Fire Mage Chapter 220

Chapter 220: Elder
In the pitch-black night, City of Iron, Eastern Gate.
Two leather-armored guards sat near the city gate entrance and appeared to be in the middle of discussing something serious.
"I'm telling you, Lark. Giselle is not a good woman. There are many bad rumors about her." A silver-haired guard said while massaging his temple.
Meanwhile, the other black-haired guard coldly snorted and refused to believe his words.
"You are just jealous of our relationship. Two days ago, she even gave me a knitted cap as a present and told me that you tried to flirt with her."
"T-That b*tch! I would never flirt with a woman like her." The silver-haired guard cursed her out loud.
"Don't insult my woman, Ray!" The black-haired man suddenly clenched his fist and roared.
Just when they were about to start a fight, the silver-haired man named Ray suddenly stood up and stared at the opposite side with wide eyes.
At that moment, a black-haired woman suddenly appeared out of nowhere and glanced around warily. She wore a black sheath dress and looked gorgeous even in the dim touch lights.
Before Ray could snap out from the shock, he saw a humanoid flame suddenly appear near her and soon formed into a young man, who looked around 20 to 23 years old. His face showed a little bit of maturity; he had deep-blue hair and an oval face and wore a black hooded dress.
Charles first looked at three different dirt paths separated in front of them and turned his gaze towards the silver-haired guard.
"Do you know which route do we have to take to go to Black Pond Village?"
Ray froze for a moment and soon pointed his finger at his right side path.
"If you follow this path, you will be able to reach the village in an hour or two, My Lord." He said in a nervous tone.

Nodding his head, Charles glanced at Natalia and asked.
"Shall we go-?"
Before he could finish the sentence, two crystalline ice wings appeared behind Natalia's back, flapped on their own, and made her float in the air.
Charles raised his eyebrows, cast [Red Wings] spell, and flew upward.
Then, both flapped their wings and followed the right side path while maintaining some distance from the ground.
They flew past farmhouses from time to time and soon saw an isolated village at the end of the path.
"We should go by walk. Your fire wings are too eye-catching." Natalia said as she slows down her momentum, flapped the thin icy wings twice, and descended.
Charles also nodded his head in approval and followed after her.
Once they landed, both dismissed their wings spells and started walking towards the Black Pond village.
Within a few minutes, they reached the village entrance, asked the guards, and also learned the exact location of Bread Maker's farmhouse.
Then, they didn't wait any longer and started walking towards the farmhouse, which was located a little farther away from the village.
Charles and Natalia silently walked on the ridge near the paddy field and soon saw a lone house in the middle of a maize farm.
Even though it was dark, they manage to see the surroundings clearly due to the rise of two red moons from the east and stealthily walk towards the house.
While walking, they also noticed a small pond near the farmhouse and confirmed their target's house.
The farmhouse was just a cottage-style house with fences surrounding it.
Charles even saw some goats inside the fence and became surprised inside.
"Who would think that this harmless farmer is actually a terrifying schemer?" Natalia couldn't help but praise his hiding skill.
If not for his [Fire Seed] spell and divination method, they wouldn't have found any clues about him at all!

Charles also nodded his head in approval as they reached the front yard and moved towards the entrance.
At that moment, the wooden gate opened with a creaking noise, and soon a black-haired man walked out from it.
He covered half of his face with a red scarf, wore a cotton duck coat, leather pants, brown boots, and a straw hat.
He appeared around 180 cm high, broad shoulder, and his eyes were grey.
Because of the red scarf, Charles couldn't confirm whether the farmer was their target or not.
"Is he the one?" He couldn't help but cast inspect skill on him.
On the other hand, Natalia also frowned and released her wisdom power towards his direction.
The next instant, both of their face turned ugly.
'My cryptic analysis skill is not working... His wisdom power is above mine.' Charles instantly halted his footsteps, took out the Starfall Codex book, and held it in his hand.
Simultaneously, Natalia also halted her movement and stared at him with a wary expression on her face.
Meanwhile, the black-haired man stepped down from the entrance, stared at them for a moment, and took out a strange bluish gem from his pocket.
"You guys sure are late." He spoke in a hoarse voice, which caused Charles and Natalia to shudder a little.
But to their shock, neither of them felt any forewarning from their class skills and became stunned inside.
At that moment, the real Charles's eyebrows suddenly raised upward in the Inner World.
Even he didn't think that their future predicting skills would become nullified by the enemy and was startled a little.
'But I heard from Runeth that Book of Secrets could even work against legendary mages, right?' He narrowed his eyes for a moment and soon widened his eyes as he thought of a possibility.
'Runeth once said that there are few existences out there that could nullify the effects of Time, Fate, and Luck powers... Taboo Existences, Divines, Warlocks, and few Ancient Mages... Divine... The stalking Divine finally revealed its presence!' The corner of his lips suddenly rose.
'Let's see what this guy is planning now.' He nodded his head and soon disappeared from there.
The next instant, he appeared in the depths of the Inner World and soon saw a strange crystalline mark in the sky.
It was the mark that helped him to enslave the Holem's Crown!
At the same time, the clone Charles and Natalia felt a terrifying oppressive power coming from the black-haired young man named Elder and backed away hurriedly.
"We aren't his match," Natalia said in a grave tone and was about to cast her [Fate Swift] skill but soon froze.
Charles's expression also turned into a shocked one as he cast [Flame Teleportation] spell, but couldn't see any changes at all!
At that moment, both of them heard a strange glass breaking sound from the front and felt a unique power encircling them.
Charles stared at the broken blue gem with wary eyes and realized that they fell for the enemy's trap!
"Don't be anxious. I'm just used the Divine Tear and locked the surrounding space. We can play here without any disturbance now." Elder's voice turned eerie as he tossed the broken gem and opened his arms wide.

Alex and Julius, a pair of brothers, try their best to make it in a North America reshaped by an eldritch apocalypse. “Stop right there Philip!” Julius interrupted, the vein on his temple starting to throb. “I do not want to hear another simile about what magic is. I have had magic explained to me by three cult leaders, a wizard, and a cannibal. I've heard that magic is like a rainbow, all its parts blending together. The human unconsciousness, powerful and unknowable. A body, you don't want to eat the heart straight away. I am sick and tired of people telling me what magic is. I know damn well what it is.” He drew a breath, interrupting his rant. “Magic is a bad joke. A whole lot of setup, for some nonsense punchline. This whole god-damned apocalypse is an eldritch comedy.”
