Chapter 285: The Furious Sapling
“Illidan…” Kael’thas’s lips trembled as he read out the name.
Everyone now knew that the traitor Illidan had been released and that he had killed Tichondrius, the Dread Lord of Burning Legion in Felwood Forest.
And his most iconic army was the Naga.
Those compatriots in the deep sea, the Highborne Elves from 10,000 years ago!
So, Lor’themar and Illidan had collaborated?
When did they get close? And when did they get together?
The prince could not figure it out.
But he knew that he and his people had become pawns.
Garithos looked at Lor’themar, then at Kael’thas, and then at the Naga army that was walking out of the sea.
He laughed.
“A traitor?”
“The Alliance already knows…”
“Someone will deal with him!”
One after another, the figures of Night Elves appeared on Garithos’s ship.
Maiev Shadowsong’s figure appeared from the shadows.
The high priestess who was chasing the traitor had already sworn with her life that she would bring the prisoner back to his cage!
When Kael’thas saw this, his hands and feet turned cold.
He finally understood.
Everything was fake.
The Alliance, honor, and faith.
Everything was fake! Everything was fake!
They would immediately tear off all their disguise once there was profit to be made.
Even the Night Elves were the same!
It was also at this moment that the Sunwell suddenly trembled.
The golden well water was boiling like lava.
The tiny sapling and the tender leaves of the sapling of the world tree slowly spread out.
Its shadow was reflected in the well water.
It was also reflected on the entire Isle of Quel’Danas.
Golden roots appeared on the island.
Strong arcane energy was rolling and boiling.
“You all…” a crisp voice sounded from the roots and the sky.
Countless shadows were quietly stretching on the leaves.
“What did you think of me…”
“The only mother tree that the great master planted?”
The young voice sounded in everyone’s heart.
“Blasphemy!”
“Unforgivable blasphemy!”

“Great Master…”
The anger of the sapling caused the roots to drill out from the ground.
The green leaves above the entire Isle of Quel’Danas slowly folded into a magnificent and magical scene.
It was a pattern formed by many strange rings and magnificent paths.
Bright psionic power lingered in these patterns.
Countless lights emitted destructive colors.
“You are blaspheming the Great Master!”
That was what the sapling was angry of most!
It was nothing to insult him.
After all, he was just a sapling that was still developing.
However, these foolish mortals treated him, the divine mother tree that the great master had personally planted and watered, as nothing. They even discussed the words “destroy, seize, and offer” in front of him.
That was unforgivable blasphemy!
It was the most direct and shameful blasphemy against the Great One!
That was because they did not put his master in their eyes at all!
That was a great sin!
Unforgivable, unsalvageable, great sin!
The sapling knew that someone else would make a move if these blasphemers could not be punished immediately.
The Great One had a few seeds in this low-level world that could allow some great beings to descend at any time.
Once these seeds were activated, the servants of the great master would descend.
Then, they would tear the entire world apart in their anger!
Even it would probably have to die.
Therefore, the small sapling was both angry and shocked.
Hence, it immediately began to display its ability.
It was also the only active ability that its master had awakened under its watering.
“Die!”
“Die!”
“Foolish mortals!”
Circles fell from the sky and surrounded the entire island in the anger of the sapling.
Arcane spells were boiling, and magic was released in the anger.
Roots emerged from the depths of the earth, dancing in anger.
At this time, everyone was shocked to find that their bodies seemed to be fixed by some strength.
They lowered their heads, and countless roots wrapped around their bodies.

Not only that, but these terrifying roots were also tightly wrapped around their souls!
Rings of bright light bloomed around their bodies.
Powerful energy flowed through those paths.
They saw angels spread their wings in the sky when they raised their heads.
Holy light blossomed from the Angels’ bodies.
The appearance of these angels had changed when they looked again.
Their bodies were like roots, and their holy wings were like thin, long whiskers.
They would find that the appearance of these angels seemed to be themselves if they looked carefully.
“I’ve become an Angel?”
The humans, Naga and Highborne Elves felt fear and horror that came from the depths of their souls.
It was as if turning into an angel was some terrible disaster or curse.
They knew the reason in the next second!
The bright light covered everything.
The Angels were crumbling bit by bit, turning into brilliance.
At that moment, the light that bloomed on the Isle of Quel’Danas could be seen even on Planet Argus.
The leaders of the Burning Legion all looked sideways.
They all felt some strength that could destroy them!
“This is…”Kil’jaeden gulped. “The self-detonation of a void Lord?”
But he soon realized that it was not.
It was a forbidden spell cast by a powerful existence!
… ..
Stormwind City.
Lady Katrana stood at the window of the castle.
She looked in the direction of Lordaeron.
There, resplendent pillars of light shot straight into the sky. They could be seen even during the day.
She lowered her head and revealed a smile.
“Not bad…”
“The probe is out…”
“I have to go tell my brother…”
The entire Stormwind City was in chaos.
That was because these pillars of light were so dazzling that everyone started to worry.
After all, the destruction of the Lordaeron Kingdom and the Quel’Thanas kingdom did not last long.
The people were worried that this was the result of the catastrophe or even the Burning Legion’s attack.
In the palace, the prince regent, Duke Bolvar, was also looking at the pillar of light that rose from Lordaeron.
“Why don’t I know about Marshal Garithos leading his army to Quel’Thanas?” He asked the ministers.
But no one answered him.
“Send someone to investigate immediately!” The Prince Regent ordered.
… … … … ..
In Stratholme.
Sylvanas suddenly turned her head and looked in the direction of Quel’Danas.
Her eyes saw endless beams of light.
“What happened?” She immediately jumped out of the hidden room and landed on a tall building.
The light pillar of Quel’Danas continued to bloom.
Her heart was thumping.
She no longer cared about playing hide-and-seek with the catastrophes in the nest of Arthas.
She quickly began to turn back.
The strength of the sun bloomed from her body.
She began to run wildly toward home.
She knew that she had to go back immediately!
… … ..
Ling Pingan yawned listlessly, sitting at the counter.
He had just refreshed his background data.
Seventeen…
It had increased by five from a day ago.
It looked pretty good!
But…
He just didn’t have any mood today and didn’t want to write.
It was still drizzling outside.
He suddenly started to worry about his little sapling.
“Would it be freezing?”
It was indeed a little cold today, and the temperature drop was obvious.
Thus, he stood up and walked upstairs.
He walked to the third floor and saw the little sapling in the plastic basin.
The leaves were drooping and looked malnourished.
Ling Pingan scratched his head. “As expected, the weather is cold, and even the sapling will be affected!”
Therefore, he quickly squatted down and looked at the sapling. “Little guy, you must be strong…”
If it were to freeze to death…
There would be no peaches for him to eat next year.
Therefore, he thought about it and decided to fertilize it a little.
Therefore, he untied his belt…
Splash…
The leaves of the sapling became vigor the moment he peed.
“As expected…” Ling Pingan nodded. “It lacks nutrition!”
Like humans, saplings needed to eat.
He could only fertilize it since the sapling was planted in a plastic pot!

Binary Soul

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx.
