I Am A Prodigy Chapter 209

"Old Jiang, are you really that confident in the kid?" Grandmaster Chen could not help but ask.
Grandmaster Jiang nodded and sighed. "If he decides to drop everything, it would be even harder to deal with Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu. I have no idea how many people will die from this sickness if that happens."
"Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu is an unprecedented illness. No one can be cured for sure, and I for one don't believe it anyway!"
Other than them, the families of those patients were also feeling hesitant to move forward.
Time passed slowly and it was already noon. Grandmaster Jiang's forehead was already sweating. Things had already reached such a crucial point, yet there was still no one willing to come forward for treatment.
"Lele, Lele!"
Just then, there was a commotion in the crowd. One of the couples' complexion changed drastically and they yelled at a child in the quarantine area.
The little girl's hair was done in a sheep's horn braid and her entire face was a fiery red. Her eyes began closing and she collapsed onto the ground, slipping into a deep coma.
"Lele!" The child's mother burst into tears. She was pounding helplessly on the glass while wailing.
"Doctors, I beg you! Please save my child!" She looked around and saw Grandmaster Jiang and the others rushing forward immediately. She kneeled on the ground with a loud thump and pleaded, "I'm begging you! Please save her!"
The expressions on Grandmaster Jiang's group was that of bitterness and helplessness.
The little girl's symptoms were the last symptoms of Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu. The virus had invaded her blood and her immune system had reached its breaking point. Once those symptoms manifested, the temperature of the fever would increase abruptly. There was not much time left for her to live.
The doctors were already helpless when it came to ordinary cases of Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu. They were definitely when facing a patient who was already at a critical stage of the disease.

"Grandpa, please save Lele. She's my good friend." Grandmaster Yu's grandson said loudly to Grandmaster Yu. His young and pure voice was full of emotion.
However, Grandmaster Yu was silent.
"Grandpa, have you been lying to me? You can't cure my disease at all." Grandmaster Yu's grandson immediately realized that fact. His face turned pale suddenly, and tears came out of his eyes.
The little boy had probably guessed it for a long time already, but he was simply unwilling to admit it.
"Bring the child out." Grandmaster Jiang sighed. He wanted the girl's parents to be with her during her last moments.
When Lele was taken out by the medical staff, her entire body was extremely hot and she was extremely weak.
"Didn't that miracle doctor say he can cure it just now? We want him to cure her!"
The couple looked at their child and suddenly remembered something. They held the child and ran into the clinic like madmen as if they were grasping at straws.
"Miracle doctor, I beg you to save my child!" They were already crying tearfully. Without saying anything further, they knelt in front of Ye Lingchen and kowtowed.
Grandmaster Jiang and the others followed them into the room. At the same time, many parents looked inside as well.
"Put the child on the bed." Ye Lingchen glanced at the child and said curtly.
"Okay." The couple immediately did as they were told.
Ye Lingchen rolled Lele's eyelids. Only her whites were showing and she was completely unconscious.
His eight silver needles had just been placed in the treatment room's freezer. They were then taken out.
All eight needles were cold-infused.
Ye Lingchen maintained his solemn air and directly pierced the needles into both of Lele's temples!
He continued to rub the silver needle with both hands and slowly inserted them into her temples.
His movements were slow and he did not dare to let himself be distracted.
Lele's sickness was more serious than Xiao Feifei's, not to mention she was more vulnerable as a child.

The couple stared at Ye Lingchen, bit their lips, and dared not make a single peep.
Everyone outside could not help but hold their breath as their heartbeats accelerated. Could it be that...the miracle doctor could really cure Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu?
"Such acupuncture technique..."
Those outside the room were watching things progress while those who were inside scrutinized the technique. When Ye Lingchen used the acupuncture method, the pupils of Grandmaster Chen and the others contracted immediately, revealing their look of surprise.
Such an acupuncture technique was too difficult! Even doctors like them were afraid to try it, and learn it!
Acupuncture was the greatest aspect of Chinese medicine—it could even be called a magical skill!
However, it was far too difficult to be proficient in it!
That was also the main reason for Chinese medicine's decline.
There were too many things to learn about acupuncture. The entire process did not allow for mistakes during and it put a mighty strain on a person's spirit. Ye Lingchen, for example, inserted the needle into the girl's temple. In that kind of place, the slightest deviation or depth could take her life at once!
However, he did it without the slightest hesitation!
As experienced doctors, the other doctors would surely have studied traditional Chinese medicine. They were in awe of such acupuncture skills and were indubitably shocked to see a phenomenon that could only be described as impossible for any ordinary person to learn!
By then, Ye Lingchen's third needle had been inserted!
The place he pierced was Lele's heart!
The final four were all inserted into Lele's foot.
The first two needles protected her head and were used to reduce fever, while the third needle was used to protect her life and the last four were used to resist Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu!
It might look simple, but it was not something anyone could simply do. Inserting those eight needles took half an hour, and even Ye Lingchen felt tired.
The couple finally dared to speak after seeing that Ye Lingchen had stopped. Their voices were hoarse and faltering while their eyes looked at Ye Lingchen. "Mi-miracle doctor, how is my child?"
"Pour me a bowl of water," Ye Lingchen remarked without answering the question.
Without further ado, the mother trotted out at once.
"Miracle Doctor, here's the water!" She hurried back.
"Give your daughter a drink," Ye Lingchen ordered casually.
For her daughter?
Everyone was stunned. They laid their eyes on Lele, and at that moment, they were all petrified. Their mouths were slightly open, and they could hardly believe their own eyes.
Above the hospital bed, Lele's eyelashes twitched slightly, her closed eyes were barely open in a slit. Then, she strained to turn her eyes and look around.
"Mommy, I'm so thirsty, I want to drink water." Upon seeing her mother, the girl cracked a smile and said weakly.
For a moment, the mother's tears flowed like an open floodgate, and she could not control herself anymore. She opened her mouth and nearly choked when she tried to say something. "Here's the water. Let mommy give it to you..."
"She's awake! She's actually awake?!"
"Miracle Doctor, we have a miracle doctor amongst us!"
"No one can wake up once they pass out from Wind-Heat Syndrome Flu. He saved her!"
"Miracle Doctor, please save my child!"
"There's hope! There's hope for our children to have been saved!"
...
The parents outside were instantaneously delirious. There was surprise as well as cries and laughter, with the situation causing an immediate stir.
Many people even rushed in and knelt in front of Ye Lingchen, begging him to save the patients.
"It's too noisy!" Ye Lingchen's brow frowned slightly and he said: "I need absolute quietness to treat the patients, please tell them to stay far away."

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Humans Are Evil (completed)
A world of magic, where empires rise and fall, and where civilization is never safe from the perpetual menace of the monsters that roam the land. In this volatile landscape Fera is reborn and must adapt to this new and ever-changing world. She will grasp at whatever opportunities she finds to escape her unfortunate birth as an orphan. Either excelling, or wallowing in self-pity, Fera will question if this world of magic was as fantastical as she initially thought. Note: The story is technically a litRPG, but much less like a game and more akin to real life, for example obtaining a class does not give free skills to the individual, it’s the other way around! Skills are what unlock your class, so an individual who learns magic skills will unlock mage classes, classes then provide passive buffs and stats, in my opinion this makes everything feel more earned so that the power levels in the world are more natural, rather than every single random person being a powerhouse.
