Soul For A Girlfriend? Chapter 19

Lilith's POV
What a boring day, even Sakamaki hasn't come back yet. It's a bit late for him considering that loner don't even have friends.
It's been three weeks in the human realm for me and since he got his first target. For me it would've been mere minutes if I was in hell, but time passes differently in the human realm. Three weeks is a long time for humans.
I'm doubting if he was the right person for this contract now. Maybe he is taking his time because he knows how this is going to end.
The target's status deteriorated a few days ago. Her negative energy surged. I don't know what he is thinking.
That brat, I can't even read his mind. It's like he intentionally thinks about other stuff when he is at home. I have to teach him a lesson.
I should check the target's status once more. I hope it didn't degrade any more than this. Because if the negative energy keeps increasing, after a certain threshold it'll be impossible for him to do it.
I was going to my resonance spell to measure the target's energy levels when I heard a loud thud on the main door.
I went to the main door and looked through the peephole as Sakamaki had instructed me. But I couldn't see anyone. I opened the door.
I took off the chain lock and turned the knob, unlocking the door. I pulled it inside and a lifeless body of Sakamaki fell in front of my feet.
What the hell!?
I looked at his half-open eyes staring at me before he lost his sense. What is happening? Did someone beat him? Is he injured?
Wait, I should let him inside first. I picked up his body with my left arm and placed him beside me. Then I closed the door and carried him to his bedroom.
It was like carrying a lifeless corpse. Though I could tell his vitals were all normal, he was knocked out cold.

Though carrying a mere human was not a tough job for me. In terms of strength, we devils are of course superhumanly stronger relative to normal humans.
I laid him on his bed and then thought of a correct course of action. I tried to wake him up. I splashed a bottle of water on his face.
His eyes twitched and he slowly opened them while staring at me with a blank stare. Our gazes met and I smiled at him. Now that he was in his senses.
"So Sakamaki-kun, any new updates on the target?"
"You self-centred bitch, let me get my thoughts straight."
"I saved you and you called me bitch? That's not very nice."
"You just splashed water on my face." It irritated him.
He sat up and loosened his tie with his left hand while he stroked his hairs with his right hand.
He looked at his left arm strangely.
"Is something wrong?"
"Oh wait, why were you knocked out? Did you get beaten?"
"Wait, first tell me, how is it going with the target?"
I had so many questions in my mind that I just rapidly threw them at him. He looked at me with his irritated eyes.
"I'll answer all your questions, Devil-chan." He sighed.
"But first I have something to ask you." He added.
It was weird. He rarely had questions for me. Actually, this was the first time he was asking something from me. I was curious about what it could be.
"Yeah go ahead." I smiled.
He advanced his left arm towards me. "I felt unbearable pain in my arm when I was coming back."
"So?"
"So? Tell me what the fuck that was." He said.
"I don't know, maybe you hurt yourself."
"Are you useless?" He sighed.
How dare he call me useless? I have never been offended by something so true.

"You dare call me useless. I will annihilate your entire city." I said though I wasn't angry. He stared at me.
"I'm not hurt. Neither do I play sports." He said.
"I can tell." We looked at each other.
He wasn't hurt, and he felt unbearable pain in his left arm. Let me check the target's status. I think I know the reason for this pain.
"You're a left-handed person, right?" I asked him, and he nodded.
Evoca, this was my resonance spell. A magic circle formed around my right arm. The red light was illuminating the entire room.
Sakamaki was looking at me in awe. I know he couldn't believe what was going on in front of his eyes.
The spell was successful and I got the results I wanted. The target's negative energy has decreased nearly to zero. In other terms, the vessel was nearly empty now.
"What was that?" He asked.
"A spell."
"No, I mean what does it do?"
"It's a resonance spell. It helps me track the negative energy of the vessels." He stared at me without saying a word.
"Are you surprised?"
"Not much, ever you came, I think nothing can surprise me anymore." He smiled.
This is the first time he has smiled in front of me. Did he lose some screws making her fall for him?
"What?" He asked in his usual tone. Yeah, that's more like the Sakamaki I know. The jerk Sakamaki.
"Yeah, the pain in your arm. Let me see your left arm."
He advanced his arm towards me. I opened the button of his full sleeve shirt and tried rolling the shirt to check his shoulders, but they got stuck near his forearm.
"I can't fold this anymore, take off your shirt." He looked at me in confusion.
"Ara, don't be shy, I have already seen you naked," I said. He was clearly embarrassed.
He stood up and took off his shirt. I examined his shoulder to find the thing I was searching for.
Okaż się
This was another spell that I used to check if he got the insignia from the contract or not and I was right. The red insignia was visible but on the top of his wrist.
This insignia was the proof of the contract accepting the person who was doing the contract. The insignia was red-eye.
In terms of hell, the contract accepted its monkey.
"Why did you make me strip? It was on my wrist." Sakamaki was disappointed.
"Teehee!"
He stared at me for a few seconds and continued asking questions.
"Glowing tattoo? I can't get a tattoo at high school you know." Sakamaki said, looking at me.
"Don't worry, no one can see it. It's only visible on activating that spell."
"And what is this?"
"This is your reward for completing the first task of the contract."
"Reward? Interesting." He glanced at me.
Sakamaki's eyes were always cold and calculating. He tries to read me but gives up pretty quickly when he realized that I'm not a normal person standing in front of him.
"Completing the first task? So that means I passed the contract, right?"
"Not precisely, try a bit more and Tomose will completely fall for you."
"A bit more? Didn't you say this mark was my reward for completing it?"
Shit, this guy always takes everything literally. I stuck in my own web of words. He was staring at me. This guy is weird.
He was wearing his shirt again.
"Well, a bit more? I'll do it next week, don't worry Devil-chan." With that, he left the room and headed for his shower.

Void Breaker
Note: Sadly, this story is currently on hiatus :( Elizabeth Sayler had lost everything in the bombing of Reaver Stadium. Her career, her fame, her power — all of it vanished the moment she lost use of her legs. Now, she's beginning to lose hope of ever healing herself… until her world integrates into the Void. When the apocalypse comes in a flurry of System messages, everyone on earth is given a choice: give up what they value most in themselves, and acquire a path to their heart’s greatest desire. Most would hesitate, but for Liz? She has nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain. Armed with newfound powers in a world teeming with monsters, she’s determined to not only survive, but to somehow break the Void’s endless assault. * * * This is a small note about the portrayal of disability in this story. As much research as I do and as many people as I ask, I will in the end only be able to understand a small portion of paraplegia and similar disabilities. Therefore, if there is anything particularly disrespectful, please do not hesitate to contact me. I always intended to portray disability in a respectful way in this story, but please know that Liz as a character does not start out with a healthy view of disability. This is intentional, and a large part of her character development comes from this view changing as she learns. Disability is not something she simply "discards" at the beginning of the story, but an ongoing theme and a part of her journey.

Naga rising (Final version)
Eshanai used to think that her life was pretty good, that the elders of her tribe of Naga sisters had their best interests at heart. But one suspiciously regular disaster after another sort of makes you question things. So when Eshanai decides to go out on the island to do the unthinkable, break some rules, and nothing terrible happens to her like the elders said it would, her questions start to multiply. What else could the elders be wrong about? Were the Naga really chosen by the spirits? And could there be other people out there, beyond their island? Follow Eshanai and some of her sisters as she tries to find a way to leave the island and comes up with increasingly creative ways to get into a certain Oni's pants. Author's note: This is not a rewrite of my original Naga rising story. It's more of a reimagining, as it contains many of the same characters and settings but will have a completely different plot. Be advised that the two are not related to one another. This should not be seen as any form of sequel or prequel story. So I have caught up to my backlog, and at first, I thought I could release a chapter once a week. That turned out to be unrealistic as I am writing in my spare time, so periods of inaction might not be uncommon. Some of the tags might not come into effect until later on in the story.

The Villain's Double Life
“The Villain’s Double Life as the Hero’s Mentor," “Demon Nobles Want to Live Too: A Hero-Raising Simulator for the Transmigrated Villain," “Just Because I’m a Villain Doesn’t Mean I Want the World to End!” Cyrus Calvide was the second son of an aristocratic lord; haughty, vain and power-hungry. One day, when his ancestral inheritance manifested, he discovered he was able to steal other’s powers and abilities using demonic magic. Taking this as a sign that he was destined to rule over others and become the new king of this land, he poisoned his father, killed his elder brother, and embarked on the path to greatness, taking advantage of a demonic invasion to consolidate power and harvest the abilities of others in a cruel and bloody fashion. Until he was summarily defeated by the Hero as a mid-game boss battle and executed for his crimes, of course. When a dedicated fan of the RPG “Next to Eden” awakened in the body of the cruelest future Count, four years before the beginning of the game, he pledged to live humbly. He would let his brother lead and support the Hero from the shadows to ensure the demon invasion would be defeated and he could enjoy life in peace. Rather, he would have, if he hadn’t gotten the Hero’s mentor killed in a freak monster attack before the Hero’s training could even begin. How was he supposed to live a life of peace and luxury if the Hero couldn’t stop the end of the world!? Donning a mask, Cyrus took up mentoring the Hero himself; how hard could it possibly be? . . . Four years later, the kind jack-of-all-trades hero Leon had become a twisted powerhouse: alienating his party members, clearing enemy encounters in a single magical blast, and coldly ignoring the affections of the girl whose love would have allowed him to clear the final boss. He seemed to have plastered himself to his Master’s side, instead. Cyrus bit back his despair while the hero reached out to grasp his hand. “Please stop ignoring the saint, Leon; you can't beat the Demon King by grinding stats! You need the power of love, remember?” “Don’t worry, Master,” Leon smiled as he traced the lines of Cyrus’s palm gently, almost reverently. “I have all the love I need.” VDL is two parts plot and worldbuilding, one part slow-build gay romance, starring a man far too proud to admit he's in over his head and the hero who loves him. Should be updating weekly.
