Soul For A Girlfriend? Chapter 60

It was the start of August. Our end semester exams were only two weeks away. I was walking towards my class, while thinking about the events that took place last week. My relationship with Yasurouka has grown a lot, even though she might not be consciously aware of that yet.
I walked up the stairs and turned around towards my classroom. I could see a group of people standing, blocking the front door of the class. I didn't pay any attention to them as I thought of entering from the back door instead.
As I closed in on the group of students, I noticed that there were some girls, and from their looks I assumed they were from another class since I couldn't recognise them. Someone from their group was talking quite loudly to someone. I couldn't see who they were talking with since there was a crowd of students attracted by this commotion blocking my view.
As I was about to enter the classroom, I noticed Yasurouka standing beside them with a troubled expression on her face. I approached her slowly and tapped on her shoulder lightly. She turned towards me in surprise and looked at me with eyes which were filled with concern.
"Are you alright?" I asked her.
"Not quite." She said, while returning in the direction she was looking in. I followed her gaze and caught a glimpse of a blonde-haired girl standing in front of those three girls. The argument was heated a lot, but I could hear anything except the high-pitched tone of one of the girls shouting at her and the chatter of the surrounding crowd.
"What is happening?" I lowered my head a little and asked in a low voice to Yasurouka.
"I don't know. We were sitting in class and suddenly Uyeno-san barged in and called Koi-san out to talk with her."

"How does talking out turn into this?" I said, putting emphasis on the 'talking out' part.
"I seriously don't know. Before I knew it, Uyeno-san was shouting at Koi-san. I rushed out to see what was happening."
This girl that she is calling Uyeno was from another class and she suddenly came to talk with Kizhashi but it turned into an argument out of the blue? That doesn't fit right with me. Looking at the other two girls standing with Uyeno, I can safely say that they are her friends. If she was here to talk things out, then she wouldn't have brought two of her friends with her. That means she came with the motive to fight Kizhashi.
"Um, those two girls… they are that girl's friend, right?" I still asked Yasurouka to confirm my speculation. I pointed at the girl with dark blue hair, which was tied in a high bun and another girl with short maroon hairs, which had a small ponytail on the left side.
"Yeah, the ones you're talking about are probably Isobe-san and Sakuma-san." She said while trying to stand on her tippie toes and see what was going in the front.
"Let's see what's happening." I grabbed her left arm with my right arm and pushed through the crowd in front of us.
"Wa...wait." She protested, but we were already in the front now. I stepped aside, and she walked in front of me. Now that I had a better view, I could see who this Uyeno girl was.
"Who do you think you are?" She said a rough tone as her long brown hair swayed left to right.
"Listen to me, there has been a misunderstanding." Kizhashi said politely.
"You think getting over someone's boyfriend is just a misunderstanding?"

"No, no… the getting over part… it's not like that." She said,
"Oh please, I have seen a lot of bitches like you." Uyeno started rolling the sleeves of her shirt with a cocky smirk on her face.
"Hey! You should know your limits, Uyeno-san. I'm trying to talk things out here but you…" Kizhashi tried to defend herself and she was interrupted mid sentence.
"Can you just shut the fuck up!" The girl named Isobe attacked. Her sudden outrage startled a lot of the bystanders. Kizhashi's whole body twitched and looked towards her in a sudden shock.
"Yes, we saw with our eyes, how you were clinging to Nishimiya-kun that day." Sakuma supported her.
"Isobe-san, try to listen to her, too. Why would she try to do that when she herself is committed to Gaisen-kun." Yasurouka said from my side. I could clearly tell that she was concerned about Kizhashi.
"I know what type of girl she is." She took a small pause to look at Kizhashi's face amd added, "Fucking slut." Uyeno mumbled the last part quite loudly so that we could hear that.
"What did you say?" Kizhashi asked in a rough tone too. She might go on an offensive mode any moment now.
"She called you a slut, if you couldn't hear it properly for the first time." Sakuma said with a smile that would make anyone want to knock her teeth out of her jaw.
"Uyeno-san, I think you're going beyond your limits. Let's not create a scene here." Yasurouka suggested, moving forward, but I grabbed her hand.
"Otherwise? What are you going to do?" She said while folding the sleeves of her other arm now. She didn't even bother looking at Yasurouka while answering to her.
"Uyeno-san, listen. Why would I try to hit on your boyfriend? I'm already dating Gaisen-kun, and he is the captain of our football team." Kizhashi said.
"Huh!?" Uyeno glared at her.
Yasurouka looked at me with tense eyebrows and I could tell that she was annoyed, but I couldn't let her go between them at that moment.
"Let me go!" She protested. I didn't say anything and kept holding her hand. The more she was struggling to release her hand, the tighter my grip was going.
"What's wrong with you? This is none of your business. Stay out of this." She shouted at me quite loudly that people around us were giving me weird looks.
"Listen, you can't go in right now. Stay put." I pulled her towards me and said to her in a low volume.
"Huh!? What the hell do you mean?" She asked in complete confusion, while looking me in the eye.
I could understand Yasurouka's urge to help her best friend, who was getting publicly humiliated at that moment. Well, if Gaisen was here then he might have interfered too, trying to protect his girlfriend. But for Yasurouka to interfere might do more harm than good to her.
So these three are doing a planned verbal assault on Kizhashi. Looking at how things are developing, if I'm not wrong, this drama is going to escalate right now.
"Kizhashi, I didn't know you were such a whore." Uyeno commented.
"And I didn't know that you are retarded and have a problem understanding simple reasoning." She retorted.
Kizhashi was standing near the door, and Uyeno slowly walked towards her.

Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
