Chapter 3062: A Master of Formations
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Zheng Hong Yi did not consider the possibility of the assassin from the Blood Skull Gang betraying him. He failed to consider that the assassin’s priority was only to kill Duan Ling Tian and complete his mission from the Blood Skull Gang. It was not important to him if Liu Guang Lin exposed Zheng Hong Yi or not.
Now that roughly half a year had passed since Duan Ling Tian’s first assasination attempt, Duan Ling Tian did not expect to receive another letter from the Blood Skull Gang. Moreover, the content was roughly the same as the first letter. Instead of Huan’er, the subject had turned to Liu Guang Lin. This time, he was able to verify that Liu Guang Lin had, indeed, been kidnapped.
After Duan Ling Tian informed Sun Liang Peng, the Sect Leader of the Simplicity Celestial Sect, of Liu Guang Lin’s disappearance and the letter from the Blood Skull Gang, Sun Liang Peng said, “We can confirm the person who abducted your follower isn’t the assassin from the Blood Skull Gang. It’s impossible for outsiders to enter the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s estate unannounced. If a stranger enters the sect’s estate unannounced, it’d trigger the Formations in our sect.”
“You mean to say the person who abducted Liu Guang Lin is an insider? A member of the Simplicity Celestial Sect?” Duan Ling Tian asked.
“Yes.” Sun Liang Peng replied.
“According to the letter, they want me to go alone… If you or any powerhouses from the sect follow me, I’m afraid the insider will inform the assassin about it,” Duan Ling Tian said.
“Duan Ling Tian, I’ve come up with a plan earlier… When the first assassination attempt happened half a year ago, I’d pretended to order to second brother to leave the sect on a business trip,” Sun Liang Peng replied confidently, “He’s waiting for my instruction outside. I’ll send him to protect you when you meet the assassin from the Blood Skull Gang.”
Duan Ling Tian bluntly asked, “Sect Leader, are you sure he’s able to protect me?”
There was no doubt Duan Ling Tian would leave the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s estate to rescue Liu Guang Lin. However, he needed to be fully prepared before he left the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s estate since he was unsure of the assassin’s strength.
Duan Ling Tian had speculated the Blood Skull Gang would not send an overly strong assassin to kill him. They had probably sent someone strong enough to get the job done. However, he also knew the Blood Skull Gang no longer treated him as a peak Overarching Heavenly Supreme Celestial but a Ten Directions Celestial King that had comprehended two profundities from the law of earth. However, his strength that was granted by the consumable Royal Grade Celestial Weapon would dwindle every time he sued it.

Sun Liang Peng reassured Duan Ling Tian. “Don’t worry. Although my second brother is only a Five Elements Celestial King, his comprehension of the law of wind is powerful… It’s not an exaggeration to say that all Five Elements Celestial Kings in the Profound Nether Mansion’s territories aren’t a match for him. His strength should be easily stronger than a Five Elements Celestial King assassin from the Blood Skull Gang. In fact, his strength should be comparable to a Six Combos Celestial King assassin from the Blood Skull Gang!”
Sun Liang Peng continued to say confidently, “Although your cultivation base is comparable to a Ten Directions Celestial King, your comprehension of the law is weak… Therefore, it’s unlikely for the Blood Skull Gang to send an overly powerful assassin to kill you. Based on my knowledge, at most, they would send a Four Phenomenons Celestial King or Five Elements Celestial King to get the job done! Since my second brother is capable of dealing with a Six Combos Celestial King from the Blood Skull Gang, it won’t be difficult for him to kill an assassin who’s a Four Phenomenons Celestial King or a Five Elements Celestial King. Even if the assassin tries to escape, it’d be futile due to my second brother’s comprehension of the law of wind. If he truly can’t kill the assassin, he’d still be able to send me a message. At that time, I’ll join forces with him to kill the assassin.”
Duan Ling Tian nodded. He felt more at ease after hearing Sun Liang Peng’s words. Then, he asked urgently, eager to rescue Liu Guang Lin, “Sect Leader, when can I leave?”
“You can leave now… My second brother is in the vicinity of the sect’s estate. He’s skilled in stealth and camouflage; they’re part of his characteristics as a Celestial Beast. Let alone assassins who are Five Elements Celestial Kings, even Six Combos and Seven Stars Celestial Kings won’t be able to detect his presence,” Sun Liang Peng said.
“Where did the assassin want to meet? The east?” Sun Liang Peng asked.
“The west side,” Duan Ling Tian replied.
“Alright, you can leave now. Keep in touch with me if you can. I’ll have my second brother follow you closely to protect you.”
Whoosh!
After that, Duan Ling Tian no longer wasted any time and made his way west of the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s estate. The meeting place was rather far from the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s estate.

Duan Ling Tian did not use his Celestial Origin Energy to travel. Instead, he used a Celestial Boat. A Celestial Boat was, at least, a Duke Grade Celestial Weapon. The process to forge a Celestial Boat was incredibly intricate. He had only heard of Celestial Boats before he entered the Simplicity Celestial Sect. There were three grades of Celestial Boats. Needless to say, the higher the grade, the faster the Celestial Boat’s speed would be. The fastest Celestial Boat had speed comparable to a Nine Palaces Celestial Duke. The slowest had speed comparable to a Three Talents Celestial Duke. These were the differences between a prominent and primitive Duke Grade Celestial Boats. A mediocre Duke Grade Celestial Boat had speed comparable to a Six Combos Celestial Duke.
The Celestial Boat Duan Ling Tian was traveling in was a primitive Celestial Boat he had bought from an elder in the Simplicity Celestial Sect with Celestial Crystals. That elder was a Duke Grade Celestial Weapon Craftsman who was able to forge Duke Grade Celestial Boats. The elder was the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s only Duke Grade Celestial Weapon Craftsman capable of forging Duke Grade Celestial Boats. However, he had only mastered the technique of forging primitive Duke Grade Celestial Boats. So far, he had only managed to forge two mediocre Duke Grade Celestial Boats and had not been able to refine prominent Duke Grade Celestial Boats yet.
“I finally arrived…” After traveling for a day and a night, Duan Ling Tian finally arrived at the designated meeting place. The meeting place was a barren plain that only had a big and lonely tree. The tree had many branches, of which many were broken, but was leafless. I was clearly withered.
“The Soul Pearl!” It did not take long for Duan Ling Tian to find a Soul Pearl hanging on one of the tree’s branches since it had been mentioned in the letter. After collecting the Soul Pearl, he was supposed to contact the author of the letter through the soul mark on the Soul Pearl.
As soon as Duan Ling Tian’s Divine Consciousness made contact with the soul mark on the Soul Pearl…
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
The tree branches began to shake violently. At the same time, spots of light like the stars began to appear around the branches.
Duan Ling Tian could sense a mysterious energy from the spots of lights that caused them to glow even brighter. The white light expanded and shrouded the tree and Duan Ling Tian soon after, and he felt his vision go dark. His heart skipped a beat as he exclaimed, “This! It’s a Transporting Formation?! ”
“Watch out!” A voice rang out belatedly as a green bird the size of a small hill that looked like a goshawk suddenly appeared in the air. Soon after, the goshawk transformed into a young man dressed in green robes.
The green-clad young man’s expression was dark and unsightly as he looked at the tree that had reverted to its original and unassuming appearance. “The assassin from the Blood Skull Gang is also a master of Formations? This Transporting Formation is laid out so well that even I failed to detect its presence… I wonder where Duan Ling Tian has been transported to…”
The green-clad young man was none other than Sun Liang Peng’s second brother. He was a Celestial Beast with a human form who was a Five Elements Celestial King. In fact, based on Sun Liang Peng’s words, no Five Elements Celestial Kings in the Profound Nether Mansion’s territories were a match for him. He was clearly remarkable, and yet, Duan Ling Tian had disappeared under his watch!
“It’s a one-time Formation.” The green-clad young man confirmed after investigating the tree and the Formation. Then, he no longer wasted time and sent a message to Sun Liang Peng with a grim expression on his face, “Eldest brother…”
…
In the Simplicity Celestial Sect’s estate.
Sun Liang Peng’s expression changed drastically after he received the green-clad young man’s message.
“The assassin from the Blood Skull Gang is also a master of Formations?”
Not anyone could simply set up a Transporting Formation even if they had the necessary materials. One had to be skilled and powerful to set up such a Formation. There were only a handful of people in the Profound Nether Mansion’s territories who were capable of such a feat.

Warning: The protagonist begins the story quite cowed and meek but progresses into a more assertive and situationally dominant personality. This is partly due to growth, but also a result of the character overcoming initial shock and longstanding depression. If you think I could have handled a segment better, by all means, point it out and provide your reasoning and suggestion. Everyone's experience of depression is different, and Tim's is a close representation of my own, so it won't necessarily 'vibe' with everyone.
