Child Of Destiny Chapter 465

...…
The things in Blind Abyss Empire were still as 'lively' as ever.
The ongoing war between the two hegemons, the Undying Guild and Central Order were still at its peak.
The state of the battle was still in a total stalemate where neither side was refusing to back down nor to hand the Ancient Ruins to the other.
The Undying Guild might have the upper hand on this war but since they were also dealing with the other guilds that were eyeing their other territories, the armies were forced to be divided on every part of the Blind Abyss Empire where their most important territories were located.
But this was not the only thing that was being discussed in the online forums of the game.
Because there was still a pair of news that was attracting the attention of every playing of the Blind Abyss Empire.
The first one was a rumor regarding a 'special NPC' inside the Ancient Ruins where the Undying Guild and Central Order were currently fighting. And this 'NPC' was so strong that even some of the elite forces of the two Super Guilds couldn't do anything about it.
The first group who managed to discover this 'NPC' was completely wiped out and no one managed to properly gauge its strength.
Given that, both the Undying Guild and Central Order respectively sent a group of experts in their arsenal to confirm the report that they got. And what they discovered after that shook both of the parties.
The said 'NPC' was really strong – not only it could summon a group of powerful undead monsters but it could also turn the corpses of its victims into demonic monsters who had a battle capability that was on par with the strong experts of the guild.
That ability was pretty much the same as the legacies received by every member of the Undying Guild. But there was something that made each of its summons special. Some of the undead and demonic summons of the said 'NPC' seemed to have a little bit of sanity – meaning, each of the summons was rumored to have a mind of their own.
But that was not the most problematic thing being dealt with by the Undying Guild and Central Order. Because this particular 'NPC' also had another ability which made it a scary being.
Aside from having insanely strong monster summons, this 'NPC' also had the ability to wield the holy powers of the Sun – which was supposedly the bane of all undead and demonic beings.
The said 'NPC' had a bunch of powerful spells that could even wipe a whole group of elite players in an instant.
But what made it even worse, the summoned undead and demonic monsters became immune to almost all kinds of holy powers due to that particular power of the said 'NPC'.
If the Undying Guild and Central Order were only going to deal with the monster summons, then they could still think of a way to defeat this problematic 'NPC'.
After all, the Undying Guild specialized in summoning Undead and Demonic Monsters, so they would obviously have a way to counter power monsters with the same nature. Especially that there were no other types of monsters that could be hunted in the Blind Abyss Empire aside from the Undead and Demonic Monsters.
Given that, they obviously had a way to counter such monsters as it was their daily routine.
On the other hand, the Central Order would naturally have a way to counter such monsters. After all, they were currently dealing with the Undying Guild who was a master of undead summoning itself.

So, they would surely have a special card on their sleeves to fight against the summons of their rivals.
But unfortunately for these two groups, they actually find their current nemesis in the form of this particular 'NPC'.
Since the summons of the 'NPC' were immune to most of the Holy Powers, all of them practically had no weakness which made the Central Order pretty much helpless.
And since the 'NPC' itself was wielding a specialized Power of the Sun, the members of the Undying Guild had no choice to back down and not dare to bother this 'NPC' anymore.
Given those, both the Undying Guild and Central Order gave up on defeating this particular 'NPC' for the time being. Or at least let it live until the current Army Commander of the respective Guilds freed themselves from keeping their rivals in check.
After all, those two were both Godlike Players who were only two steps behind the Peak Gods of the game.
If that news was already shocking, then the other hot topic in the online forums was even more crazy than it.
After all, it was an 'NPC' so it was natural for it to be that powerful where both the Super Guilds gave up on taking it down.
But the news after that was much crazier than what every player could expect.
There was a rumor saying that there was a 'group' of strong players who dared to hunt down each member of the Undying Guild while the war was still going on.
Hunting down the members of a powerful guild was not big news to every veteran player since it was a usual strategy used by some strong experts to seek revenge on their enemies. But hunting those members in their own turf was a completely different matter.
It was a complete disrespect which was no different than peeing them on their face. So, the Undying Guild would naturally not willing to suffer this kind of total humiliation.
They mobilized one of their standby armies and sent it to the location where the said 'group of players' was last seen.
But not long after they sent that army, a report was immediately sent back at their headquarters and was asking for immediate reinforcement.
Hearing that, the Headquarters would naturally doubt such a ridiculous report at first. And due to that doubt, a second report was immediately delivered. And what was written on it shook the command center to its core.
– "The entire army was completely wiped out." –
That particular report made the command center of the Undying Guild to panic a little and immediately reported it to their higher-ups.
Such a report even alerted the 'Apostles' of their Guild Master – because such a feat could only be done by a particular type of a player.
An 'elite group' of Godlike Players appeared at the Blind Abyss Empire! And they were currently hunting the members of the Undying Guild!
This news was somehow leaked in the public – or more precisely, purposely leaked by the spies planted within the inner circle of the Undying Guild.
And due to that, chaos immediately followed that particular news.
Since such a powerful 'group' of players made themselves known, the Undying Guild would naturally be going to send some of their top experts to deal with them. And because of that, the other powerful guilds would naturally have time to start mobilizing their armies to proceed to the next plan of their plans.
Naturally, the Central Order would also get the wind of such big news. And that was why they immediately hastened their assaults to put more pressure on the opposing side.

After all, an opportunity like this was pretty hard to come by, so they were going to make sure that the Undying Guild would not have time to properly recover.
In an instant, the Undying Guild was suddenly besieged on all sides by different enemies. And that news made the higher-ups of the guild become furious. Even the Apostles of Immortal volunteered themselves to be sent into different battlefields so that they could humor these 'opportunists' why they were the rulers of this land.
Such a rippling effect would naturally be going to make the Central Order the major suspect who secretly pulled a string behind the scene. After all, they were currently at war with the Undying Guild – so doing such a move was definitely going to be reasonable as it was a perfect misdirection move in the art of war.
Moreover, they were currently the only ones who were most likely going to spend such manpower just to redirect the attention of the Undying Guild.
But the Central Order refused to admit those accusations. Even though no one believed their excuses.
But not long after, they were able to 'prove' their innocence when a particular battle video was released in the public. It was the entire battle between the 'mysterious group' and the army sent by the Undying Guild.
And that particular video shocked every player of the Blind Abyss Empire even more. Because the group was totally outnumbered when they were facing the hundreds of players from the Undying Guild.
The mysterious group only had four members in total-… no… it actually five including the powerful white tiger pet of a 'member' of the group.
But the strange thing, the other three members of the group were seemingly not a player at all. They looked more of a summon than a player.
One of the members was a strange man in green butler's clothes. There was a ruffle collar around his neck which gave the impression that he was a clown.
His eyes were crimson red as a cloud of black smoke was being released from his body. There were a bunch of floating daggers around him that were flying towards his enemies with a single thought.
And what made him even more strange was his habit of dancing with every victim of his daggers who died after being stabbed multiple times. Taking a closer look at him, he seemed to be sucking particular energy from their corpses before throwing them on the ground like some sort of trash.
Meanwhile, the next member of the group was also quite strange compared to normal people. His skin was too pale to be considered as someone from the Human Race and quite lively compared to the players with Undead Race.
Regardless, he was also quite handsome which made him look like a noble figure. Especially with his long silver hair along with the western-style outfit that he was wearing.
There was also a pair of huge crimson wings on his back while there was a rapier sword on his hand which was seemingly made from blood.
He was hovering in the air aloof expression on his face as if he was a sovereign who was coldly looking down on his subjects. And with every swing of his sword, a crescent wave with crimson color was going to be sent towards the members of the Undying Guild right below him.
On the other hand, the third member was also a strange humanoid creature due to his purple skin. He seemed to be an old man due to his long mustache with white color. His head was also pulled of white hair as they were tied into a long ponytail like an ancient person.
His outfit was also quite unusual as it looked like the outfits of the ninjas of ancient times. The weapon on his hand was also a little strange as it was a double-headed halberd with each blade facing in a different direction.
This particular old man was much scarier compared to the previous two. Because despite holding a weapon in his hand, he was actually not moving for an inch.
He just stood on his body with closed eyes and crossed arms behind his back with his weapon in hand. But despite doing nothing, every player around him was dying due to being sliced by something that couldn't be seen.
And due to that sight, no one dared to get near that old man no matter how loud their superiors shouted at them.
And last but not the least, the last and final member of this group who was the 'closest' one to be a real player.
No one could clearly see his real features due to the strange cloak that he was wearing. But most of the players who were watching the battle video all had a slight guess on who it was.
It was because of his cloak which was very unique to a certain guy who also shook the virtual gaming world just recently. Especially with the black feathers attached to that very cloak that he was wearing.
"The Nameless Swordsman!"
No… he should be known now as-…
"The Angel of Death!"
The players of the Blind Abyss Empire were all shocked right after realizing the identity of the man who was currently slaughtering his enemies in the field. But at the same time, they were also quite confused as to why he was provoking a Powerhouse Guild such as the Undying Guild.
But that was really important right now. Because the thing that shocked them the most was the current battle prowess that he was showing in this current battle.
Pretty much the same as the old man earlier, not everyone could clearly see how he was attacking.
From the perspective of most of the players watching the battle video, what they saw was Shin walking casually in the middle of the battle brushing past every enemy who dared to attack him at the same time.
Not a single skill or spell managed to touch his body, but every person that he passed through died by being cut by something that they didn't see.
Such sight made the viewers have an intense shiver that ran through their backs as they could clearly see how much of a monster this guy had become in such a short period of time.
Then not long after, another shocking news spread across the viewers who saw the battle video. The other three people who were fighting alongside Shin were all actually his summons!
Meaning, he practically wiped out the entire army sent by the Undying Guild 'all by himself'!
And such news led everyone towards a single conclusion. – "The 'Angel of Death' is here to use his Godly Challenge Right!" –
And the target of that challenge was pretty much obvious!
Provoking the entire Undying Guild was the same as provoking its Guild Leader, which meant that the 'Angel of Death' was currently challenging the 'Lich God, Immortal'!

All of Kellan's friends sure did, and for all of them, entertaiment media were a welcome escape from their painful, dreary lives. After all, who wouldn't want to sail the seas with Monkey D. Luffy and the Strawhats, or help Meng Hao con increasingly powerful and influential people, or join Cecil Harvey and his friends on their weird journey to save the world, or make friends with Peter Parker while pretending to not know he was everyone's favorite wall-crawling superhero? Kellan certainly wanted to, and while he pursued college to seek out a career he saw himself enjoying, something felt inexplicably empty about his life. So when a decidely sinister force kidnaps him and the prettiest man he's ever seen saves his life and offers him his wildest dreams, Kellan becomes the shopkeeper of a mysterious, dimension hopping shop, complete with a system that helps him acquire items. abilities, materials, and other cool shit to stock it with, as well as some other neat perks. Will he keep his generally kind, sweet nature despite the shit he's gone through and will go through, or will he inexplicably become a scary, violent, irrational arrogant douchebag? Will he use his newfound abilities to explore the multiverse and improve the lives of himself and others, or will he become his own antithesis, a purely mercantile jerk obsessed with money and profit, with no concern for anything that doesn't help or hurt his business? Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute. The art, along with more of Nicholas's pieces, can be found at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/51bXz
