Hu~!
Shin exhaled very slowly as he was trying to enter the optimal state that he was looking for. And after a few moments of breathing rhythmically, the mana flow inside his body suddenly started flowing violently like the waves of a raging river.
After a few more moments, Shin felt that his veins felt hot due to the restless flow. And now, the violent waves of the river suddenly became the flowing magma from the mouth of a volcano.
Hu~!
A moment later, Shin started breathing out some hot streams that flew out from the gaps of the mask.
'Berserk Breathing Technique: Black Origin Threshold'
Bang!
Then Shin suddenly re-opened his eyes, making the air surrounding him turn heavy and suffocating.
With all of the recent training with Professor Plum, Shin was able to master both of the breathing techniques that Old Plum had created. And between those special states, he was more proficient at using the 'White Dawn Boundary' since he was using a similar calming technique before.
But with his current situation, he didn't need the absolute tranquil state provided by this breathing technique nor the enhanced senses given by it.
After all, the current strength and power of the Abyss Knight in front of him were way over the limit of what he could currently endure.
So, what he needed right now was the powerful strength given by the 'Black Origin Threshold' together with the enhanced instincts provided by the berserk state of this special technique.
At the same time, he also changed the sheath on his left hand into its longsword form by activating the 'Meteor Form' of the 'Mondi's Style'. And immediately after the transformation, he quickly enfolded both of his swords with the powers of the Brilliant Sun.
'Epic Combat Technique: Sunshine Wielding'
These techniques were a perfect combo since the berserk state provided by the 'Black Origin Threshold' was complementing the violent flames of the 'Sunshine Wielding'.
But using them simultaneously was going to put a great toll on his mind and would drain a lot of his concentration.
Fortunately, he only needed to hold these states for fifteen minutes at most which were within the limit that he could handle.
Bang!
Swoosh!
Right after the sudden transformation of his battle prowess, Shin immediately kicked the ground and launched himself forward while controlling his werewolf clones to charge alongside him.

But Immortal would naturally not let Shin do everything he wanted. So, he immediately chanted out a couple of necromantic words when he sensed the sudden change of atmosphere surrounding his opponent while also doing some hand gestures with his free hand.
And before Shin could even take his sudden charge, Immortal was already casting his buffs at the Abyss Knight.
In an instant, the sword that the knight was holding was set ablaze by a black gorgeous flame which made the sword longer and broader. So, that sword now had the appearance of a heavy-looking greatsword enfolded by black flame.
At the same time, its mount also got a couple of buffs which also made its appearance changed.
The fully armored horse earlier now had a blazing horn on its forehead, sticking out like a unicorn's horn. Alongside it, its tail also transformed into a blazing purple flame while its hooves were being enfolded with the same-colored flame.
Swoosh!
And that was only the time when Shin made his move.
Clang!
Bang! Bang!
But just like earlier, the Abyss Knight just returned his strike with much greater power than Shin while also sending him flying back to where he came from.
Moreover, it also had enough time to repel the attacks of the two werewolves coming from each of its sides and also send them backward.
Grr! Grr!
Bang! Bang!
Regardless, Shin still controlled his werewolves to immediately rushed back at the Abyss Knight right after their feet touched the ground.
Meanwhile, his main body was accumulating a lot of fire elemental mana from his surroundings to further enhance his 'Sunshine Wielding'. "I need a little bit of firepower!"
Boom!
Then a sudden explosion occurred due to the overheating of his swords. And due to that, the blades of his swords were currently in bright orange color while being surrounded by brilliant white flames.
After that, he immediately charged towards the Abyss Knight once again while his werewolves were keeping it busy.
Clang! Clang!
A mounted opponent was more powerful when they were doing charge attacks with their mounts. And since Shin was fully aware of this fact, he took advantage of it by not giving the Abyss Knight and its horse to move around freely.
And even though the Abyss Knight was able to move from time to time, Shin and his clones were always chasing after it closely, not giving it any space nor time to do a charging attack.

Clang! Clang!
Normally, Shin was going to leave his clones to deal with the Abyss Knight so that he could go after Immortal personally.
Unfortunately, his clones were not strong enough to handle the Abyss Knight alone. So, they were only going to get demolished by it if ever he left them behind.
Regardless, the scene on this battlefield was still quite stunning. Especially when someone saw the sight of the Abyss Knight riding its mount and leaving a bunch of blazing trails behind.
On each side of this Abyss Knight was a pair of werewolves running along with the armored horse, while also attacking it from time to time.
Right behind those three, there was a hooded figure who was chasing after them by foot while holding a pair of blazing swords on each of his hands.
Bang! Bang!
Shin was lagging behind those three because he was being hindered by Immortal by sending a couple of homing spells on his directions.
Each of those spells would always have a tricky trajectory, so Shin couldn't focus on chasing after the Abyss Knight since he was too busy at dodging all of them.
Just like how Shin knew that his clones couldn't defeat the Abyss Knight all by themselves, Immortal would naturally be aware of such an obvious fact and used it to his advantage.
But despite Immortal having the upper hand, Shin could still feel that there was some impatience on some of his moves.
And when he sensed that, his head suddenly started working fast as he tried to figure out the reason behind it.
The first thought that entered his mind was due to the Forbidden Spell that Immortal used earlier. But he immediately rejected the idea since he could clearly see that his opponent was able to insta-cast his spells without any problems.
The next thing that he could think of was the issue regarding the Superior Mana Vein. But given how cunning Immortal was, Shin knew that he was not going to make such a move of taking all of his apostles with him without having any decent backup plan in mind.
'If it is not those two, then what is it?' thought Shin to himself while dodging yet another set of spells before resuming his chase after the Abyss Knight.
'Unless there was an unexpected variable that I'm not aware of,' a few moments later, a sudden thought flashed inside Shin's mind which made him slow down his moves a little.
But before Shin could even figure out what it was, Immortal immediately grabbed the small opening and quickly sent out a barrage of high-powered spells towards his direction.
Hu~!
Seeing those, Shin quickly forgot everything else and immediately swung his swords left and right, perfectly deflecting each of those spells.
"Tsk! Fine! Let's forget about it now and just focus on this fight," muttered Shin before using a couple of his movement skills to quickly chase after the Abyss Knight once again.
After a few more moments, he finally caught up with the three and quickly assaulted the Abyss Knight with their coordinated attacks.
Due to the insane speed of the two werewolves alongside his unpredictable rhythm and powerful strength, the Abyss Knight was forced to halt the movements of its mount to focus on defense.
Even if Immortal was sending a set of powerful spells to assist his summoned monster, Shin was always keeping all of those spells at bay by using his powerful strikes to either deflect or destroy them head-on.
"You really are forcing my hand!" said Immortal with a solemn tone when he saw that Shin's was getting way stronger as he got accustomed to his current state.
So, he immediately gathered a large amount of dark elemental mana from the surroundings while chanting out a couple of necromantic words.
Seeing that, Shin thought that Immortal was finally planning to summon his Zombie Dragon. But after reading the fluctuation of mana in the air, he knew that it wasn't the case.
Bang! Bang!
Then a pair of silhouettes suddenly came out from the ground and sent his clones flying with a powerful strike.
Shin quickly controlled his clones to move away from the Abyss Knight when he saw the sudden ambush so that he could observe the new undead that Immortal had summoned.
And that was when his face became solemn due to the details that he saw from the information windows of these new creatures. "Now, it really became a drag."

Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.
