I Did Many Dangerous Things After Knowing When I Would Die Chapter 25

In H City's St. Mary's Hospital, ICU room 1303, a man with an oxygen mask suddenly opened his eyes.
He quickly sat up from the bed, pulled off the oxygen mask, and panted heavily as he scanned the hospital ward.
He found his name written on his hospital gown –Jack London.
"Am I… in the hospital?" He mumbled as he looked around with a confused expression.
He looked down and observed his body, and realized that it was unfamiliar. If there had been a mirror nearby, he would've been able to tell that his eyes contained a woman's gaze in a man's body.
It was not Jack London who had woken up.
It was the woman in red, who had taken over his body!
She was clearly not used to this man's body. As she got off the bed, she stumbled and plummeted to the ground.
In an instant, the equipment around the hospital bed issued a buzzing alarm, and the entire corridor flashed with red emergency signs.
A panicked expression grew across her face. She attempted to stand up again, but found that this body's limbs were weak, and she could not exert any strength at all.
It was not that Jack London's physical body was injured too badly.
Rather, it was that the woman in red's soul was too weak.
Yesterday, in order to stop Jack London from approaching the coffin in the tomb, she had been forced to reveal herself in an attempt to scare him away.
However, she had not expected for this man to be so bold, refusing to leave and continuing to probe ahead.
There was no other way. She could only transform into her physical body to attack him.
However, unexpectedly at the critical moment, the black gas in the tomb had attacked her, causing her soul to be injured.
To ensure that her soul would not be contaminated, the woman in red was forced to temporarily attach herself to this man.

That was how she had fallen into a coma along with this person.
Now that she had woken up, having been away from the tomb for too long, her soul had not been nourished by the Yin qi and had become increasingly weak.
She needed to return to the cemetery as soon as possible, otherwise her soul was at risk of fading...
Not only that, now that she was gone for so long, others might have attempted to sneak into the tomb and without her protection, they might have gotten hurt, or worse, the evil spirit in the tomb might have been released.
The woman thought anxiously.
Right then, the door of the ward was flung open.
A few nurses in white uniforms rushed in. The first thing they saw was Jack London, who had fallen to the ground.
All of a sudden, all the nurses beamed excitedly and ran toward Jack.
"Mr. Jack, you're awake?! That's great!"
"Mr. Jack, don't move. Let me help you up!"
"Mr. Jack, it's great that you're okay!"
"Thank god!"
The nurses were overjoyed as they hurriedly helped Jack London up and carried him back to his bed.
Everyone in the room knew about Jack London's deeds, so they were extremely enthusiastic when they heard that he had awoken.
Of course, they were not in a hurry to bombard a sick patient with questions, but they couldn't contain themselves and explained the situation of John Jones' team and the Criminal Investigation Division's involvement to him.
"Mr. Jack London, did you know? After you were injured, the mayor made a big deal of your case and dispatched a professional investigation team to the cemetery in order to find out the truth about the ghost that attacked you.
"However, two members of the expedition team were also assaulted in the same way as you were and they succumbed to their deaths."

The nurse breathlessly and briefly described some of the experiences of John's expedition team on the night of the livestream.
As for the woman in red who was using Jack's body as a host, she was immediately appalled.
Black gas? Corpse worms?
Oh no!
It was the man in the coffin! It's a sign that he's attempting to get out...
"So, what's the situation now? Have the remaining expedition team members been saved?"
The woman in red could not help but ask through Jack London's voice.
When the group of nurses heard Jack London's urgent question, they were stunned at first, but they quickly answered.
"As of now, the members of the expedition team still have not been rescued.
"But the people from the Criminal Investigation Division are already searching for them. I believe that it won't be long before they are taken into safety."
"That's right! The people from the Criminal Investigation Division are broadcasting their operation right now. We can see their progress!"
When the nurse said this, she eagerly whipped out her phone from her chest pocket, and the woman in red was left speechless.
'Broadcast?
'What is a broadcast?'
"It's this livestream. Mr. Jack, look!"
The woman in Jack's body looked over and saw the image of the cemetery displayed on the small screen of the phone, and she covered her mouth in shock.
How could this thing fit the entire cemetery into it?
Soon after, the livestream played on the screen.
More than twenty officers and soldiers of the Criminal Investigation Division could be seen wearing gas masks and standing among the blazing fire. They were using small flamethrowers to shower the disgusting creepy-crawlies in flames.
The entrance of the tomb, which had been covered by the carcasses of the black corpse worms, caught the woman's attention.
She could see the tunnel through the pile of dead bugs; it was like a slithering python, undulating and meandering.
The entrance of the tunnel seemed to be narrowing, but she could still see clearly that black bugs were constantly pouring out of it.
She narrowed her eyes toward the entrance of the tunnel.
'These aren't the corpse worms from underneath the tomb… These are Fire Qilin bugs from the coffin!
'The coffin has been opened!
'Who did it? Is that wretched being still beneath the tomb?'
The red-dressed woman stared at the swarm of packed black bugs with a panicked gaze.
All kinds of indescribable emotions, including both joy and fear, mixed within her heart.
The nurses looked at Jack in confusion, not knowing what he was thinking of.
Meanwhile, at this moment, a few members of the Criminal Investigation Division realized that the corpse bugs were almost wiped out, so they boldly walked towards the tunnel.
However, just as they approached the tunnel...
Whoosh!
More corpse bugs that blotted out the sky and covered the earth spurted out like blood gushing from an open wound!
The corpse bugs this time were bigger in size, and the teeth in their mouths were sharper!
A few members of the Criminal Investigation Division were instantly feasted on. As they were turned into a bloody mess, they screamed in pain.
'The Fire Qilin bugs are being sent out... that guy in the coffin wants to come out!
'We have to stop the being from breaking out of the tomb!'
The woman in red thought in fear as her eyes were glued to this scene in horror.
She did not hesitate. She instantly grabbed the hands of the surrounding nurses and shouted, "Quickly take me to the cemetery, please!
"Hurry!"

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
