Child Of Destiny Chapter 255

...…
Shin looked at the surging groups of players that were rushing towards the werewolf boss crazily. From his perspective, they looked like a bunch of mindless creatures that were madly running towards their target.
He took a helpless sigh before muttering to himself. "For how scary greed can be?"
Seeing this sight, Shin couldn't help himself but recall some almost forgotten memories that he really wanted to be buried forever.
Wasn't this sight being too similar to those times whenever their trainers on the camp put a bunch of tasty and delicious foods on the dining table for everyone to fight over it?
Those memories in the Mafia Training Camp might be bitter as almost everything in it was too harsh and cruel; especially the training that they have in there. But even if that was the case, Shin still had to admit that all of those training were for them to understand how the rules of the world really work; and it was the same whether it was in the real world or in a virtual one.
With those thoughts in mind, Shin couldn't help but release a helpless sigh before muttering to himself. "What a cruel world."
And that was also the time when Shin heard Simba's voice calling out for him to take the last hit for the werewolf boss and get the majority of the bonus EXP.
Then he raised his head to look at the sky with meaningful eyes and saw the 3 moons of the game all being in their full form.
Seconds later, he started muttering once again. "It looks like a perfect night for transformation."
After that, he activated one of the unique equipment skills that he currently had; and it was a berserk and transformation skill at the same time.
'Equipment Skill (Foot Armor: Shadow Dusk): Lycanthropy'
Then Shin transformed into a werewolf with furs that were jet black in color.
Shin immediately felt that power of this form even if he just transformed into it. What's more, it was already night time in the game and with full moons at that. So, the 'Full Moon's Blessings', one of the passive equipment skills attached to [Shadow Dusk], was also triggered and gave him another bonus stat-increase by one and a half level.
And since there was still some time left on the duration times of the 'Dawnbreaker' berserk skill and 'Speed of Light' movement boost skill, the strength and speed that Shim currently had was something that couldn't be ignored.
Immediately after that, Shin quickly turned his body around before starting rushing towards the location where the werewolf boss was located.
Given his current speed, it was natural for him to outrun everyone even if he was hiding in the middle of the opposing groups' ranks earlier with the help of the 'Conceal' equipment skill of the [Nightwalker's Cloak].

And because of his fast and powerful charge together with the very threatening feeling that he was giving, the werewolf boss could feel his presence even if they were apart for more than 30 meters.
Though the sharp eyes of the werewolf boss, it could still see the appearance of the charging figure that was coming after it. And when it saw that it was a 'fellow' werewolf, the monster boss couldn't help but become provoked by that sight.
Who was the werewolf boss? Wasn't it the king of all werewolves residing in this place? How dare this little pup challenge its authority?
As an Alpha wolf, it was natural for the werewolf boss to become enraged by the sight in front of it. And with that, it was determined to use its full strength to show to this puny little pup who was the real king of the wolves.
Then the werewolf boss released a loud howl announcing that it would not go backing down to any challenges. After that, it started dashing towards the incoming werewolf and planning to greet it with its full strength.
Meanwhile, when Shin saw that the werewolf boss was also charging towards him, his mouth suddenly formed a grin as if he could understand what was in its mind. And since he was aware of unwritten rules for hunters and assassins in real life, Shin also needed to go all-out as a token of respect for his fellow.
Carrying that thought in mind, Shin suddenly accelerated forward as he burst out with full speed.
Swoosh!
And when they reached each other, the eyes of the two werewolves met for a moment before the bigger wolf swung both of its claws forward. But werewolf Shin would also not be going to let himself be the loser either. He kicked the ground behind him to send himself striding forward.
And with those moments, Shin barely dodged the attack of the werewolf boss as the claws of the latter just brushed past the space right above his head.
After that, Shin immediately returned the favor and swung both of his claws at the chest of the werewolf boss right in front of him. And given the current stats that Shin currently had, was quite hard to imagine how fast the attack speed that he currently had.
Then the moment he was done throwing those claw strikes, Shin quickly used the 'Phantom Steps' skills to appear behind the werewolf boss and to avoid colliding at the huge body of the latter.
And accompanied by the momentum behind their speeds earlier, Shin and the werewolf boss continued at moving forward and only managed to stop themselves the moment they reached ten meters from each other.

Unfortunately for the werewolf boss, there was only a sliver of health on its HP bar. So, what happened next was already obvious. The body of the werewolf boss burst into some black smokes before turning into a bunch of eye-catching items that fell on the ground.
A moment after that, a series of system notifications bombard the ears of every player that were registered at the event, announcing the result and end of the first day of the monster horde event. And that very notification shocked all of those players at the same time.
"What the? Him again?"
"Aren't there a lot of groups sent by powerful guilds to get that Last Wave Boss? How the heck did he do that?"
These thoughts were the only things that were running in the minds of every player involved in this monster horde event.
The first one was for they were already familiar with the revealed name on the system notification while the other one was to show how much confusion they did have.
Going back to the side place where their questions were directed, everyone seemed to be too stunned at what had happened at first at the sight that they had witnessed. But they quickly regained themselves when someone shouted. "The Loots!!!"
Boom!
The frozen time seemed to be broken as everyone had gone mad once again. They quickly resumed at rushing forward once again with an even madder manner.
But if they were ignoring the other groups earlier, then they were now slaughtering each other. And this mess was even more chaotic than the chaos earlier.
And just like any other there would always be a group of players that were specialized at stealing loot. And this was also the scenario where they shine the most.
The chaos had just started yet there were already some figures in the middle of squatting as they tried to pick up some items from the loots that were dropped by the monster boss.
Unfortunately, they picked the wrong victim at this time.
"Don't you dare lay your hands on those! Those are our loots! We worked hard for those!"
Enraged, Shin had nothing in mind but murder. So, he let another burst of speed explosion before he disappeared from his current location. And on the very next moment, he suddenly reappeared right behind the players that were planning to steal away some of the loots on the ground.
Right after appearing, Shin quickly swung both of his claws at the two players in front of him, turning them into a bunch of specks of lights that disappeared a little later.
The other guys, on the other hand, were either chopped down by a battle-axe or smitten by a small pillar of golden lights.
And after executing the thieves, Shin's arms turned into multiple blurs as he picked up all the items on the ground while putting them in his inventory bag for as fast as he could.
Seeing what Shin was doing, the incoming players had gone even more crazy and quickly threw a bunch of long-range skills and spells in his direction.
"Blast him off and don't let anyone get near the loots," was the order that was being passed down by the leaders of these groups.
Well, that was a basic but most effective plan that could be used on the current situation. But unfortunately for them, Cloe and Simba would not be going to remain standing at the sidelines and let them do what they wanted.
First, Cloe chanted out some prayers to create a golden barrier around Shin and protect him inside it.
After that, Simba threw his battle-axe in a very powerful manner, sending it out like some sort of boomerang. And all of the players that were running on the very front of the charging players were slaughtered by that battle-axe, forcing them to halt their tracks once again.
And at this point, the players finally regained their senses and remembered that they were actually facing a monster group of players that just defeated a monster boss with a Raid Rank classification.
But as humans had always been greedy, they didn't mind being blind from the truth. They were always going to find a way to create a bunch of excuses to have some false courage as long as they could get what they wanted.
"Don't be afraid! We have the numbers with some quality, we can beat them as long as we join forces!"
"The loots will still have a 100% drop rate as long as we can kill them within 10 minutes."
"Attack! I don't believe that they can handle all of us!"
"Disregard the others for now. Kill those three with all of you've got."
And just like that, these players resumed at getting ideas of killing the trio with an intention of stealing the loots away from them. But it didn't take long for them to realize that they were just banging their heads against a steel wall.

Forget the System. Even if I'm a lowly support class, I'll take on the Tower and take them all down! Assigned at the moment of high school graduation, one's class determines their future. Rowan wanted the most out of life. A combat class, an intellectual class, either would be fine. When he is instead assigned a support class, Gardener, he notices the System is completely rigged against support classes. Refusing to give up on his dream of realizing his future by his own terms, Rowan challenges the Tower, the seat of the System and home of the Hero-King, in hopes of bringing the entire System to its knees. Season One complete. Permanent Hiatus, Pending Rewrite. Important notes: -LitRPG fantasy -Rowan is not perfect. He's got flaws, emotions, and personal issues to work through. If you want a perfect, overpowered MC who makes the right decision every time, this is NOT the work for you. -This story opens with a negative situation and an emotional growth arc for the main character. Please don't review until chapter 30 because the arc is not complete until that chapter. (Chapters are short, that's an average RR book's chapter 10) -No harem, no rape, no isekai, no romance -Questions? Please ask!

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
