Chapter 49: A scream for help
Lei was having ball-breaking pain due to these freaky subjects from Sui Xiong . He was thinking very attentively . However, the more he thought about it, the more distressed he felt . No matter how hard he thought, he still couldn’t find a satisfactory answer .
Hence, he couldn’t sleep that night .
He of course didn’t know that these problems that Sui Xiong had brought up were from the comments created by the “malice world” on the internet about the public figures . Even if he were not a thief in this bizarre world but a scholar from Earth, he would still be distressed when facing this problem and couldn’t give a perfect answer .
On the second day, when Sui Xiong was about to talk with him about the subject related to life again, Lei directly tore apart two pieces of cloths, stuffed them in his ears, determined not to cooperate .
Sui Xiong for sure could get those two rags out of Lei’s ears easily . But if he didn’t want to talk about these things, why should Sui Xiong court a rebuff for himself? The melon would not be sweet if it was picked while still green, forcing something could not lead to the desired result .
There was something we couldn’t force others, but something we had to .
For example, saving people…
That day, at nightfall, their distance to the Ash Rock mountain range’s border had already been shortened . At their camp, they could hear the sound of struggling and asking for help .
According to Lei’s intention, as he didn’t want to camp at the Ash Rock mountain range, he was trying to keep going further, even if he had to walk through the night . But they were very doomed to meet a steep cliff . Sui Xiong displayed a reconnaissance spell to find a detour to go around the steep cliff . It took them one day to pass this cliff . Even if they built a bridge, it would not be likely they could leave more quickly . Sui Xiong himself was disinclined to build a bridge . Lei thereby could only choose to take the detour . Hence, the length of their journey increased greatly . He also had no other choice than sleeping outside in the mountain .
Lei was not afraid of sleeping outside . They had reached the border area of the Ash Rock mountain range, which theoretically didn’t have any devil beasts roaming around, and even if there were, there would also be the ‘ruined army, defeated general’ . These days when he advanced deep into the mountain, the number of mighty devil beasts he had killed was not small, not to mention these weak chickens! It was simply an injustice death which gave him more convenience .
It was just that he was really sick of the environment of this mountain . Regardless of the ferocious beasts, those poisonous insects breeding like flies made him unable to withstand any longer . Even if he had taken the anti-poisonous medicine and that he didn’t need to worry about being poisoned, the buzzing, chirping and gurgling sounds really pissed him off!
Furthermore, the day before, Sui Xiong had found him to discuss the life matter, which had added up to his annoyance .

Sui Xiong didn’t talk about those awkward problems – ball-breaking things anymore; or earnestly heeled him to discuss about “The most valuable to a human is one’s life, life only belongs to each person once . . . “, or “A personal capability has a dimension, as long as there is a soul . . . “, and so on .
These problems gave him a cautious feeling, which was even more annoying than those ball-breaking problems . Maybe he could not avoid talking about these things, because if he did so, it would make his mind feel weak .
Yet, hashing out these problems before bedtime would obviously affect the quality of the sleep badly . In addition, those “Let’s me sing” innumerable successively jabbering sounds of the insects were the cause of his insomnia these days . His mental state deteriorated as well .
Therefore, he was extraordinarily looking forward to the day he could get out of this mountain, entering the Gold Coin Federation . At least, that place would certainly have some signs of human habitation or some human person who was passionate in the subject that this humane passionate teacher, the jellyfish God, would want to talk . It would allow him to have a sound sleep afterward .
Even though that disgusting jellyfish God was still the same, clinging to him to discuss about those too-deep problems, it was at least less noisy than the crying sound of the insects!
But today, it was not good .
Lei’s mood was really bad . Therefore, when he heard the sound of fighting and cry for help transmitting from the distant place, he completely ignored .
“There is someone endangered . ” Sui Xiong said .
“Yes, that’s right . ” He took out a blanket, intended to make use of the tiredness after eating fully to try to sleep .
“Don’t you perhaps want to save them?” Sui Xiong asked .
“I don’t think so . ” Lei answered, then immediately lay down .
Really quickly, Sui Xiong jumped on to his head, used one of his tentacles to press against Lei’s temple .
These tentacles were bone-chilling cold, giving a strange and sharp feeling which made Lei couldn’t help but doubt that red and white things in his skull might flow out a second later .
“You . . . What do you want to do!” He was freaked out, loudly asked .
“Help you fix your mind . ” Sui Xiong laughed out loud, “Your brain is full of nasty and evil things . I help you clean up a little bit . “
Lei was frightened, hurriedly rejected, “But before, my brain will also be sucked out!”
“It doesn’t matter . ” Sui Xiong said, “You want to get something, you have to lose something . The exchange principle is the rule to live in this life . Don’t you think that it is very profitable to trade a little bit of your brain for the kindness and peace?”
“I don’t see any profit in this at all! I don’t want any damned peace or kindness!” Lei loudly objected .
“Objection’s invalid! Regarding an evil person, is it obvious to have a mighty person to decide?”
” . . . I’ve got it . Dang, I’ll go save those people!”
Sui Xiong laughed heartily, retrieved his tentacle: “Good choice . If you have done it sooner, it would have reduced works for other people . “

Lei forced a smile, took out the pike on his back and the long sword on his waist to check again then departed toward the direction of the struggling and crying for help sound .
His strength was already formidable and after having been through this period of trekking, he had gotten used to walking in the mountain . Step by step, he bounced on and off the rock like flying . He was like a powerful ape jumping in the forest . In just a short while, he had reached the place where the sound came from .
All he could see was four adventurers fighting fiercely with a giant bear whose height doubled a normal man’s .
It was not like an intense fight but more like one side was defending and taking all the beatings . The power of that giant bear was super powerful and its defense was also excellent . Although its reaction was a little slow, it protected its weak spots really well, didn’t leave the adventurers any chance to fight back .
These four adventurers were not old . The two men with entirely armored bodies, who were in charge of the front attack, were about twenty-four or twenty-five years old . The one walking around with a bow and arrows was probably twentyish . And finally the one who was lying down on a tree branch using magic to support others was not even close to twenty years old yet . They were just a bunch of youngsters .
Being young often meant lacking of experience and maturity, which meant that they were short of strengths . The mortality rate of the young adventurers was the highest due to their lack of experience . They usually didn’t know how to avoid dangers—–and more than half of the veteran adventurers were able to avoid those dangers .
For example, if Rhodes and Rennes, the kind of much-traveled people , were to confront that giant bear they were fighting, they would directly throw this block of flesh away, eat a little of meat among the messy flesh all over the ground, then slowly retreat . They would even prepare some sweets and climb on to a tall tree to lure the giant bear out of that place .
In this world, most of the bears were a little lazy; moreover they were addicted to sweets . Therefore, if they could reduce the time to go looking for food, they normally didn’t want to get injured when fighting with the fully-armed adventurers . But if the sweets were offered in front of their eyes, they would turn away and leave right away . In addition, they would be too lazy to lay their eyes on the “I am a prey”-looking existence .
However, these youngsters obviously didn’t know these experiences, or they lacked preparation . Thus, they could only rely on their not-fully-grown bodies to fight against the giant bear .
The odds of the success of this battle was distant and indistinct, since that giant bear was not any different from the top matured “Ferocious Beast”, and was just one step away from becoming a “Devil Beast” . If it were an adventurer, they would need at least an army with full equipment and veteran adventurers—who were generally on the same level with the “Bald Head” Nien – Gerrard and his comrades that year—–to fight, based on the premise that no one would be seriously injured .
But these four young adventurers in Sui Xiong eyes were like those night skeletons in the White Leaf Village, holding shields to fight against Gerrard . One against four, they were more likely to lose two . Each one of the remaining two would carry wounds as well .
Very clearly, they basically didn’t have a possibility to defeat that giant bear . The reason why there hadn’t been anyone injured yet was simply due to their perfect teamwork, which surely gave them the resisting force .
One of those two who were in charge of the front line was a soldier and the other was a priest . Both of them were wearing heavy armors and shields . The sturdy defending equipment had done them a great favor . Not only once did they get all of them out of crisis . Moreover, relying on the help of the heavy defending equipment, the priest sometimes had time to pray for a while then cast magic, which could help either him or his friends recover their physiques .
Besides, the effect of this priest’s magic was not small . Even though it was not an advanced magic, it was simply a magic shield using the missile technology . It looked vaguely satiny, yet it must be too hard for that young shaman . They were very busy whenever they displayed this kind of magic .
In other words, they were constantly consuming their team’s magic casting ability to wear out the giant bear’s physique .
Well, it was just only physique . Because until now, the giant bear basically didn’t have any wound .
If thing kept going like this, the ending was pretty clear—–after using up their magic powers, those four adventurers completely had no way to stand firm fighting back the giant bear anymore . Until that time came, that archer could escape . Between the soldier and the priest, one of them could also escape . But one of the remaining two, the death of the shaman, whose movements were not quite flexible and quick, was cast .
Lei was ambushing close to the battlefield, attentively watching them fighting in silence . He also didn’t rush to surge in .
“Don’t you go save people?” Sui Xiong transferred his words to Lei’s head through his magic .
Lei slightly shook his head, relying on the communicative spirit to answer, “It’s not time yet . They can still withstand . “
“Until they cannot hold on anymore, they would have been severely injured . “
“It is not that serious because I will make a move before that—-to those youngsters, fighting hard until the very last moment is a precious experience for them, effectively helping them grow up . “
Sui Xiong didn’t urge him anymore . Talking about the adventure problem, Lei was an expert, and if he said this would be better for those youngsters, then Sui Xing chose to believe in him .
Let alone . . . . even though he didn’t want to reach his hands out to save people, when the critical moment came, Sui Xiong could save them by himself anyway .
Wasn’t everything of this kind of battle in his hand!

The Blood Queen
The rain fell from the sky with ferocity and smashed into the pavement filling the air with the sound of a stampede. The noise was deafening as I struggled to stand up. The blood from my wound was covering the ground beneath me and I covered it with my hand as I pushed off the pavement. On my feet now I struggled to step towards the grass. Through the howling wind and pounding raindrops I could hear what sounded like a chant, calling me and drawing me towards the cliffs edge. "Vienna, my Queen, my blood Queen" I started to move my feet faster until I could run towards the edge. Only when I was at the edge did I turn and look back one last time at the castle behind me. I could see him standing on the balcony, he was screaming my name. I could just hear it over the rain. I unclipped my red cape and whispered goodbye to him. As he jumped off the balcony to run towards me I leaned backwards and let my body fall with the rushing water to the river far down below. I carried her whispers with me to the dark edge until they vanished.
