A mage whose knowledge of the magic arts is truly great

But her appetite for knowledge is difficult to sate

Hopefully you soon find what you’re looking for in here

To find that one spell way back when, you wasted a whole year

“It wasn’t wasted, I did find it in the end, you know

Maybe it just slipped your mind, it happened long ago”

“What’s that darling, did you need my help with something there?”

“Sorry love, my deity just had some thoughts to share”

~ Name: Oak ~

Time is running low, so please focus on your research

I’ll give you all the stats I can to aid you in your search

Once again though, what you’re looking for is beyond me

Why are mortal curses with so much curiosity

“Well look at that, it seems my god would like to chat at well

I’m afraid it seems the world has truly gone to hell

Darling, would you kindly pass me that book over there

I’d hate to knock over this pile of books here by my chair”

Oak and Hawk could clearly see the sky through a window

They were both engrossed in quite important research though

The king himself had barged in earlier to beg they fight

But they quickly sent him away for the rest of the night

“Oak, perhaps we should give them a little help this time

Taking just a little break would hardly be a crime”

Hawk sighed as she watched the royal heroes fight monsters

Through the window they could see the the plight of the fighters

“Just a little longer darling, this is a rare chance

With access to restricted archives, I feel I might dance

There’s so much lost history in here, it’s such a waste

To think the king would sooner see this history erased”

“You know the way he is, it’s all or nothing in the end

To keep his kingdom strong he’d make an enemy his friend

Let him go about his wars, it’s more like his hobby

We can clean things up once we’ve unlocked this history”

The pair continued reading in the library in peace

Even as a battle raged outside that didn’t cease

Portal monsters flew and crawled all over the city

But the pair of scholars had little time for pity

“But do you really think that Twig ties into all of this?

Any evidence of that would be quite hard to miss”

Oak closed one book and opened another as he spoke

A pipe hanging from his mouth which had long since ceased to smoke

“Although I can’t connect him to the portals directly

For such a curse as his to be random is unlikely

If there’s a god who knows something but hides from everyone

There must be some other trace of things that god has done”

“How far back should we be looking, these are pretty old

In what sort of book would tales of hidden gods be told?”

Oak had to commend his noble wife for how she thought

It was almost as insightful as the way she fought

“First, there must be something about the portals’ nature

That, and how gods might be able to know their future”

Hawk was digging through old books like playing in the sand

With a passion Oak found quite easy to understand

“You’re suggesting time magic might very well exist?

After all these years, you think there’s something we have missed?

To think I was content to just enjoy a peaceful life

But that was never an option once you became my wife”

He chuckled and looked lovingly across the library

Hawk smiled back but returned to her researching quickly

They hunted through the dusty archives, emptying the shelves

Learning secret histories of humans, dwarves, and elves

Seriously, get a move on, the whole world’s a mess

This castle may very well burn, if I had to guess

Certainly, it seems there’s something strange hiding in here

Try some unsealing spells and see if answers appear

From his magic pouch, he summoned forth a cup of tea

He’d long become accustomed to this simple luxury

Sometimes the portal war outside did cause the room to shake

But rushing through a good book was a terrible mistake
