Chapter 40: Chapter 40
Picking up good stuffs?
When seeing A Xue’s uncompromisable attitude and looking back the big weapon trunk, Palin hesitated for a long while, then finally couldn’t fight back the temptation of “Picking up good stuffs” . He then paid ten gold coins .
After that, he looked closely at the weapon trunk to choose one item under the gaze of A Xue .
As a shaman, not to mention that he used to work in a caravan, Palin still had little experience of evaluating weapons . He scanned left and right . Really quickly, he found a pretty valuable item .
That was a leather armor . More than half of it was broken . One-third of the armor was still good . The leather armor was still considered quite complete . After a careful check, he felt that this leather armor was made by the divine beast to block fire . Although the remnant was not big, with an appropriate adjustment, it could be used as a chest fire protection item . In the worst situation, it could still be used as a pair of fire protection gloves .
A pair of fire protection gloves was not counted as an enchanted weapon, but its value would be at least more than a hundred gold coins . As compared to the amount he had to pay, this was just a little human work .
This discovery made him more excited . Therefore, he didn’t hurry to finish . After digging up this broken leather armor, he continued immersing himself into finding another one .
But his luck seemed to run out this time . After a long while, he still couldn’t find the second valuable item .
Finally, Palin couldn’t stand but lower his voice to ask, “Highness, do you think . . . What is the most valuable item in this trunk?’
Sui Xiong had expected this long ago, he smiled, “It depends on how you value that stuff . “
“Highness . . . You mean?”
“There are many valuable things inside this trunk but it may not have the valuable item that you are looking for . ” Sui Xiong continued, “First, ask yourself what do you want then come and ask me again . “
Palin was a little bit surprised, he then instinctively said, “I of course want to have a powerful weapon . “
“Powerful weapon, what exactly does that mean?” Sui Xiong asked back .
Palin drowned in his thoughts .
Thinking about what on earth was the definition of “powerful equipment”? It could not be determined by the price .
For example, to a game nerd, a top-notch suit of keyboard and keyboard belonged to the powerful equipment category . If it was the DIY equipment from a computer expert, the keyboard would be customized with a row of hotkeys which was a great advantage to complete hard levels . Then it was definitely a powerful weapon .
That year, when Sui Xiong was still in university, he had beaten a Junior Brother in a game . The player of the Junior Brother was beaten brutally to the point that it consecutively vomited blood . After that, that Junior Brother was so pissed off that he spent an entire month to customize his keyboard . This customized keyboard was not much different from other ordinary one, except for twenty keys which were a great help for him when playing . Relying on this holy weapon, this Junior Brother, whose level was far behind him, had swiped out all the players in the school and become invincible . He could be called an amateur non-rival powerhouse .

If an amateur competition didn’t allow one to use illegal weapons, this Junior Brother could still rely on this electrical holy weapon to beat other professionals .
Of course, to get such a powerful weapon like this to fight in a real battle inside this trunk was absolutely impossible but this trunk still had some less powerful weapons . . .
Palin thought for a very long time . In the end, he had figured out what on earth he wanted .
“Highness, does this trunk have a black art book that is left behind by a mighty shaman?” He asked .
“Of course it has . Flip over the plain cotton cloth inside the trunk . You will probably find half of a back art book . The level of magic in this book is not low . As compared to your ability right now, it might be too hard for you . Satan is more suitable . “
“But I have to remind you . The magic inside this black art book is very strange . It might bring you some troubles . “
Palin thought a while, then decided to find the half black art book based on Sui Xiong’s direction .
To a caster, a black art book from a superb senior was the crystallization of experience and wisdom, the symbol of heritage, which was really hard to resist . Despite the trouble he would have, he could not resist the temptation of having this book .
The pages of the book were made from devil beast’s skin . They looked really old . Although the ink that was used to write this book had faded out, the words were still very clear . These words were written in a non-common ancient Elf language, which was complicatedly long-winded yet could express correct meaning . This was one of the languages a shaman would use in a rare compulsory situation .
To become a shaman, one must know many languages . Except for the common mainland language, an ancient Elf language hid a magical dragon word which could directly cast magic to release the Dwarf rune language, and particular languages of heaven and hell creatures, and also commonly used mystic language of shamans . . . If listing out those commonly used languages, there would be at least ten types .
Although Palin was just a little shaman who had not experienced much, the required ancient Elf language could not win him . He could immediately understand the content of the black art book——by the way, Palin was from a Northern powerful magic country . He also got education from Satan . He knew a total of thirty different languages and was indeed, an omnipotent interpreter .
Palin looked at the book . His eyes were like they were locked above the black art book, didn’t move an inch .
“This thing . . . turns out to be . . . . Dragon-slaying magic? !”
Dragon-slaying black art? !
After hearing this, A Xue froze for a moment, furrowed her brows then looked toward the kid . The kid was also shocked . He was still bewildered as he carefully recalled his memory .
Palin’s eyes were entirely attracted by the content in the black art book . He of course didn’t notice these things . He didn’t blink, just looking at the black art book, couldn’t help but mutter, “Does the Dragon-Slaying magic . . . really exist?”

“It depends on how you define it . ” The kid had recovered his composure, walked over, giggled then said, “If your requirement is ‘A deep asleep dragon is lying in front of your face, isn’t prepared for your magic casting to kill it’, then this kind of magic really exists . “
While speaking, he naturally came to Palin’s back, and together, looked at the book with Palin .
Palin was amused by him as his fingers stroke the shattered pages of the book . His eyes were staring attentively at a complicated magic model . After a long while, he finally understood the principle .
“Judging from this magic principle, the requirement seems not that strict . As long as you can hit the target, it will cause great damage to the dragon . ” He said .
“But the thing called “Great Damage” to the Giant Dragon, in fact is really limited . ” The kid slightly furrowed his brows, then smiled and continued saying, “The Giant Dragon’s vitality could not be compared to a normal creature’s . “
While he was saying, an ash-gray shadow appeared behind him, along with a vague scream, charging toward Palin’s head .
The speed of this shadow was incredibly fast . If Palin was hit by this shadow, his head would have definitely shattered, blood and flesh would be scattered all over the ground, he would be dead for sure . But before that shadow could hit its target, Palin’s bracelet slightly shook . A transparent jellyfish mirage appeared in the air, swung up its tentacles . A condensed ice energy suddenly showed up, formed into an ice light protection in front of Palin’s head and blocked that shadow .
Bam!
Following the intense collision was the heavy crashing sound . That shadow was beaten back . The kid’s face showed a surprising look . He hurried back . Within just a couple of steps, both of his hands had turned into frightful sharp claws . Behind him was a thick and long tail .
The thing that had sneaked an attack on Palin was this tail .
At this moment, the familiar bright smiling face was no longer there . Instead, this kid put on a bizarre appearance, which didn’t only have brutal murderous intent, but also a terrifying bearing .
That was the bearing from a powerhouse to a weak man, more exactly was the one from a predator to a prey in a food chain .
If it were just Palin, even if he had luckily escaped the sneak attack, facing such a bold and cold-hearted demeanor like this, he could only either flee or beg for forgiveness . But right now, Palin was not the only one being anxious . His enemy was the same .
“You . . . What on earth are your identities!” The kid who had turned into a frightening appearance was both surprised and scared, he asked loudly .
Sui Xiong didn’t answer his question, on the other hand, answered another thing, “To be honest, the power of the “Dragon-slaying magic” in that black art book is not that strong . If it really hits the Giant Dragon, there might be just a light wound . If that feeble-minded Giant Dragon has turned into a human form, and such magic strikes down, it will not be a surprise that a whole family dies . “
“And you, you dare to steathily attack my believers . Prepare to take my punishment!”
His words had not finished yet as the transparent jellyfish suddenly shattered, turned into countless light spots, and fused with the ice energy in the air . The tentacles were immediately enlarged several times bigger, turned into rough and giant ones which were now ferociously charging toward the kid .
The ice light in this kid’s eyes flashed up . His two claws took those tentacles . He always believed in his power . Even if it were a devil beast, don’t dream of taking the upper hand .
An explosive sound came up . The tentacles and the sharp claws heavily collided . The floating giant jellyfish body shook in the air . That kid was defeated once again His feet left behind two deep traces on the floor . He took four to five steps back in one time .
“How can!” He rolled his eyes in surprise . He could not believe that he was defeated by that power above .
“Wait until you fall on the ground then you’ll understand the possibility of the impossibility!” This time, Sui Xiong swung out up to four tentacles .
In that short moment when both sides fought, he had calculated the weird kid’s power . The opponent could at most, block the attack from two of his tentacles . Now that his attack was doubled, he absolutely could knock out this kid in one move!
But those four tentacles didn’t hit the target, on the contrary were blocked by a cold white halo .
Before that, when the laughing-out-loud A Xue saw the kid launching a sneak attack, her face was puce with anger . On one side, she used her ferocious eyes to stare at this little rascal who acted on his own initiative . On the other hand, she cast magic to create a protective screen over Palin .
She gritted her teeth . Both hands started to roll up her sleeves . She was definitely angered to the point that she wanted to hold a broom and beat down hard on this troubled kid .
But before she could take action, Sui Xiong and that kid had already been in a fight . Not to mention, the table of the fight had completely tilted to one side .
This made her somewhat twisted . She momentarily didn’t know what to do . After she had confirmed Sui Xiong’s identity, she instantly showed her frightened look .
At this moment, when she saw that kid was heavily wounded under Sui Xiong’s hands, she hurriedly came out to rescue . She glanced over the kid first then pulled all her energy into confronting Sui Xiong above . A small voice, followed by an ice prestige, came up .
“A young god? Putting frost in front of me . You have found the wrong target!”

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
