I Did Many Dangerous Things After Knowing When I Would Die Chapter 27

"The cemetery is moving! The cemetery is moving! Retreat! Retreat!"
On the surface, the whole cemetery had started to shake.
The members of the Criminal Investigation Division yelled in horror and began to retreat.
However, their withdrawal was too slow as a large pit formed in the middle of the cemetery. The few people who had been deeper in the cemetery lost their balance as they fell through the soil into the pit.
"Bob! Bob!"
One of the members shouted his teammates' name frantically. At the same time, he thrust the safety rope from his waist toward the direction of his friend with all his might.
However, the graveyard was quaking too violently. Bob was unable to grab the safety rope and soon disappeared along with the ground around him, swallowed into the depths of the earth.
Watching as Bob disappeared from his sight, the Criminal Investigation Division's team member who had tossed the safety line gritted his teeth, carried the rescue equipment, and fled to the periphery of the graveyard.
This was not the time to be sad. This graveyard was dangerous, and he could possibly be the next in line to die. He had to get out of here as soon as possible!
...
In the distance, with the aid of the searchlights, the audience in the livestream also witnessed the horrifying scene.
This was not a movie, this was a live broadcast!
The huge tomb had made its move again. As if the expedition team hadn't been enough, it had now gone after the Criminal Investigation Division as well!
Gulp...
Everyone who was watching through the livestream swallowed anxiously and felt their limbs go numb. They had never been so focused before.
What exactly was buried under this cemetery?
Could no one come up with an explanation?
Everyone wondered to themselves nervously.
...
Squeak!
The tires of a taxi screeched against the road as it stopped right in front of the blockade outside the cemetery. A few women in nurse attire helped a weak man out of the taxi.
The members of the Criminal Investigation Division who were responsible for sealing off the area quickly surrounded the newly arrived group of people and attempted to chase them away from the area.

"Ladies, I'm sorry. It's dangerous here. The Criminal Investigation Division is currently handling a case. Please turn back."
Just then, a young nurse leading the group blushed, her eyes were filled with enthusiasm. She looked straight at the man's face, beamed, and replied with a squeaky voice.
"We're here to assist the Criminal Investigation Division with their case!
"This is the explorer who held the livestream in this graveyard previously, Jack London. He has something important to tell the captain of the Criminal Investigation Division.
"Oh, right, we are from St. Mary's Hospital. We are here to escort Mr. Jack London!"
The nurse spoke boastfully, puffing her chest. It was obvious that she was very proud of being able to arrive with 'the' Jack London.
The member of the Criminal Investigation Division, who was responsible for questioning witnesses, was surprised when he heard what she had just said.
Then, he turned to look at Jack London, who was being supported by the nurses at both sides, and sized him up for a few seconds.
After a moment of silence, he responded, "Please wait a moment." Then, he turned and walked back toward the cemetery.
The woman in red, who was still stuck in Jack London's body, had been feeling an urge to faint from the moment she had gotten out of the car, but she composed herself as she looked in the direction of the cemetery.
She widened her eyes and mumbled in disbelief.
"Someone took my ring… and they formed a soul contract with it...
"Who was it?
"How did they know that my ring could restrain ghostly qi... ?"
The woman in red was perplexed; how could anyone else have known about this? This occurrence was unexpected, but her expression did not seem to show any hint of anger.
...
In the distance, the captain of the Criminal Investigation Division looked at the cemetery. His eyes were filled with urgency.
Every inch of the ground within 100 square kilometers of the cemetery was shifting like waves.
From time to time, deep clefts would form, measuring longer than ten meters. Not to mention, they were bottomless, an endless amount of corpse worms scuttling out from the gashes.

It looked abnormally terrifying.
These corpse bugs had been temporarily put under control as their movements were restricted within the graveyard's borders by the Criminal Investigation Division's flamethrower attacks.
However, the fuel prepared for the flamethrowers was almost depleted, and these bugs showed no signs of ceasing.
As the flames raged, the insects gradually became resistant to the fire.
What would they do if this were to continue on even longer?
"Old village chief, at this point, aren't you going to tell us what exactly is under this tomb?"
The captain whipped his head towards the old village chief, his fists clenched and his gaze piercing.
However, when the old village chief heard his question, he simply smiled bitterly.
"If I knew what was under this tomb, I would have saved my friends 60 years ago...
"The thing under this tomb is very strange. All I know is that in the past 60 years, there has been a woman clad in red keeping it under control.
"If it weren't for her, I would have been possessed as well by that being under the tomb...
"She is the only one who can put a stop to all of this!"
The old village chief said firmly.
The captain was disoriented after hearing the old man's words.
Red... woman?
This was familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time.
The captain racked his brain, flipping through his memories speedily until he finally stumbled upon two words that sparked a memory in his mind.
Jack London!
The guy who had first come to explore this cemetery.
If his memory served him right, Jack had ended his livestream because he had been bitten by a female ghost in red!
However, something wasn't right.
The old village chief's statements painted a heroic image of the woman, but something was definitely fishy!
If she really was good, why would she have attacked Jack London?
The captain was utterly confused, his head in turmoil.
The audience in the livestream had also heard the old village chief's words and they brainstormed ideas together. Their thoughts were exactly the same as the captain's, and they were all as baffled as he was.
"That's not right! Isn't that woman in red evil? Why did the old man speak of her as if she was good?"
"That's right, I thought that the woman was the one buried under this tomb! Now it seems that it's not like that at all..."
"F*ck! I'm sweating all over. The female ghost helped suppress the unknown entity in the tomb? That's unbelievable! Hey, old man, are you sure you know what you're talking about?"
The entire livestream was in chaos; just one statement made by the village chief had brought about arguments in the comments section of the livestream.
"Reporting!"
Suddenly, the voice of a member of the Criminal Investigation Division came from behind the captain.
The captain turned around and noticed his subordinate communicating with someone using the walkie-talkie in his hand.
"Reporting, captain! A member of the team outside the blockade has reported that a man claiming to be Jack London is currently outside the cemetery. The man insists that he knows the secret of this cemetery and requests to assist the rescue mission!"
The captain, who was still trying to figure out the identity of the woman in red, was shocked upon hearing this and replied, "What? Jack London is awake?"
Jack London...
Speak of the devil!
Now that he was awake, having Jack's cooperation would definitely be of great help to the Criminal Investigation Division in this haunted cemetery.
With this in mind, the captain did not hesitate before immediately turning around to bellow orders to his subordinate.
"Let him in!
"Tell everyone at the blockade to escort him here right now! Bring him immediately, even if you have to carry him!"
"Roger!" replied the subordinate as he walked to the side, picked up the walkie-talkie, and issued the captain's order.

A System Apocalypse Fan Fiction I started reading Litrpg about two years ago. I fell in love with Tao Wong's System Apocalypse series.
