I Did Many Dangerous Things After Knowing When I Would Die Chapter 22

"Quick! Team 1, Team 2, find all the entrances to the cemetery and seal them off!
"Team 3, Team 4, follow me into the cemetery!
"Team 5, move all searchlights on the armored vehicles forward!
"Everyone, be sure to reach the cemetery within 10 minutes!
"Move out!"
The voice of the captain of the Criminal Investigation Division's Secret Service Team echoed through the loudspeaker.
As he gave the order, the soldiers replied loudly, "YES SIR!"
Armies of soldiers wearing the Secret Service Team combat uniforms stepped out one by one and spread themselves out along the area of the cemetery.
At the same time, high-intensity searchlights shot out from the convoy, illuminating the entire pitch-black ravine!
"Where did the rest of the expedition team led by John Jones go?
"Did the informant state their exact location?"
The captain of the Criminal Investigation Division asked and frowned as he stared at the ravine in front of him.
The valley was deep and endless.
If they searched aimlessly, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Even if they found their location in the end, bones might be all that's left of the members of the expedition.
"Reporting, sir. The informant didn't say anything about their location. They saw it through the live broadcast, so they couldn't state the exact place.
"If we were to estimate the exact location, it might be the specific area where Jack London died..."
The subordinate beside him hurriedly reported with a hesitant tone.
"I don't want it to be a possibility, I want to be sure! We must confirm the exact location of the disaster!"
The captain said resolutely.
The subordinate beside him stuttered for a moment, but he couldn't answer.
The captain looked back toward the pitch-black valley and kept silent.
After a few seconds of contemplating, he turned to his subordinate.
"Start the livestream!
"Let the netizens carry out this search and rescue mission with us!"
"Huh? This… But, captain, this would be a breach of the Criminal Investigation Division's rules of secrecy…"

The subordinate immediately panicked and turned pale with fright. As the strongest force of the City Bureau, the Criminal Investigation Division's operation process had always been kept private. How could they openly broadcast it to the public?
"Do rules matter when people's lives are on the line?
"This whole accident tonight was witnessed and reported by the netizens first. Therefore, they are deemed as official witnesses according to the procedure of the case.
"Also, the most critical thing is that they have seen the exact location of the incident.
"Without their help, we would go nowhere!"
The captain declared firmly.
After hearing his words, the subordinate fell silent.
He knew that the captain was right, but...
The captain then turned around and barked instructions at the army's radioman behind him.
"It's decided!
"Contact the mayor and request for permission to resume the livestream on behalf of the Secret Service Team."
"For this cemetery rescue, I want the entire city's audience to come with me to look for the victims!"
...
About five minutes later, the mayor was put on the line and they discussed the situation.
In the end, the mayor agreed to the captain's request and announced his grant of permission on his official website.
Just like that, the livestream was resumed.
At this point in time, it was already almost 3 a.m.
However, when the livestream commenced, tens of thousands of viewers quickly rushed in.
In less than a minute, the number of viewers had reached a staggering 100000!
The captain of the Criminal Investigation Team was not fazed by the overwhelming numbers and did not hesitate to face the livestream.
"A very early morning to everyone present in this livestream.
"First of all, as the captain of the Criminal Investigation Division of H City, I would like to thank all of you for choosing to contact the police the moment you found out that the two members of the expedition team were killed.
"I would like to thank all of you for your support and trust in the Criminal Investigation Department.

"However, we do not have enough information in order to rescue the remaining members.
"We need your help.
"Now, we have arrived at the scene of the haunted cemetery.
"However, this forest at the entrance is too spread out. We are unable to locate the exact location where the members of the expedition team vanished.
"We need your help.
"We will focus the camera of the livestream on the entrance of this forest.
"If you remember the route taken by John Jones and the others, please let us know in the comments section.
"For the sake of a successful rescue, we hope for everyone's cooperation!"
After the captain of the Criminal Investigation Team finished speaking, he bowed deeply to the camera, pleading with the audience.
Upon hearing this, the viewers immediately went into a frenzy.
"F*ck! I can actually participate in the rescue with the Criminal Investigation Division? This is way too cool!"
"Don't worry, captain! I remember every route clearly! I'll show you the way!"
"Captain! This cemetery is very risky. You have to prioritize your safety when you begin the rescue..."
"Let's stop talking and get on with it, captain! I can't wait any longer!"
"I wonder if Blake and the others will be able to hold on until the Criminal Investigation Division gets there... It's going to be a wild ride tonight!"
"The Criminal Investigation Division actually brought so many soldiers with them? Looks like the expedition team will definitely be saved tonight! The ghost in the cemetery will not be a match for them!"
...
The netizens in the livestream raved with excitement.
It was evident that everyone was delighted to be able to participate in this urgent rescue operation.
...
The excruciatingly bright searchlights shone in all directions, illuminating a forest path.
The captain had his subordinates haul the broadcast equipment as they trailed along behind him.
In front of him, the Criminal Investigation Division teams had already found their way into the forest.
They began to follow the instructions of the audience in the livestream behind them and slowly moved into the dense forest.
The procedures were carried out in an orderly manner, as per their usual policies.
After about ten minutes of moving forward, they came across the haunted cemetery.
They also found the other team members who had not fallen into the depths of the cemetery outside, knocked out.
The team members had fallen into a coma from inhaling the black mist, their minds infected.
Upon the arrival of the Criminal Investigation Division members, the unconscious expedition members were carried back out on stretchers.
They had finally been rescued.
The remaining ones would be the most difficult; how were they supposed to rescue John Jones and the other members who had fallen into the dark depths of the cemetery?
According to the viewers in the livestream, John Jones and the others had been dragged in by this tomb itself!
This was really hard to believe, as it was definitely not something logical in the scope of science.
The captain inspected the half-dug tomb, which revealed half of the entrance of the tunnel down, and racked his brain.
At this moment, he had two choices, one of which was to send his trained team down to the bottom of the tunnel to rescue the victims.
Either that, or he could dig up the entire cemetery to recover them.
He would have to send his team down in both options, but the difference between them was the tradeoff between time and safety.
Using the first strategy would help them achieve success in a shorter time, but it was way riskier. The second idea would take them longer to save the victims, but the risk factor was relatively low.
How should he proceed?
Just as the captain was hesitating, his subordinate's voice came from behind him.
"Captain! Captain! The village chief is here!"
"The village chief said that the cemetery in this place should not be touched… Otherwise, something will happen!"

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

Undiminished
A cross-genre story that will start as a zombie game-lit that can evolve into a lit-rpg. It'll revolve around the main character, with very little interaction with other people until the first arc is done. I'll write, more for the synopsis later as the story continues to develop.

Candle burning in the dark
This is the story of Alyssa and Mireille, two girls in a world of Magic. They are forced to leave their homes by differing circumstances and must come to terms with their own magical abilities and the problems those bring. Alyssa is hunted for what she is, while Mireille is not certain what and who she wants to be but drifting along is not an option when her life is on the line. They live in a world that is torn by strife where humanity is not the pinnacle of existence. This is a world of high fantasy. It is my first written story. I am a non-native speaker. I will not go out of my way to shock people but the content will at times be traumatizing for sensitive people. At the moment I would guess the story to be PEGI 16 perhaps? It's light on the profanity at least? Cover from unsplash.com
