Tool Cards, Skill Cards]

[Remarks: Multiple advancement cards may be used on the same card up to the card’s maximum rank. ]

“Blackie, correct me if I’m wrong but is it true that I am able to advance the rank of that Vampire card up to Divine as long as I used enough Advancement Cards?” Lin Huang quickly asked.

[That is correct.]

Lin Huang hesitated for moment while looking at that Vampire Monster Card. He finally decided to save his advancement card for now.

After searching through the vampire’s body, Lin Huang did not any significant discoveries. As he stood up and was about to leave, he saw a white figure appear in front of him.

It was a handsome youth of around 20 years of age. He wore a pure white suit and had a perfectly slick back hairstyle that shone under the sunlight.

Narcissist!

This was the first impression Lin Huang had of this youth.To him, most men would favour comfort over style. Men who liked dressing up are often narcissistic. However, a second word quickly to Lin Huang’s mind. Sissy!

That was the impression Lin Huang got after looking at the garish red tie the youth wore. The tie was embroidered with golden flowers that looked like golden specks from a distance.

Just as Lin Huang was evaluating the youth, the youth was evaluating Lin Huang as well.

” Hello, I am Li Lang. Did you kill this vampire?” Li Lang quickly came to this conclusion after seeing the gun in Lin Huang’s hand and the gunshot wounds on the vampire’s head. However what puzzled him was how was this teenager able to kill a vampire. This teenager didn’t even possess the combat rank of Blackiron. His Life Wheel seems to have inborn defects and his Prana consumption rate is astonishing.

“I guess so. The vampire was severely weakened by a Blood Suppression Factor before invading my home. It was due to sheer luck that I managed to kill it.” Lin Huang chose not to lie as the Surveillance Bird was still in the vicinity.

“That voice… You are the one who sent out that SOS?!” Li Lang connected the dots as he heard Lin Huang’s Voice.

“That is correct, Mr Li Lang.” Lin Huang chuckled bitterly as he nodded. He did not expect to be recognized so quickly.

“Since you aren’t a trainee hunter, I’ll bring this corpse back for processing for you. I’ll make sure to report the incident and the fact that you killed this vampire to the higher-ups. The Hunter’s Association should mail the reward shortly thereafter.”

Lin Huang wasn’t afraid of the other party siphoning away his reward since the Surveillance Bird was still in vicinity recording. Plus, he seems rich…

Seeing that Lin Huang acceded, Li Lang took out a nearly 2 metre long leather bag. The source of the leather was a mystery as the leather had a shiny black exterior and had showed signs of excellent craftsmanship. After putting on a pair gloves, Li Lang stored the corpse and pulled on the leather bag’s drawstring to seal it. Once the bag was confirmed to be sealed, he stowed the bag into his Storage Space.

Lin Huang was slightly taken aback by Li Lang’s careful actions. It’s just a corpse… Just dump it into the Storage Space and be done with it.

“Hey whatsyourname… Since you are done with the work, I’ll head home. My sister is still waiting for me at home.”

“I’ll accompany you. That monster should have made mess of your house right? I should be able to help with the repairs.” A small matter such as assessing the damage wasn’t usually done by official Hunters but Li Lang wanted to know how was Lin Huang able to kill the vampire and the best way to do this was to inspect the battleground.

“It’s fine. I’ll send a video recording to the Federation’s 7th district department. They can send their personnel to assess the damages then.” Lin Huang was familiar with the usual procedures; A Silver Hunter would not offer to assess the damages without a reason. He must have some ulterior motive!

“I have a habit of seeing my assignments through to the end. Since I am already here, I might as well assess the damages otherwise this matter would bother me constantly.”

“I’ll record the entire process and send it to the Federation so you don’t have to send in a request. Don’t forget, the Hunter Association is part of the Federation as well. There’s no need to trouble them. Besides, it will be easier for you make your insurance claims.” Li Lang explained with a serious expression on his face.

Lin Huang hesitated for a moment but upon seeing that the other party was unlikely to give up, he agreed.

“Right, let’s go!” Seeing Lin Huang agree with him, Li Lang started heading off to the only house he saw with the lights still on.

“It’s this way…”
