Chapter 229: Crazy Man
Meanwhile, Charles heard a knocking sound from his room door, used the [Sleight of Mystery Hands] skill, and opened it from inside.
Simultaneously, he turned his gaze towards the wooden table, manipulated the invisible strings, and switched on the lamplight.
On the other hand, a black-haired woman entered his room and soon turned her gaze towards the opposite side.
"What are you planning, Charles? I thought you would save that Inn owner and kill that Richie guy." While asking, she stepped on the smooth floor, walked past the table, bed, and chairs, and arrived beside him.
A chuckle escaped out of Charles's mouth as he heard her words and soon shook his head.
"Nah, killing Richie will not only anger the officials, but it will also obstruct us from getting any jobs. The reason I slapped Beckett earlier was to let him know that we are not easy to tame. In his eyes, we are nothing but two ignorant people that came out of nowhere and disturbing his job." He paused for a moment and soon smiled as he saw Beckett was pointing his hand towards their direction.
"Although Richie didn't care about us, Beckett would never let us off. In truth, this might be the first time he got slapped and humiliated in front of everyone. Hehe, watch the show." Saying so, Charles raised his hand and waved his hand at him with a smirk on his face.
At that moment, Beckett saw Charles's face and got furious inside.
"Who are they?" Richie also noticed Charles's action and asked in confusion.
From his knowledge, not a single Rank-4 roaming Mystic would dare to show this kind of attitude in front of him!
The main reason for that was because he would always send the unruly Mystics to impossible missions and disposes of them off quietly.
Not only him, but even the other agents who were responsible for giving illegal jobs to outsiders were the same.
They always maintain the employer and employee status in check.
Upon hearing Richie's words, a surge of happiness appeared on Beckett's face.

At that moment, multiple fake reasons appeared in his mind.
After a short pause, he heaved a deep sigh and spoke.
"Lord Richie, that guy is the one who helped Rocco."
He lied without any hesitation.
"Oh? Why didn't you say earlier?"
Richie raised his eyebrows as he looked up and gestured them to come down.
Simultaneously, he released his wisdom power and completely enveloped the building.
Unlike most of the Mystics, he was a Dual-Class Mystic and had already reached the peak stage.
He was a Rank-4 [Master Sailor] and a Rank-4 [Noble Lord] Mystic!
In this whole city, he was considered as an Elite Guard and could even stand beside a Rank-5 Mystic.
Although he wasn't strong enough to fight against a Rank-5 powerhouse, he could still use his skills and escape.
As for ordinary Rank-4 Mystics, he was strong enough to toy with two ordinary Rank-4 Mystics simultaneously.
While analyzing them, Charles and Destiny Lady silently walked out of the room, moved on the corridor, and soon went downstairs through the spiral staircase.
They soon exited the Inn, stepped on the muddy road, and arrived in front of Richie and Beckett.
But not a single hint of fear appeared on both of their faces!
Their action shocked Richie and other spying Mystics!
Without minding his shocked face, Charles sized him up and down and asked.
"What do you want?"
His tone was neither arrogant nor fearful.
It was calm and carefree.
A deep frown appeared on Richie's face.
He soon woke up from the shock and spoke in a cold tone.
"You are not in your hometown, lad. If you want to live another day, you've to obey certain rules and regulations. Otherwise, you'll face deadly consequences."
Just as he spoke, the dark clouds in the sky started to let multiple electric sparks and created a ray of bluish lightning.
That blue lightning made an arc in the sky and directly fell towards the street!
No, it precisely moved towards Charles's head!
It was so fast that it would be impossible for any ordinary Mystic to perceive such a sneak attack!

But just as the lightning arc was about to land on Charles's head, he suddenly curled his lips upward and spoke.
"Sun's Guard."
A second later, a sunshine layer appeared all over his body and completely enveloped him.
Then, the blue ray of lightning landed on his defensive spell and created a loud explosion!
Shock waves in the form of electric arcs spread in all directions.
After a short time, the bluish lightning and electric sparks started to disperse and soon disappeared from everyone's eyes.
But to others' shock, Charles's defensive shield didn't break.
Instead, only a few cracks appeared on the top area.
"What is the meaning of this?" Charles dispersed the shield spell and asked in an icy tone.
At that same time, he released his wisdom power!
Although he could only release 70% of his original body, it was more than enough to alert a Rank-5 Existence!
An invisible power assaulted Richie's mind.
'You are courting death!' Anger appeared on his face.
Just as he was about to attack Charles, he suddenly forgot what to do next!
Simultaneously, he saw the deep-blue-haired young man raised his hand all of a sudden and moved towards his face.
Slap!
A loud slapping sound echoed in the rainy street.
After that, Charles turned around and started walking towards the Inn.
Destiny Lady also followed after him, and soon both of them disappeared from everyone's eyes.
On the other hand, a reddish hand imprint appeared on Richie's face!
"Y-YOU-" He tried to open his mouth, but no words came out.
Meanwhile, Beckett and all other spying Mystics were utterly stupefied.
At that moment, a single thought appeared in everyone's mind.
'That guy is totally crazy!'
Richie also got shocked by his strange suppressive power and grew fearful of the duo.
'That bastard is not a normal Rank-4 Mystic! Even I wouldn't be a match for him. As for that woman...' He abruptly froze.
Then only did he realize something.
'Wait... She hadn't even lifted a finger during all this time. Is she more powerful than the young man?' He couldn't help but shiver a little.
'F*ck! Where did they even come from? I need to eliminate them. Otherwise, they might trouble me in the future. In the worst-case scenario, they might even kill me.' He soon woke up from the shock and spoke in a gloomy voice.
"Let's go."
Saying so, he crossed the street road, arrived near the street lamp, and untied the destrier.
Then, he took the umbrella from Beckett's hand, mounted it on the warhorse, and started riding it towards the exit.
As he disappeared into the dark road, tens of Mystics came out of different houses and looked at the Inn.
Within a few minutes, a large crowd gathered in front of the entrance, and they started discussing in whispers.
Some Mystics laughed at Richie's bad luck, while others shifted their attention towards the duo.
Meanwhile, Charles and Destiny Lady returned to their rooms and went to sleep.
...
On the sixth day,
It was around 8.A.M.
Charles and Destiny Lady walked out of the Inn in their formal dress and moved towards the end of Runaway Street.
Their destination was, of course, the Lion Bar!
That was where Richie would gather all foreign Mystics once a week and select candidates for the illegal jobs.
Although the clone Charles didn't like to be a villain, he didn't put too much thought into it.
As long as the job didn't affect ordinary people's lives, he wouldn't mind working as a villain for a while.
Moreover, his feelings towards Destiny Lady also had gotten stronger than before.
But he still didn't feel that it was the right time to tell her about his feelings.
'I'll tell her once we manage to find some clue about her friend. After all, we are going to stick together for a while, right?' He muttered to himself and then continued to observe the surroundings.
