I Did Many Dangerous Things After Knowing When I Would Die Chapter 19

Blake clutched the compass in his hand as he fell uncontrollably down the narrow passage.
The fall lasted for two or three minutes before it stopped finally with a bang.
Blake found that he had landed in a cold and dark chamber.
It was pitch black, and the air was chilly to the bones.
This tomb... felt as cold as an ice chamber!
Blake shivered from the cold.
Since he was going to spend the night in the tomb, he had specifically worn thick clothes in preparation for tonight.
Normally, Blake had high tolerance to the cold; he would not feel anything if he wore these massive clothes under a temperature of even -10 degrees Celsius. However, this tomb made him tremble.
'This isn't just any regular cold air... It has gathered around a corpse for a thousand years. There's also the ghostly qi that has been hovering around here for who knows how many years.
'The temperature in this place... is very likely below -20 degrees Celsius!'
Blake estimated in his head.
He didn't have a thermometer with him to measure his body temperature, but he could tell that the cold measured negative as the cell phone that he carried with him had automatically turned off because of the extremely low temperature.
Of course, even if it hadn't turned off, there wouldn't have been a signal in this place.
Based on the time that Blake had taken to glide down the sides of the pit, he estimated that he was at a depth of five to six kilometers.
Of course, this didn't mean that he was exactly five or six kilometers underground.
This cemetery couldn't be that deep.
He had slid along the sides, most of which were winding and sloping passages.
They had definitely not been made by ghouls, as their powers would give them no reason to dig this.
Without a doubt... This was man-made!
Someone had come across this large tomb and spent a long time digging such a passage.
Who would have done such a thing?
Two words appeared in Blake's mind – grave robbers!
This huge tomb had probably been raided by grave robbers before.
Thinking of this, Blake looked around the tomb and activated his Yin-Yang Eye.
Through the view of the Yin Eye, he could see that the entire tomb was filled with ghostly qi, monopolizing every corner of this humongous tomb.
In the Yang Eye's field of vision, the tomb transformed into criss-crossing lines that were long and seemed to go on forever into the darkness.

This meant that the tomb did not comprise only of this big area, but there were other rooms.
Blake picked up the compass as it emanated rays of red light that enveloped Blake, isolating him from the hungry, ghostly qi; this was the only way for Blake to be protected from it
The cross that had been snatched away by John Jones earlier had already been shattered to pieces by the excessive ghostly qi that resided within it.
However, the Ghost-Seeking Compass wasn't faring too much better.
Since Blake had been immersed in the ghostly qi in the tomb for too long, cracks had already started to form on his compass.
It was likely that soon enough, the compass would also shatter and lose its ability to protect him.
He had to hurry!
...
Following the compass needle and under the vision of the Yin-Yang Eye, Blake walked toward the direction pointed by the needle.
This tomb was very spacious.
The owner of the tomb must have been of high noble status.
Blake wondered who the owner of this tomb might have been. What kind of big shot living in H City a thousand years ago could have had the privilege to be buried in such an extensive tomb?
He walked carefully, thinking as he roamed the tomb.
Because of the Yin-Yang Eye, Blake could clearly see that there were many white bones covered in leather clothes scattered on the floor of the tomb.
He deduced that these should be the corpses of the tomb robbers; they probably hadn't managed to leave and were trapped in here.
'I don't know how long they have been here, but judging from their clothes, they seem to be from a hundred years ago...'
Blake speculated to himself.
As he scrutinized this display, he noticed that these corpses were bending their bodies, as if they were hugging and protecting their gleaming treasures found in the tomb.
Had those items been buried together with the owner of the cemetery?
Blake was aghast.
Under the view of the Yin-Yang Eye, the shiny items were extraordinary.
He stretched out his leg and nudged away the corpses that were hugging the treasures, and the items fell out of their embrace.
Thermos flasks...
Huh?
Blake was puzzled.
How could it be a thermos flask?
He stood rooted to the ground. After examining the situation for a few seconds, a thought surfaced in his mind. The treasures were probably hidden in the thermos flasks!

Without hesitating, he stomped on the flasks.
Crack!
They shattered upon impact.
A pile of treasures overflowed out of the flasks, twinkling in Blake's eyes.
Of course, in reality, these treasures didn't glow. The reason why Blake saw them glowing was because of his Yin-Yang Eyes, and it also helped him observe the appearance of these valuables clearly.
A crystal clear jade scepter, a golden stone, fragments of broken jade and gold, and a scroll of a painting...
No doubt any one of these items would be priceless!
'The identity of the owner of this tomb is definitely incredible. It's just that... I've never heard of any person with such high status in H City in the past…'
Blake was flooded with uncertainty, but his face seemed unusually enthusiastic.
He had never expected to accidentally stumble upon so many precious funerary objects just because he wanted to complete a system mission.
Now, he was going to be filthy rich.
Blake was delighted and reached out his hand to take a closer look at the funerary objects, but a buzzing sound stopped him in his tracks.
It was a danger warning from the compass!
These funerary objects... should not be touched?
Blake was shocked and retracted his hand that had hung in mid-air.
Although he was under the protection of the red light, the compass still broke out in a warning. This meant that even the compass would not be able to go against the impending danger of these objects.
Blake was still in dismay.
Fortunately, he had not rashly picked up a piece to inspect yet.
Click!
A switch sounded this time.
"Who is it?"
Blake snapped his head towards the source of the sound to find a beam of light shooting toward him.
It was the exploration team's night vision lamp.
Through the light, Blake saw that John Jones, who had fallen on the ground, was wearing night-vision goggles. His eyes were staring straight at him...
No, to be precise, he had his eyes on the gravestone beside Blake!
"Hahaha! I told you. There's definitely treasure in this place! Blake, you can't lie to me! You can't tell me otherwise!"
John Jones exclaimed with eyes brimming with greed.
He looked at the prized treasures scattered around Blake's feet and dragged his heavily injured body over with all his might, desperation keeping him going.
John Jones was covered in wounds, and his right leg was broken.
He wasn't like Blake, who had a compass that could shield himself from the ghostly qi, and Yin-Yang Eyes to see the unknown.
He was just an ordinary human being, and as he slid all the way down, he suffered several cuts on his body.
Taking out his searchlight, he had heard Blake's voice, and as such, he turned his head to look in its direction.
That was when he saw the burial objects strewn all over the ground.
"Blake... Blake! I knew you weren't just an ordinary person! How did you know this place had such a big tomb? This was the real reason you joined the expedition team, right?
"Hahaha! You can't lie to me! You can't!"
John Jones reached his hands front on the ground and crawled forward inch by inch. He lifted up his head in pain and revealed a ferocious smile as he shouted excitedly.
Blake stared at him with his Yin-Yang Eyes and found that John had been completely corrupted by the ghostly qi.
There was black fog swirling in his eyes.
The clothes he was wearing were very thin and torn, but he didn't seem to be fazed by the cold at all.
The ghostly qi had messed with his consciousness, and he seemed to have lost touch with his senses.
This was very dangerous. If he didn't find a way to get rid of the ghostly qi in his body quickly, his blood would probably freeze and he would succumb to hypothermia...
Blake wanted to urge John, but he was already completely under the influence of the ghostly qi. It wouldn't have mattered anyway.
John quickly crawled to the pile of treasures, laughed loudly, and threw himself onto them!
"Be careful! Don't touch them!"
Blake warned loudly.
However, it was too late.
John had clung onto the pile of valuables with every inch of his body.
In the next moment, an army of corpse worms crawled out from the pile and completely covered John whole within seconds!
Watching this scene, Blake's hair stood on end as he subconsciously retreated three steps back...
