I Am A Prodigy Chapter 401

The car slowly drove forward. Ye Lingchen sat by the window, looking at the scenery outside quietly. For a moment, it was very quiet in the car.
For a variety show, it was bad to have such awkwardness, therefore they needed to generate a topic.
The female crew looked at Ye Lingchen, then asked with a smile, "God Ye, do you know where we're heading?"
"No idea."
"Do you want to know where we're going?"
"Not interested."
…
[Pfft. Hahaha…]
[God Ye is so blunt. The crew's face is messed up now.]
[Crew: How am I supposed to continue this topic? Waiting online. Urgent.]
Although there were not many viewers, the comments were very active. Some of them were in bouts of laughter from Ye Lingchen's bluntness.
The crew member was also aggravated. 'Don't you know that this is a variety show? We need something to talk about!'
She could not help but ask again, "Aren't you afraid that I might sell you off?"
Ye Lingchen was surprised. He looked around in the car, seeing one driver, one crew member, and the cameraman with his camera. "You have someone hidden in ambush? I don't think the few of you would be sufficient."
[Wahahaha, I can't take it anymore. God Ye is trying to kill me with laughter and inherit my Ant Credits.]
[God Ye is good at basketball, and he's also funny. I'm becoming a fan!]
[Ah, did you notice that God Ye seems to look better recently? When I first looked at him, I was surprised. By the second and third look, I'm fully addicted.]
[Previous poster, I have the same feeling. Even if God Ye keeps quiet, I'm happy to look at him all day long in silence.]
[Oh no, the love-struck syndrome has started.]
…
The number of online viewers continued to climb, and the comments were popping out continuously.

The crew member's expression turned dark. She had always thought she was sufficiently experienced. After all, she mingled with celebrities for quite a number of years. Furthermore, most celebrities would pay attention to keeping up appearances, therefore they would speak carefully and were willing to keep up the conversation for the screen.
However, that day, she met Ye Lingchen. 'This person is such a weirdo!'
She really had no way of carrying the conversation with the way he answered.
"Hehe…" The crew member laughed awkwardly, then continued to explore other topics. "God Ye, you're such a good basketball player. You must love basketball right?"
"Not at all," Ye Lingchen replied nonchalantly, then continued, "To be honest, basketball is among my weakest skills."
He was not lying. As of that moment, he had mastered too many skills. He already had over ten basic skills, and there were still intermediate skills as well. Compared to those skills, basketball was nothing.
However, his words were viewed as boastful by others.
[Basketball is his weakest skill? That's too boastful.]
[Shameless. Absolutely shameless! Doesn't he know that he's doing a live stream? He will face backlash from those lies.]
[Maybe God Ye had just only entered the entertainment industry and has yet to understand the rules. With this bragging, he'll lose some fans.]
[It's that woman's fault. What's with all those questions? She should just let us watch God Ye quietly. Must she keep bugging him with all those questions? Such an annoyance!]
…
The crew member obviously did not expect Ye Lingchen to reply that way. For a moment, she regretted asking such a question and dared not ask any further. The car once again fell into silence.
Ye Lingchen took the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet. Although he knew that it was a live stream and he wanted his popularity to grow, he would not intentionally appeal to their likes. He was only answering truthfully. Those that liked him would naturally follow him. Furthermore, when they really understand him later, they will realize that he was not lying.

He would never put up a facade just to gain popularity.
Despite all that, the crew member was surprised when Ye Lingchen's viewer count continued growing. From the comments, one can see that many of them were really satisfied with just watching him quietly.
She unconsciously looked over at him. Right then, Ye Lingchen was looking out of the window, seemingly focused on something with a mysterious glow in his eyes.
To be honest, his body emitted a very attractive aura. It was an aura that made others unwittingly feel like going closer. He emanated the presence of an enlightened expert.
"God Ye, do you enjoy watching the scenery?" She could not help but ask.
"Yes, very much." Ye Lingchen nodded. "I grew up in a farming village, therefore I feel a connection with this type of scenery."
The crew member's eyes brightened. She had finally found the right topic. "Can you tell us more about life in a farming village?"
"Hmm...nevermind." Ye Lingchen gave a surprising reply after a moment.
"Please! Don't be like that. Could it be that you had some bad experiences?" the crew member urged. Following that, she showed the comments from the live stream to Ye Lingchen. "Look, those viewers would like to listen as well. They're very supportive of you. Please tell us."
A hesitant expression came onto Ye Lingchen's face, then he sighed. "If you put it that way, I'll tell you a little about it since you're curious."
Somehow, Ye Lingchen's voice took on a darker tone. The car's temperature seemed to have dropped and the driver felt goosebumps breaking out all over his body. The viewers were caught off guard. They felt that Ye Lingchen was about to tell them something big.
"It was about 10 years ago, when I was still nine years old. In China, we have a saying: Fallen leaves return to their roots. After death, one must return to the ground to rest in peace. Otherwise, your soul will roam as a lost soul. However, transportation was inconvenient back then. If someone died away from home, it was very difficult to transport their corpse back to their hometown. It was both costly and troublesome. With demand, a business naturally rose out of it. That gave rise to a specific job in my village—corpse herding!"
"Corpse herding, just as the name suggests, was to control the movement of the corpses. However, to be accurate, it was more of carrying the corpse. I've seen how the people in my village treat the corpse. They would clean the innards from the corpse, fill it with straw, then proceed to preserve it. After that, they'll carry the corpse and be on their way. Due to the inauspicious nature of corpse herding, they would usually do it late at night to avoid spoiling the moods of others."
"Corpse herding is nothing mysterious. It's just another job for those with financial difficulties. Due to the number of corpse herders in the village, I would occasionally take part due to curiosity. After spending so much time with corpses, it was natural that I would encounter some weird incidents. I still remember it clearly. I was 12 years old then, and it was my first time herding a corpse with my second uncle…"
Ye Lingchen spoke mysteriously, carrying a hint of creepiness in his voice. It made everyone forget what they wanted to say. Meanwhile, the number of viewers in his stream continued to increase…

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★

New characters, new ideas, new plot, everything is completely new. So I hope that goes well and i'll leave this story up as reference for me in the future. Thank you Akani Kizuato. As he ranted, and relieved stress on the school rooftop, he had received an email from an anonymous source saying that he was accepted into some academy, which he had never heard of before.
