Soul For A Girlfriend? Chapter 14

Tomose's POV
"Hey, you Bitch."
Did Yoshiwa just call me a bitch? Out of nowhere?
I looked at her in confusion.
"Yoshiwa-san, wait we don't know if it's true or not." Sakamaki said, standing in the middle of me and Yoshiwa.
"Sakamaki-kun, I don't know this time if you can defend her." Matsushita said.
"What's going on? Can someone explain to me?"
"Drop the act you hag." Sakura said in an indifferent tone.
Everyone was staring at me like I did something. All those eyes were on me. But I didn't do anything.
"I don't understand. What the hell?" I was getting irritated slowly.
"Tomose-san, you-" Sakamaki was saying something but Yoshiwa pushed him aside and snapped at me.
"What? Did you think you could get away with it?"
"With what?" I looked at Matsushita, and Sakamaki to back me up but they were standing silently.
"Tomose-san, I didn't expect this from you." Sakura stood up and turned towards me.
She was clenching what seemed like a piece of paper in her hand. She raised her hand and straightened that paper. She presented it to me.
"Care to explain?" She said.
What the heck is this? Are they all gone nuts?
"What's this?"
"Tomose-san for god' sake, just apologise already. We know, okay." Sakura said in a louder voice.
There were more eyes on me now as she just yelled my name. But I seriously don't know. No one was explaining to me what happened. They are just shouting at me.
I was feeling like crying. I wasn't good with people shouting at me.
"Sakura-san, just give her some time to contemplate," Sakamaki said.
I looked at him with eyes that were on the verge of shedding tears. My throat was twitching. I didn't say a word, or I would just cry at that point.
"Sakura-san, I'm apologising for her. Just give her some time."

"You shouldn't get involved in this Sakamaki-kun. This isn't your place." Matsushita said.
"I know." He closed his mouth and glanced at me.
His eyes.
He never looked at me like that before.
What the fuck did I do?
"Why did you write that letter Tomose-san?" Matsushita asked me.
"What letter? I don't know what you're talking about."
"Tomose-san, that's your handwriting. Please don't lie." Matsushita pointed over the paper that Sakura was clenching.
I squinted my eyes to get a better view, and it indeed looked like my handwriting. But I didn't write it. Why would I?
Why was everyone looking at me like that? I didn't do anything. They are just accusing me of something I don't even know of. But why? And what the fuck is that paper?
Sakamaki's POV
The argument was getting more heated. Tomose was standing near her desk and was staring at her shoes.
That letter seems like Tomose has written it. The handwriting was way too similar to ignore that.
"Listen, it can be anyone's. We can't accuse her like that." I commented.
I wanted to believe that Tomose didn't do it. Tomose wasn't the kind of person who would do something like this.
"Sakamaki-kun, even you know this is futile." Sakura said.
I know the situation Tomose was in depicted her as the sole culprit. There is even evidence proving that it was her. I don't think I can get her out of this pinch.
"Why did you do it? Tomose-san?" Kana asked again, but Tomose didn't respond.
"Tomose-san, I'm asking something." Kana said in a louder voice.
Tomose looked up and it seemed like she snapped. She didn't have that smile anymore that she always plastered on her face. Seems like things will be interesting.
"Why should I answer something which I'm not obligated to?" Her voice was shaking even though she was trying to sound tough.

"Tomose-san, don't be like that. We are just trying to help." Kana tried to calm her down but it was all in vain.
"Yeah, real help you guys have been." she taunted her, a drop of tear escaped her eyes."
The situation was already out of our hand. Yoshiwa's approach was wrong but I wasn't expecting much from her. I knew that the situation would escalate to this point.
And since I had a conversation with Yoshiwa about Tomose, I knew she wasn't going to let this chance slip from her hand to humiliate Tomose in front of the whole class.
"Bitch first you insult Sakura-san with that letter and now you have the audacity to talk to Matsushita-san like that?" Yoshiwa spoke angrily.
"Huh!? I don't know what you're talking about. And you won't believe me so I'm not even going to try," Tomose yelled and her tears were more prominent now.
"If you're real friends, you would've never blamed me for something I didn't do." Tomose finally broke down and started crying.
"Yeah crying won't help you now, Bitch!" Yoshiwa raised her voice.
"Hey, hey, Yoshiwa-san, just chill a bit." Kana said.
"Matsushita-san, you know what she did right? You still think she can cry like this and we will just forget about this?" Sakura said.
Kana was silent now. She was probably confused on whether she should console her crying friend or confront her for what she did.
Sakura got a letter this morning from her shoe locker. It had all these bad things and some of her secrets written on it.
She was confused at first so she showed it to Kana and Yoshiwa. I was passing by their desk when I saw this letter and recognised the handwriting.
I asked her why she was carrying Tomose's letter with her.
Everyone got confused at first but I told them it looked like her handwriting, so I thought it was her.
But later, I found out about this deal as Yoshiwa was explaining to me about it. I was trying to convince her it couldn't be Tomose and she entered the class.
"Matsushita-san, do you believe me?" Tomose asked as tears ran down her cheeks.
Kana stood silently saying nothing. I mean she was a girl with good morals, so I know she won't support Tomose in this. Even though it was all our assumption.
Tomose's eyes met mine. The tears in her hazel eyes almost made them shine. Her hair was messy, as several loose strands were hanging.
"Do you believe me?"
I just narrowed my eyes and gave her a slight smile. Words couldn't form in my mouth.
Tomose picked up her bag, wiped off her tears with her arm and rushed out of the class. Seems like she won't be attending the school today.
"Can you believe her?"
"She is so egoistic that she did all this drama but still didn't apologise." Sakura crumpled the paper and threw it in the dustbin.
Kana was really disappointed. Her face evinced her stress, albeit she did nothing. But seeing the person she called her friend, do something like this affected her in some way.
"Don't worry." I said to her and returned to my desk.
As if saying 'don't worry' would've helped but I didn't had anything better to say to console her.
The rest of the day went by usually. Yukimura missed out on this huge event. Well, I'll talk with him over that game once I get home.
I reached my apartment. I opened the door and met with a very irritated Lilith glaring at me.

Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
