The End Of Life Chapter 48

Opening the door, he noticed the bodies on the floor first. All of them were either zombies or partial zombies. There was a dense stench of blood in the room. He looked ahead and saw the 2 people who pleaded him to save them.
First was the man, having brown curly hair and spectacles, giving a bit of an educated look. His thin frame and dried out face was too troublesome to see. He turned over and saw a pretty girl in her teens, hiding behind him. Like him, she had brown hair. She had big round black eyes giving a feel of the abyss to him.
Shaking his head, he asked, "So you guys, ok?" looking around the room. Along with the bodies he found a couple of waste, probably from some food they ate, and the books on the bookshelf completely toppled down. The former room, which was probably an office, was now nothing but a catastrophe.
"We are ok, thank you for coming and saving us." said the man with his completely dried up voice while coughing a few times in the middle. Mark nodded and waved his hand, showing them to come out.
The man nodded and slowly stood up from the corner with the girl right behind him, still clutching his shirt and being completely wary of him. Both of them slowly crossed the room, going over the shelf and books all over. As he reached near the door, Mark lent his hand and helped him over.
"Well, as I told you, I didn't save you for free. So is what you said true? About being a doctor." asking him one more time.
"Yes, I am a doctor. I specialize in Orthopaedic. But I also have some knowledge in other departments of medicine. Here is my ID from the hospital I work in." Taking out his wallet, he took out a card and handed it over to Mark. Taking it from him, Mark checked the ID, and it was from a famous hospital known all over the country located in the town.

Nodding, he gave it back and said, "Well, as I said, I didn't do it for free. So for the cost of your life, you will now follow me." shrugging.
The man let a tight smile, and they walked towards the stairs. They then heard a rumbling noise and both of them looked towards the source and saw the girl hiding behind the man clutching her stomach. She looked at the man and he nodded.
"Do you have some food? We both haven't drunk or eaten in the past 3 days." with the same dried up voice. Mark nodded and said, "Let's go downstairs. There are still many things in the shop you guys can eat." making the man nod.
As they walked through the hallway, the man and the girl looked at the corpses of zombies which were in it. They couldn't believe the number of zombies he killed and were amazed by it. The man nodded to himself, thinking he made the right choice. Getting downstairs, they went through the medical section and into the store.
"Ok! Now go and eat some food. There is still a lot more. The water bottles should be somewhere around there." pointing at the places where he found them, he instructed both of them.
"Eat more, it will be awhile till we will eat again." reminding them as they made their way towards the places. The man nodded as he led the way, holding the girl's hand. Mark simply went near the entrance and stood by the corner.
He looked at both of them as they ripped open a bag of chips and can food and can of food. He was a bit amused at how an educated person could come to such a stage when they are in crisis. He continued to look at them as they ravaged the food on the shelves and drank bottles of water.

He checked the time and noticed 15 minutes passed by and said, "Ok! If both of you are done, we have places to be before the moon comes out." tapping the watch. The man nodded and after a few minutes, both of them came towards him with bags, probably with some clothing for them.
Mark nodded, and all three of them made their way outside. He remembered there was ammunition in the back seat and opened the door. Turning towards the man he asked, "Help me move these boxes."
Both of them moved them to the trunk, which had almost no space anymore, and got inside. The girl got in the back while the man sat beside him. Mark started the car and slowly drove out of the parking lot. He took out the map and handed it to him and said, "Ok, tell me the route to the place circled with number 2 on the top."
The man nodded, and picked one route he was more familiar with and told the directions. As Mark drove he asked, "This would be the right time to tell about yourself."

Shadow
Shadow is set in two separate time periods: the year 2027, mere days before the end of the world, and the year 2030. At the core of every action/adventure story is a silly plot twist that only works if the characters it centers around are compelling and well-developed, and there are no shortage of interesting characters to be found during the earth's final days. Only a fool chases his own Shadow. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Daughters of the Void
Emily is a high school student. Too tall and developed for her age. Her will has been broken, so now, she is fearful and insecure. But that, doesn't explain why those around her bully and despise her. Perhaps... it is related to the dark and deep secret that she has inexplicably forgotten? What made her forget it? The strange being, with whom Emily once made a pact, intends to find out what has happened. To do so, will take her to a world terribly different from this one. Why does it take her to another world? Why did Emily forget what makes her different? Why the hell, all of a sudden, can Emily see three floating panels in the middle of the darkness? What is this? A video game with a lush green-eyed redhead as the main character? Daughters of the Void is a story told from multiple points of view, which occur in parallel. As if they were several series in one, where each protagonist advances at their own pace. At first, the story of each character will advance slowly, so I ask you to be patient. Soon, you will discover a story of extreme survival in a medieval fantasy world. A story, a bit dark, that can also be a bit comical at certain moments. But above all, it can be harsh and cruel to its protagonists. I’ve introduced LitRPG elements in a very soft and almost non-existent way at the beginning of the story. As the story progresses, they will become more and more abundant, depending on the protagonist. Emily is the main and first protagonist of "Daughters of the Void". After her; Dianna, Tanya and others. Above all, I’m looking for your immersion, so I will make you aware of most of the thoughts of the protagonists. I also want the reader to feel some uncertainty, putting yourselves in the shoes of some girls who can't find what they lack. I look for realism, but also to surprise myself. Around chapter 25 there is an awakening of the protagonists. Moment in which they will begin to behave as they really want to be. Unrivaled adventurers. Heroines of legend. The secondary protagonists were created to cover some deficiencies that I noticed that the series had when it was only Emily, so their chapters will be more sporadic. Tags and warnings give me creative freedom. This is the first story I've written, although they are not my first drawings. Be kind with your reviews. I know everything can be improved. Also, English is not my native language, neither is my brother's. He’s the one who translates the story. Constructive feedback is always welcome. We learn day by day. Everything helps us to improve the quality of this humble project. Let us know what you think.

Evolution of the Lazy Gamer by Bruticus
It had been five years since the game Royalroad first appeared. A new expansion had been released and one person was assigned by his company to review it. That was the beginning of the story of a lazy, unheroic character who would meet others just as lacking in the heroism department as he was. Still life (or virtual life) throws you curve balls and you never know what will happen.
