Real World, Soaring Continent
A bunch of powerful individuals were currently having a meeting in the Military Headquarters on the Capital City. Everyone present inside the conference room were the famous guys in the cultivation world, and this meeting was being led by the Demon Fist General Samuel Springfield.
At the same time, the twin star duo of the Springfield Family was currently standing behind him with the 'Dragon King Nathan' being on the right side and the 'Brutal Demon Bernard' on the other side.
Aside from these three, the other guys present in the room were not to be trifled with either. One of them was a lean old man wearing a white daoist robe. The atmosphere around this old man was quite mysterious as he seemed to be a part of nature itself. This old man was Professor Plum, Shin's Martial-art Master.
Sitting right across Old Plum was another old man, who was wearing an oversized taoist robe. He was a fat old man with a big round belly. Obviously, this guy was the Shin's Mentalism Teacher, Grandmaster Benn.
There was also another man who seemed to be hiding his identity because he was wearing a black robe which was covering his entire body. The aura surrounding him was seemingly a very dangerous one despite him doing nothing and sitting on his spot quietly. This guy bore no name as he was only known as the 'Hermit' in the cultivation world.
And sitting on the seat on his right was an old woman who was wearing a mask to cover the left half of her face. She was currently wearing the traditional Chinese Hanfu. There was also a Chinese paper umbrella resting on her lap as he sat on her place quietly.
But despite her seemingly harmless appearance, this old woman was actually one of the most notorious mentalists in the cultivation world and she was known as the 'Lotus of Death'. Her name was Luvenia Potter.
Granny Luvenia turned her head at the empty seats around the round table before turning her gaze at the four old men while saying. "Looks like the others are not willing attend this meeting this time, huh?"
Old Benn, who was sitting lazily since the moment he arrived here, suddenly turned his head at her before replying. "You can't blame them. With this Old Demon being the initiator of this meeting, the matter that we are going to discuss will surely be a troublesome one."

Hearing that, Old Plum couldn't help but nod his head before agreeing. "That is a given, which is also the reason why I am starting to regret coming here."
Ahem!
General Samuel immediately cut the conversation by clearing his throat a little too loudly. Then he immediately said right a second later. "Looks like the others are really not going to come this time. So, let's start this meeting now before this Old Monster completely changes his mind and gets out of here."
Cough! Cough!
Old Plum started coughing hardly the moment he heard that then he avoided looking at the General and said. "That is not what I mean. I am just saying you should tell us the reason why you called for this meeting so that we can deal with it as soon as possible."
General Samuel smirked the moment he heard that before saying. "Heh! You want to deal with this matter as soon as possible? Let me tell you. This matter really needs the concern of the Elder Council since this is about the Shadow Alliance."
The atmosphere inside the conference room suddenly turned heavy the moment those words left his mouth; especially when the other four heard the words 'Shadow Alliance'.
Silence descended inside the conference room for quite some time before Old Plum finally opened his mouth. "Are those guys finally making their moves on our continent this time?"
"But after the incident that they made at Sun-Moon Continent, I doubt that they are going to make a big move right now. Especially that it is going to expose their location to us and the World Government."
General Samuel nodded his head when he heard that and said. "Of course, they are not going to make something big this time. But we somehow managed to get some of their trails this time."
Then he stopped talking and waved his right hand at Nathan, signaling for the later to take over. And when Nathan saw that, he immediately nodded his head and stepped forward while opening a virtual screen on his advance watch.
The virtual scene was showing the whole map of the Soaring Continent which was divided in its main regions. Then Nathan did a couple of taps on the virtual screen, making the Main Region to zoom in. There were some red dots scattered on the whole map of the Main Region, signifying some locations in it.
After that, Nathan started talking. "Thanks to the information that we got from the incident in Michigan City, we managed to find a lot of information regarding the organization behind that laboratory."

"So, with our investigations, we managed to prove that the organization is one of the direct subordinates of the Shadow Alliance. And these places marked in the map are their laboratories."
"Unfortunately, those guys are quite fast at making their moves. The moment they learned about the incident in Michigan City, they immediately decided to abandon all of these laboratories to destroy all of the evidence. And they are brutal enough to kill all of the minor people involved in all of the projects to make sure that there are no more leaks."
The frown that Old Plum had was growing further and further upwards the more he listened on Nathan's report. And when he couldn't take it anymore, he suddenly cut off what the latter was saying. "Wait! You can stop there for now, Little Nathan."
The corner of Nathan's mouth suddenly started twitching the moment heard how he was addressed. But he chose to remain silent as a form of respect on seniority.
Unfortunately, Old Plum didn't give a d*mn about his feelings and asked his own concern. "We are not a military council here so you don't need to give us these kinds of useless sh*ts."
"What we want to hear is your discovery about the Shadow Alliance. Because from what you are currently saying, you seemingly did not find anything useful to us."
Then he paused for a moment before tapping the table in the middle of the group while saying. "Let me remind you. The Elder Council is made with a purpose of dealing with the Hegemons of the dark side of this world, and not to deal with some military things. Because that is your job, isn't it?"
Hearing that, Nathan couldn't help but swept his gazed at the other three, who remained quiet but seemed to be nodding their heads. He then cleared his throat before bowing his head while saying. "I am sorry about that, Sir."
After that, he continued. "The Shadow Alliance seems to be always one step ahead of us by erasing all of the possible traces that may lead towards them, but they forgot about a single thing."
Nathan didn't wait for them to ask what it was and immediately continued. "We are now aware about one of the Aristocratic Families that are supporting them from the shadows."
The Old Plum and the other three suddenly became interested the moment they heard that. And this time, it was Old Benn's turn to ask the question. "Did you also get that information from the spies that you have captured?"
Hearing that, Nathan immediately answered. "No, Sir. But it is from a reliable source who tipped us about the Black Serpent Mafia Training Camp six years ago."
"Oh~! That guy. I am starting to become curious about this guy's identity. From what I know, he is only sending us the tip but never shows himself," muttered Old Benn after hearing that.
At the same time, the 'Hermit' who was quiet since the time he arrived here finally opened his mouth to say something. "Is that a reliable information?"
Nathan immediately gave his answer the moment he heard that. "Yes, Sir! We already verified it and just discovered that this certain Family really has some shady dealings with the subordinate organizations of the Shadow Alliance."
"So, what are your plans? Don't tell me we are going to raid this family right off the bat?" asked Granny Luvenia with a smirking tone.
Then Nathan immediately answered. "Not exactly ma'am. From the tip that we got, there is going to be a big transaction between this family and the Shadow Alliance's direct subordinate in the next few days. And we are planning to sneak some people in while we are going to raid the said Aristocrat Family at the same time."
Hearing that, Granny Luvenia immediately agreed without a slightest bit of hesitation. "So, you want us to deal with the Old Monsters of the said Family during the raid? I have no problem with it."
Then she paused for a moment and squinted her eyes before asking. "But is that all that you need from us? Because something as simple as this can actually be done with a virtual meeting. So, tell us. What is the other thing that you want?"
Nathan took a quick look at his father the moment he heard about that. And when he saw that the General nodded his head, he immediately nodded back before saying to Granny Luvenia.
"The sneaking operation is needed to be with someone in the younger generation so we would like to ask your permission about borrowing your disciples for this assignment."

Luck Lockyer
Luck Lockyer was the type of man to smirk in the dark, the expression not for anyone but himself. One of perpetual amusement. The bright side of things were hard to find in the shade yet his amber eyes were always searching. The smirk was his default, he knew it, his friends knew it, his family knew it. It was his most natural state. But the death of everyone close to you can affect a downwards curve on the mouths of even the most stoic people. The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted. Simple. Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
