《I'm a brick! But why am I a Humanoid? [A Non-Level LitRPG with a Humanoid MC full of Magic, Drama and Comedic Undertone]》Chapter 41- Where a baby learns that he has limits, but does he realise that?

I surveyed the room, looking through the patients. There were about 39 of them. 7 had been amputated, 18 had been wounded by sharp objects, likely weapons. 7 had head trauma. 3 were in an unexplained coma, likely the result of a stored spell of some kind.

3 had some kind of petulant disease that had caused them to have a severe case of pimples. These were quarantined, even if barely. And 1 was barely breathing under what seemed to be a combination of sword wounds and head traumas. I knew how to heal none of them.

Oh, I had vague ideas of methods of treatment. Sharp object wounds would require me to cast the lost blood and skin back in. Even the amputations could be fixed. Both would be hard however. Grandmist did not make complex structures easily, that was why a mixture of Order and Chaos was preferred for Alchemy.

The head traumas and the comas were another thing entirely. I had little idea how to fix either. I turned inward, remembering the lessons given by the various imperial teachers that had taught the royals medicine. I had even witnessed several operations of great import take place in the palace.

Sadly, knowing the spell that cured the infamous Lauanga Plague would do little to help the situation. Well I suppose it could help the diseased, the spell was quite versatile if I remembered correctly. It had to be since the plague was one that would mutate into a completely different one every few seconds.

“Alferor Almesar Curenle” I cast, letting a large amount of mana flow out. One of these days, I needed to find a way to quantify the mana. Sadly its ethereal nature had made it so that the System would not do it for you until the Grade 1. It was apparently too weak and nebulous to quantify before that.

As soon as my cast finished, the diseased were restored back to proper functioning. The spell should have removed even the innocuous pathogens from their bodies. It was the historic achievement of an entire civilization after all. Quick, Simple to cast, Efficient and effective to an astounding degree. What more could you ask?

Looking at the other patients, I had the answer, more versatility. How nice it would be if it could also heal wounds and cure head traumas. But alas, even the Raunorians had not figured out how to let a microbial cell heal wounds. Theirs could just cure diseases.

I decided that having a talk with the head of the medical staff was in order. If I couldn’t outright cure them then perhaps I could at least help in some way?

I headed towards where the medical staff was tending to the man that had just been cured of the burns. They had yet to realise that the diseased had been cured too. Or had they realised? They were picking up and wearing masks.

As I watched, two of them headed towards the quarantine area. They merely had basic gloves, mask on, something I knew would only be marginally effective against a plague. Then again a plague would have them all dead already.Perhaps they did know what they were doing.

As I approached, one of the older staff turned towards me. Bowing slightly he said,” How may I serve you, your highness?” he said.

“What is your plan of treatment for the ones with the larger piercing wounds?” I asked, and I figured that even if they used a different terminology, ‘piercing wounds’ would likely be understood.

“Ah, presuming that you refer to sword wounds your highness, the treatment we have divised is the use of Rounerol tincture applied using bandages.” the staffer said

Rounerol was a blood clotter, it caused the Irinforan, the Banmeru equivalent of fibrinogen to form the mesh and clot the wound. Its use was also considered mildly dangerous. Most doctors seemed to prefer directly giving blood while bandaging the wounds.

I might not have the mana or the expertise to pull off blood formation, but the making of blood from air molecules, or even nothing was a necessary skill for doctors. Sadly, that was not an option here and the staff was risking Rounerol clotting the blood flowing in the veins instead.

Perhaps I could help somehow? Hmm, there were certain filters that could effectively block the flow of Rounerol molecules. They were extremely mana intensive though and I did not exactly know how to cast them all. Experimenting seemed like a bad idea. I doubt any of these soldiers would approve.

Perhaps I should ask the staff about it? Hmm, I should. I turned towards the staffer and said, “How do you prevent the Rounerol from clotting the blood stream?” I asked the staffer. The staffer’s face scrunched up in irritation, his lips pressed into a thin line as he took a deep breath in.

“Your highness, while I appreciate your aid in curing the patients, please keep in mind that it has yet to be proven that Rounerol truly clots the blood in such a way. The deaths could easily be explained with other phenomena such as heart disease instead of use of Rounerol.” the staffer said

Oh no, I had forgotten that this was a more primitive society. They had yet to confirm the side effects of Rounerol. At this rate, unless we were lucky and no clot formed and clogged some vien somewhere in the body, someone was going to die. I was also helpless on how to convince the staffer of this.

“Well Medic Bevour, it would seem that even the prince agrees that Rounerol should not be used. Perhaps now you would consider using a different extract?” A woman from off to the side said. Strangely enough, that was the only woman I had seen since arriving here.

“Shut up woman. You and your kind don’t know anything. I don’t know why the Central Command allowed you on the battlefield, but I have no place for you or your ways here?” Medic Bevour replied, the sheer derision in his voice surprised me. What had this woman done to anger him so?

“I was assigned here because I am as good or even better than you,as the princess says ‘A woman can do whatever a man may, perhaps she can do it even better’ those are the wisest words I have heard in a while” the woman said

“Well, Scientist Bareil, the princess has been stripped of her title and exiled for spouting those so-called ‘wise words’.” Medic Bevour signaled towards me, a clear sign to Scientist Bareil to note my presence.

“I mean no affront to the royal family, your highness, but why did the king exile your sister even with you and all of your brothers protesting?” Scientist Bareil asked

This sounded like a political mess that I knew nothing about. Time to extract myself, “I feel that it is best that we not speculate about my royal fathers wishes. Perhaps we can try to find an alternative clotting agent?” I suggested

“I still must object to this your highness, Rounerol works perfectly fine as it has for decades. There is no reason to change it just because some woman might have discovered something.” Medic Bevour replied, still not willing to concede the fight. Oh well, Kudos to him

“Your objection is noted, Medic Bevour, but I would still prefer if we used a different clotting agent. Perhaps Almorian grass? I note some quantities of it in your bags.” I said, hoping to bring the conversation forward

“Not nearly enough of it, your highness. A full treatment would need at least 10 kgs of the substance, I have 1. And even that occupies far too much space in our limited storage. On the matter of that..” Medic Bevour said but was interrupted by me who said

“Later Medic”- Medic Bevour’s eye twitched at the blatant interruption, apparently the man was not used to being interrupted and likely never had been disrespected by someone as young as me- “If that won’t do then perhaps we can have someone go foraging? They could just follow the scout parties'' I said

“I doubt anyone would be willing to take such an hazardous task-” Medic Bevour began before he was once again interrupted

“I will gladly take the task your highness, you merely need to tell me who to follow” The good scientist said, smirking at the irritated Bevour

“Do you have any combat ability beyond the norm, Scientist? I would rather not risk your life if that is not so.” I said, meaning the words. The scientist was quite useful after all.

Scientist Bariel seemed like she was about to reply when suddenly a man, visibly shaking and crying burst in screaming, “Arlun! I need to see Arlun!”
