Chapter 24: Siege
Translator: editor3
There was a huge difference between King Faroe’s death and his survival.
Now that the King had completely washed away the unstable factors within the city, he had raised the morale once again.
With the defense of the capital, it would be more than a hundred times more difficult for the alliance army to break through to the palace.
Furthermore, the city did not just have a tall city wall. It was said that after the Kingdom of Faroe was founded three thousand years ago, they spent a huge amount of money to build it with many magic arrays.
This led to a strange effect. In the case of a war, as long as the morale of the defending troops remained high, their combat strength and physical strength would be restored. Their willpower, resilience, and even their combat strength would also be enhanced.
It was said that the more intense the battle, the higher the morale, and the more obvious the effects would be.
It was precisely because of this that the fog temple had wanted to poison the king in advance. Even when the alliance army surrounded the king’s city, they still had to engage in psychological warfare. They had wanted to suppress the morale of the defending army, thus eliminating the effect on them.
Unfortunately, things always seemed to go against their wishes.
Not only had the plan failed, but it had also caused the morale of the defending army to soar to extreme heights.
Suddenly, a man in white with an indifferent expression said indifferently, “Looks like we will have to use the second plan.”
Once this person had spoken, even the five great lords did not dare to underestimate him.
This was because this person was the holy son of the sun god sect, a top-notch ninth-level elemental mage. It was rumored that he had the aptitude of a saint.

The representatives of the other four transcending powers nodded in agreement when they saw the sun holy son speak.
“Everyone, gather the mage army and prepare to attack the city.”
The sun holy son seemed to have become the leader of the five transcending powers.
The other four representatives and the five lords didn’t have any objections either.
For the five lords, it was best for the mage army formed by the five transcending powers to be the vanguard.
…
Lei Luo was standing at the top of a tall building in the palace. He could see the situation outside the city from afar.
It was so far away that ordinary people could not see it. Even high-ranked great grandmasters could not see it clearly.
However, Lei Luo could see it clearly.
This imperial city is indeed extraordinary.
Lei Luo’s elemental eye could see the faint and strange fluctuations in the air.
These were the undulations of a spell formation.
Although it was very weak, even a high-level elemental mage would not be able to sense it.
But it could not hide from Lei Luo’s elemental eye.
Before this, he had never noticed that there was such a huge magic array hidden under the imperial city.
As the war was about to begin, with the morale of millions of residents and the defending soldiers high, the spell formation of the Imperial City was activated.
To build an array formation of such a size, one must be extremely proficient in array formations. Even in terms of magic power, they can’t be too bad. An ultimate mage can barely do it.
Lei Luo sighed in his heart.
Without an ultimate mage, even the elemental fluctuations of the array formation could not be sensed.
If it’s as the king has guessed, how can an ultimate mage not exist? It’s just that they’re hidden too deeply, so I still have to keep a low profile.

Suddenly, a light flashed through Lei Luo’s eyes. He looked towards a direction in the city. A large amount of magic aura had gathered together.
A mage army?
Lei Luo nodded.
In this war, because of the existence of mages, of course the mage army would exist.
Whether it was the Faroe Kingdom, the various lords, or even the five transcending powers, they all needed a mage army.
However, there were strong and weak mage armies.
Those that could be called a mage army should have some high-level mages. Together with some elemental mages, once they were formed, they would definitely be a nightmare for an ordinary combat aura army.
If it was an extremely powerful mage army, then the elemental mages would be the main force. They would even be equipped with many high-level elemental mages. That kind of mage army would be the true killing machine, crushing everything in the way.
In the whole of middle-earth, only the Faroe Kingdom had the ability to build such a super elemental mage army.
However, in recent years, due to the great wizard Snake God, the five transcending powers had regained their strength. In addition to their terrifying foundation, they had also built an even more powerful elemental mage army. One of them would not be able to contend with the Faroe Kingdom, however, when the five transcending powers joined forces, they would definitely surpass the elemental mage army of the Faroe Kingdom.
As expected of the Faroe Kingdom. Although it has declined, its influence can not be underestimated.
Lei Luo revealed a smile.
From what he could sense, this elemental mage army had more than a thousand people. It was made up of elemental mages, and there was a very high proportion of high-level elemental mages among them.
Lei Luo discovered an interesting phenomenon. There were many people from the Hiro Magic Academy in this army of elemental mages.
As expected of the great wizard Snake God. Even though he has died, he has still left behind a powerful force of mages for the Faroe Kingdom.
Over the past few decades, Lei Luo’s understanding of the great wizard Snake God had also increased.
Moseley had shaken the world and suppressed many forces in the middle-earth. Not only had he relied on the powerful forces in the middle-earth, but he also had a terrifying army of mages under his command.
This army of mages was almost entirely made up of people from the major magic academies in the imperial city. Of course, the Hiro Magic Academy had the most people.
Even now in the imperial palace, there were many great mages who had been trained by the great wizard Snake God.
“The great wizard Snake God is indeed a legendary figure. He went from a small battle-qi warrior to an existence that can control the overall situation of the world.”
Lei Luo sighed in his heart again.
Although he could do it, he relied on the signing-in system.
Although the mage army of the Faroe Kingdom is strong, the mage army of the five rebel armies is even stronger.
Lei Luo looked outside the city and vaguely sensed that more powerful elemental mages were gathering.
Needless to say, that was the mage army of the rebels.
Or rather, it was the mage army of the five transcending powers gathered together.

Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).

The Discarded
The Umbrae Lunae existed before man, beautiful abominations birthed in the nightmares of mad gods. They wait for humanity to misstep, for the angels to look away. For the moment when they can cloak the world in moon shadows once again. But even horrors have children. Even nightmares must feed. One child, unlike the others, finds his way to a school for young abominations. Will he be a sheep cast before the wolves, or a terror that wears the skin of wool to entice the wolf close? The flesh of his body was his only coin, strips cut to pay debts that never ended. Everyone has scars, stories in a life led, lessons learned, and licks taken. Luminous bodies touched by darkness. There are a cursed few that are the opposite, black shadows consumed by scars, twisted minds devoured by diseased hungers, bodies tortured misshapen works of gouged flesh, silver lines of blade thin cuts, ragged tears of teeth and glass. For them, the scars are marks of homecoming, the mangled wasteland the only place they feel at peace. Hell is a place. It's made of concrete, steel and glass. It's the sounds of starving kids crying themselves to sleep, huddling into small balls as creepers come and take their due of innocence and tender meat. It's eating rotten food and carrying ticks in your hair. It’s having no one and nothing while surrounded by everything. It's the life of a street kid. What abomination was birthed in the corrupt womb of man’s cast-off shit? Pretty people don't know the power of ugly. They can't see the strength in a broken soul or the power in a calloused heart. Those secrets are for the discarded alone. Only the broken understand the grace of darkness. The blessed folds that hide scars and tears, the protection of its concealing umbra.
