I Am A Prodigy Chapter 38

"Hahaha, you vermin. Who do you think you are? In front of Young Master Lu, you're just a pile of sh*t. You don't even deserve the chance to lick his boots. Go on, continue showing off, continue your bragging!" Wu Feng barked at him with an ugly expression like a mad dog.
"You're Ye Lingchen right? I've heard of you." Lu Hao was calm and collected, as though everything was well under control. "I've heard you're quite the capable fighter. Why don't you have a little spar with my two underlings?"
As he finished his statement, the two bouncers behind him walked forward.
On them was a murderous aura. They have definitely killed before, and more than one victim at that!
Their intimidating presence made the crowd in the hall take a deep breath.
"Lu Hao, stop this! Ye Lingchen is my friend!" Xiao Feifei berated Lu Hao as she glared at him, her expression darkened.
"You want to beg for mercy in his place?" Lu Hao looked at Xiao Feifei in a teasing manner, the corner of his mouth curled at an angle, "It's not impossible to protect him. I'll give you two options."
He enjoyed this feeling of lording over others, determining their fate with his words.
"What options?" asked Xiao Feifei, biting her lip.
Lu Hao raised his right foot and placed it atop a stool. He then pointed at Ye Lingchen, then ordered in an unquestionable tone, "If he's willing to crawl under my crotch and bark three times like a dog, I'll spare his life!"
"Young Master Lu, that's too generous for someone like him!" groaned Wu Feng unwillingly. His gaze revealed a desire to devour Ye Lingchen1.
Lu Hao raised his hand, signaling for Wu Feng to shut up.
"Feifei, I want you to have a good look and understand that the man you fancy is but a dog in front of me. Not only him, but most of the men in this world are but dogs! No, they're not even comparable to dogs! To have my fancy is your blessings!" Lu Hao exclaimed while looking condescendingly towards all those around him in an utterly arrogant tone.

"What about the second option?" Xiao Feifei asked in a trembling voice.
"Hehe," Lu Hao chuckled, then gathered all the alcohol on the table in front of him.
In a high-class restaurant, alcoholic beverages were well stocked, and they offered quite a varied selection.
Maotai, Le Vin Rouge, Lafite, etc. Both red and white wines were available.
Lu Hao raised the bottles, one by one, mixed all the different varieties into a single glass.
"As long as you drink everything in this glass in one go, I'll let that kid off."
The type of glass he used was huge. The volume of one glass was definitely over a liter.
Furthermore, within the glass was a mix of six different types of drinks with high alcohol content!
Mixed drinks were the easiest way to get drunk.
In truth, putting mixed drinks aside, even with just ordinary white wine, for someone like Xiao Feifei who did not consume alcohol at all, one glass was sufficient to knock her out.
This type of drink, apart from passing out from the alcohol, it was a torture to consume!
"Don't you worry. I have already made a reservation of the presidential suite for you. If you're drunk, I will personally escort you back to your room," Lu Hao snickered while staring at Xiao Feifei.
A man carrying a drunk woman into a hotel room. That act in itself speaks volumes!
The entire hall was deathly still.
Lu Hao was tyrannical. The two options he provided could toy with a person's dignity and make them dance in his palm.
Xiao Feifei's expression was complicated. Within a short time, various thoughts flashed by her. In the end, she put on a resigned smile.
Extending her hand towards the table and lifted the glass!
However, just as she wanted to down the drink, the glass was snatched away by Ye Linghen.
Xiao Feifei gave Ye Lingchen a weird look, "Lingchen, you…"
"Don't worry, it'll be fine." Ye Lingchen's expression remained stoic as he calmly consoled her.
"Mm?"
Lu Hao looked at Ye Lingchen as he would observe some ants. He raised his head arrogantly, "It seems you have taken the first option. Come, crawl away!"

His every word as though a matter of fact, expecting others to obey his every whim.
From start to end, he did not think much of Ye Lingchen.
Some people were born prestigious. Right at birth, they were already on the finishing line that many could only dream of.
Some, however, would live to be a nobody for their entire life, always just a lowly peasant.
Ye Lingchen was obviously the latter.
He did not need to consider Ye Lingchen's feelings because he could easily decide his fate!
"You vermin, to be able to crawl under Young Master Lu's crotch is your honor. You would bring honor to your ancestors!" Wu Feng laughed at him contemptuously.
"Only these two options?" Ye Lingchen's face expressionless, "Is there, not a third option?"
"Absolutely not!"
Lu Hao guffawed, "For me to grant you two options is already showing you my utmost generosity. How dare you ask for more? Stop wasting my time. It pains me to waste my time with a lowly plebeian like you. If you anger me, I don't mind sending you to heaven!"
Ye Lingchen stared at Lu Hao in his arrogance, then shook his head, "I think there's still a third option."
"Oh?" Lu Hao's face turned gloomy, "Do tell."
"Discipline you."
"What?"
Lu Hao thought his ears were playing tricks on him.
"Let me leave, or be ready to face my wrath," mentioned Ye Lingchen casually.
"I will face your wrath? Hahaha…" Lu Hao laughed to the point of tearing, as though he had just heard the best joke of all times. Many in the crowd also started joining his laugh.
"Asking for death! This kid is asking for death!"
"I think he must have gone crazy under great pressure from Young Master Lu."
"Sigh, even Han Xin 1endured his shame for crawling under someone's crotch. This kid lacks a proper temperament."
Wu Feng was all the more excited, trying hard to keep himself from bursting out in laughter, "The heavens are helping me! This kid is a moron! Instead of treasuring his chance at life, he had to light up toilet—looking for shit (death)1!"
"Good, very good! You have successfully worn out my patience."
Lu Hao laughed for some time, then threw an icy glare at Ye Lingchen, "However, considering how you managed to entertain me so much before your death, I'll grant you a quick painless death."
Having said that, the European hunk and the Southeast Asian both slowly walked up towards Ye Lingchen.
Xiao Feifei's face was drained of color. Her entire body was trembling from fear.
Ye Lingchen gave her a reassuring look, then started moving forward.
He kept his gaze looking forward, keeping his eyes low. His hands behind him, looking cooly at the two, then spoke, "Both of you, come at me together!"
"F*ck! What's this? Showing off?"
"I didn't expect this loser to dream of being the king of braggarts! Even before death, he has to brag!"
"Oh, I'm dying of laughter. Could it be that this kid thinks he's some great master? Or is this cosplay for him?"
The European hunk exchanged gazes with the Southeast Asian, their eyes overflowing with rage.
The European hunk bumped his fists together, then punched directly at Ye Lingchen's head.
The Southeast Asian instead twirled a dagger in his hand, then struck out suddenly like a venomous snake towards Ye Lingchen's kidneys!
Top and bottom.
One with brute force, one devious.
Both working in harmony, making the perfect attack.
In raw the name given here was 蘇宇 (Su Yu), but we suspect that it was a typo as Wu Feng's beef has always been with Ye Lingchen all these while. Whether it be Su Yu or Ye Lingchen, we'll let you decide for yourself.Han Xin was a famous Chinese military general in the past, who was later bestowed the title King of Chu and King of Qi. He was once humiliated by a butcher to have him crawl under the butcher's crotch, showing his cowardice to the public. He complied, deciding that it was more important that he accepted the humiliation so that he could make greater achievements in the future. This part is a pun by the author. 屎 (shi) and 死 (si) are used for their similar pronunciation in the pun.

Dungeons Are Bad Business
Vee Vales has been kicked out of his home and directed to make his own way in the world. Along with his friend Alforde Armorsoul, Vee travels to the city of Oar's Crest. Once a prosperous and well-to-do city, Oar's Crest has fallen into depression and disrepair. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

This is my first story to ever be posted. As I am an amateur writer, there shall be mistakes. More so with the fact that English is not my first language. This story is a re-write, and its original version was a request by a dear friend of mine. Though hopefully this version would be far better.. As the original version was a very cringe worthy thing. Many thanks to certain friends that have convinced me to post this. I shall do my best to at least update frequently, without sacrificing the.. quality of chapters. Tags will be added as the story goes on. || Disclaimer: Much of the chapters before Chapter Twelve are of poorer quality in terms of Grammar. So do forgive me for them, by Chapter Twelve and beyond however, the quality of the chapters should have had improved. I'm hopefully gonna fix most of the earlier chapters when I hit Chapter Twenty or Thirty.

Giantslayer
Synopsis: Alain is a fledgling Giantslayer, enhanced individuals capable of killing deadly giants. But these giants are not big, they are what ancient humans would refer to as mundane animals or beasts. 'The Final Curse' as many humans call it, was a curse that shrunk down the entire human population to the size of small rodents. When the curse first occurred, the majority of the human population was eaten by beasts who are now of towering heights and sizes. But their abandoned gargantuan structures were not built for naught, the remaining humans retreated back into their now giant buildings and rebuild societies and nations inside of them. Follow Alain in his quest to right the wrongs done to his past and hunt down the elusive and mythical Elder Giants, giants capable of intellects and speech. Are they real? Alain certainly insists so despite no one believing him. But perhaps it did not matter, they were real enough to him for what they did to his family. A/N: I'm pretty new to writing creatively so I hope to improve as we move along the story. The prose I use is still fairly simple and 'plain', but I am also new to literature in general so I am hoping to improve my vocabulary as well. It should also come under no surprise that I am a non-native English speaker and writer as well. With that said, I do appreciate constructive feedback. Please don't be overly mean at least. All the chapters are rough drafts that will be edited in the future. The cover is by this user from pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/4545042

Fade
The story follows the life of John Grimshaw. From tragic beginnings to hopeful ends, John embarks on a quest for meaning. When visiting the cemetery he meets a girl named Jennifer Stone, a youthful teenager who quickly becomes a safety raft for John in turbulent times. But nothing could have prepared John for when he met the man in the pinstripe suit. The man with bright eyes, dark skin, and gleaming white teeth. The man claiming to the impossible and break the thin ice below John's feet entirely. (ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER) This story starts off relatively dark. Those who dislike subject material surrounding loss, depression, grief, should probably not read. With that said, the story evolves into a supernatural thriller past the initial chapters. It’s a comparably low fantasy for a website like this but hope some of you still enjoy it.
