Soul For A Girlfriend? Chapter 29

I noticed Yasurouka leaving the class with Kizashi. I stood up from my chair and followed them while keeping my distance.
"Where are you going?" Yukimura asked me.
"On a stroll." I thought for a moment and added, "Wanna come?"
Following them with someone will cover for my suspicious behavior. So it was a good option to invite Yukimura with me.
"I can't. I have work at my club." He rejected my offer.
Well, it made sense. Since our semester was about to end in about two months and with the start of the new semester, the sports festival will be organised.
Clubs focus on their activities during the mid-sem season since there isn't much academic pressure on the students compared to the end-sem season.
"Alright, no problem." I said, and quickly left the class. I wasted some of my time talking to him.
I looked around and noticed Kizhashi going down the stairs at the far end of the corridor. I couldn't see whether she was with Yasurouka or not.
I hurried down the stairs at the end of the corridor and noticed Yasurouka and Kizhashi going out of the building.
The corridors were crowded since it was lunchtime and I could've easily lost Yasurouka if she was alone. But, Kizhashi's blonde hair was easy to spot.
I got out of the building and the outside was relatively brighter than what it was inside. I squinted my eyes.
Looks like they were heading for the playground. Well, it was weird for them to head for the playground unless they enjoyed playing games or something.
I noticed that both of them stopped as a group of girls approached them and started talking to them. The girls were from another class since I couldn't recognise them.
It seemed like both of them were quite popular in our class and in other classes, too.

I walked ahead of them and waited in the playground. Yasurouka seemed to smile while exchanging words with them.
Also, I don't understand why the contract chooses girls like these. They clearly don't have any problems. Apparently.
Now if there was a girl who looked depressed, then it would've made sense.
Anyway, I was near a wall beside me while waiting for them to arrive. Many people were playing different games. Playground is the only place in school, which is always lively.
I yawned, as I was bored.
"Oi, watch out." I heard someone yell.
I opened my eyes and saw a football flying towards me at a high speed.
I adjusted my neck towards the left a little and heard the loud noise of the ball colliding with the wall where my face was a few moments ago.
I looked at a group of boys in soccer jerseys looking towards me and one of them was jogging towards me. I rolled the ball with my foot and kicked it lightly towards the boy.
He received the ball and apologised to me. Seems one of them shot the ball towards me by mistake.
But it was the soccer club, so he must be here.
"Hey." I called out to the boy who was going back with the ball.
He turned around and looked at me.
"You're the second year team, right?" I asked him, and he nodded.
"Do you know where your captain is right now?"
"Yeah, he is there." He pointed towards the goal post where I could see a boy wearing his shoes.
I walked up to him and greeted him.
"Yo Seifuku-kun, been a long time."
His light brown eyeball moved upward, and a smile formed on his face.
"Sakamaki-kun? Where's your glasses?" He stood up and brushed the back of his pants. I smiled at him.

"Well, I didn't need them so I stopped wearing them."
"Huh? How many fingers am I holding?" He made a victory sign and shook his arms a bit.
"Two."
"Oh, you can see."
"Of course I can." We chuckled.
"I'm going back to the class." He said as he picked up the bag beside him and hung it on his shoulders.
"Yeah." I said that and turned around as a gesture that I was going back to the class too.
We started walking. His black hair was dripping with sweat, so he was drying his hair with a towel from his bag.
"Gaisen, I was just coming to check on you." I heard Kizhashi's voice.
"Koi-san, I was returning to the class." He replied.
"Hi, Seifuku-kun." Yasurouka said.
He smiled at her.
"Aren't you Sakamaki, from our class?" Kizhashi asked, noticing me standing beside Seifuku.
"Yes." I nodded.
"Ah, yes, I forgot to ask you. What were you doing here?" Seifuku asked.
Of course it was a valid question. For a loner like me, coming to the playground is a really weird thing. Because neither do I enjoy interacting with other people nor did I play games.
"Yeah, we haven't talked in a month, so I decided to check if you're doing well or not."
This seemed like an answer which would satisfy them.
"I didn't know you two were friends." Kizhashi said.
Me and Seifuku laughed awkwardly at Kizhashi's comment.
Well, I knew this guy from high school only but used to talk with him since he was a mutual friend of mine with Yukimura. And gradually, our friendship became somewhat good.
But close wouldn't be the term I would use to describe my friendship with him.
"Anyways, let's go." Kizhashi latched onto his arm and started walking.
Yes, he was the guy I was talking about.
Seifuku was dating Kizhashi. Though it has only been like 4-5 months since their relationship started.
I was walking awkwardly behind them while three of them were walking in front of me.
This scene has happened before but with different people.
Kizhashi was walking close to Seifuki while Yasurouka was walking parallel with them. She was smiling, as it seemed like Seifuku was saying something.
Seifuku was actually a really good looking guy. When I say really, I mean it. If a girl was given a choice between Yukimura and Seifuku, I'm pretty sure Yukimura would go home crying.
And he is quite popular too. He was the captain of our soccer team. He is also really polite. In a nutshell, he was the ideal man that every girl wanted.
Seifuku and Kizhashi were like the typical popular couple as they show in rom-com anime.
Yasurouka was indeed friends with them, so I finally found a solid method to approach her. I'm going to use Seifuku as an intermediate to approach her.
And once I become acquainted enough, I can do it on my own.
Seeing how lovey-dovey Seifuku and Kizhashi were, I'm sure Yasurouka was feeling like a third wheel between them.
They were a cute couple. I won't lie.
We returned to the class and the rest of the day went by as nothing interesting happened

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
