Achievement: Good Show
Fair is fair, I’ve never seen a better show for free
It’s like you think you’ll outrun those thing eventually
I wish that you could see the stupid look on your dumb face
Well, I guess I’ll stick around to the end this time, just in case
Twig had little time for reading in his current state
Portal beasts appeared at an accelerating rate
Every time he managed to evade one creatures jaws
He’d find himself headed straight for another monster’s claws
But as he ran he noticed something changing in his heart
As the world filled up with things that could tear him apart
With every desperate step he learned about the strength he had
And some distraction from his last encounter made him glad
Out here he had no friends and family to worry for
No class or title holding back his efforts anymore
For a moment that felt like it could last forever
He now felt more at peace than he could even remember
All the time he’d spent in training his strength and magic
Was finally apparent, though his fate was still tragic
He felt the mana in the cold damp air as he ran on
As if the poison which had kept it from him was now gone
With every breath of forest air the mana in him grew

And in his single minded quest he had one thing to do
He used the power he could feel to move him through the trees
Pushing any monster which attacked away with ease
His panic even gave way to excitement for a while
With so much power in his hand, he couldn’t help but smile
He didn’t really have a destination as he ran
But running til he couldn’t was a fairly simple plan
After he was sure that sun would normally have set
He was quite surprised that he hadn’t been eaten yet
He looked behind and sure enough a horde of beasts were there
Joined by monsters he had never once seen anywhere

Stand your ground, for it prefers to chase its prey for fun

From a distance it may look like a rabbit, but big
But this creature does a lot more than just jump and dig
It could rip a part a careless traveller or two
And there is a high chance it can run faster than you

A creature much to large to mistake for a normal snake
But if you do, it will be the last mistake you make
It’s venom fills your head with nightmares you’ll wish to unsee

But you’ll die in those bad dreams while it kills you quickly
“Well, I guess it’s too late to play dead or try to hide”
He chuckled and his speed began to fill him up with pride
He made a face to mock the monsters coming from behind
Caution and good judgement starting to clear from his mind
“Come on monsters, don’t tell me you’re all too out of shape!
Are you going to let such a tasty meal escape?”
They roared as they were joined by several other new monsters
But Twig’s newfound dexterity outclassed the new hunters
Achievement: Good News!
Hey, did I just get your attention? I have some news!
And it’s the kind of good news that the both of us could use
I realized that when I make you see this big blue screen
Well, in a moment, you’ll know exactly what I mean
Twig tried to avert his eyes from the blue message box
But as his god likely planned, he overlooked some rocks
And as he tripped and fell, he felt like fate itself had scoffed
But he was most surprised when he landed on something soft

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.

Theodran [A Slice of Life, Progression Fantasy]
Release schedule: Thursday and Sunday at 12:00am CST. The world of Uneira is a desolate wasteland full of horrors and danger behind every rock, every bush, and every scraggly tree. Except for inside the Chalices, humanities frontiers and city states that have been protected by colossal white shimmering walls for generations. Only the most exceptional people brave the Unholy Wastes. But, inside of the Aetheline Chalice in its capital of Aethel, rank and status is determined by talent, skill, and archetype, but those that are extraordinary compete for prestige in the Pageship Games, where they’ll climb up the ranks to stardom or earn the right to carve a name for themselves in the Unholy Wastes after winning. *Magic is split up between Talents, Skills and Archetypes. It's my approach with a System like story without the system or other front-end applications of one. It's going to start as a bit of a slowburn coming of age, but that's really only for the first book. **There are three POV characters: Theodran, Modran, and Alanna.
