CHAPTER SIXTY
Going for a nice walk beneath the end of the world
~
Sky was well aware that she was dying fairly quick
And that at least half of her bones were broken like a stick
But thanks to her Berserker class she didn’t feel a thing
and she could go all out for the friends she was protecting
She’d never had more fun, and even though it brought her shame
Her class made every battle entertaining all the same
And even as she felt her energy slipping away
She fought as if she’d waited her whole life to fight that day
Now as she lay smiling and content on that cave’s floor
Surrounded by two friends, she couldn’t ask for anymore
She felt a little warmer now, upon the cold damp dirt
And thought it might be due to several wounds starting to hurt
But with the pain came comfort and a nostalgic feeling
And somehow it seemed almost like her body was healing
She drifting into peaceful slumber has the feeling continued
Unsure why it brought on such a melancholy mood
Achievement: Knocking on Death’s Door
Wake up sunshine, somehow you survived with just a scar
I can’t even start to explain how lucky you are
If you’re weird young friend hadn’t figured out that strange spell
You’d currently be sightseeing at the gates of hell!
Sky opened her eyes and sprung up off the dirty ground
The echo of her movements made long and eerie sound
She cast another spell to light the cave that hurt her eyes
And then she noticed several things that cause her some surprise
First, she wasn’t injured, all the blood on her had dried
Second, Leaf was sleeping happily there by her side
Finally, the friend that she’d been searching for so long

Had completely vanished and something felt very wrong

That boy sure put lots of mana into your healing
I wouldn’t be shocked if he used almost everything
But it gave me a good chance to give your stats some love
He left right after though, what could he have been thinking of?
“What do you mean ‘wandered off’ you crazy deity?!
How come Twig was right here with us until only recently!”
Leaf awoke to hear her loud voice echo everywhere
Straightening up and picking some rocks out of his hair
“What’s the noise for, wait, where are we, and where did Twig go?
Wasn’t he right next to me a few moments ago?”
Leaf and Sky both looked around but there was nought to see
Leaf stood up but still couldn’t put weight on his bad knee
Leaf sat down again but when he looked back up at Sky
He gasped so loud she then demanded that he tell her why
“Well, I wouldn’t say that you aren’t pretty anymore
But your face is just a little different than before…”
Sky was unamused by his vague description of her
She washed her face quickly by summoning some cool water
A puddled formed, and when she saw her face’s reflection
She saw scars that seemed to flow in every direction
“Whatever, it’s just a face, we have no time to spare
For some reason, Twig is gone, he could be anywhere”
Frantically she started walking down the cave alone
Leaf stood up and limped after with a painful groan
“Slow down Sky, he couldn’t have gone far, I’m sure he’s fine

Your legs seem to be working, but could you help heal mine?”
She turned around and rolled her eyes then cast a healing spell
Though as a Berserker it was hard to cast it well
“Well, I guess that should be fine in a couple of days
It’s not like we’ll have somewhere to run soon anyways
Try and light the cave up, there might be a few caverns
I don’t want us getting lost down endless twists and turns”
Though she was annoyed, she knew her limping friend was right
Annoyed she hadn’t thought of it herself, she cast the light
As they’d feared, the cave was less a tunnel than a maze
Endless offshoots which exploring could take many days
“What do we do now? We don’t know where he went or when!”
Leaf grew worried Sky was going to go wild again
He tried to think of something that would help to calm her nerves
Drawing on all of the mental strength in his reserves
Then it came to him, advice he’d heard from Sky before
Something she mentioned once while hunting a Steel Tusk Boar
“Remember what you told me once about tracking your prey?
Everything that walks this world leaves foot prints on its way!”
Immediately, Sky looked down and strained her blurry eyes
“That’s right, even a small bird moves the air when it flies”
The dirty ground was rocky and their footsteps were unclear
But soon hint’s of Twig’s direction did slowly appear
Bits of dirt that stood out against the dust and stones
Mixed with specs of dried blood and the dust of powdered bones
“He really did get stronger eh, did you see him fighting?
He shattered monster bones with punches that cracked like lightning!”
Sky ignored Leaf’s comments as she focused on the trail
The thought of finding Twig in trouble made the girl’s face pale
The pair continued deep into the rocky mountainside
Undisturbed by all the chaos of the world outside

Trailblazer
The story of a man who accidentally wrote another world into existence. Everyone breaks away from their mundane daily life in one way or another. Our protagonist, an unfortunate consequence of circumstance, being no different, often escaped the harsh reality of life by writing stories of an alternate world of swords and magic. Though he recognized the difference between reality and fantasy, he could've never imagined what would happen, when the line between the two blurred as lightning struck down from the skies, and his escapism fantasy became all too real... After he came to, he would soon learn that things in the other world aren't quite as he remembered them to be. The world he wrote of had become but a shadow of its former self. Albeit hesitant at first, he sets off on a quest to find out the secrets behind the Trails, yet even then, he can't help but wonder... Can he really bring his world back to its old glory? —————————— I have never written a story before in my life and now I'm doing so in a language I don't natively speak. Groundbreaking quality is probably not something to be expected, but I do my best to keep things readable. With the necessities out of the way, both constructive criticism and other suggestions are very much welcome, and I'll do my best to take them into account when writing future chapters.
