Divine Emperor Of Death Chapter 586

According to Claire, her husband Logan was someone who could've become the strongest person in the Grand Sea Continent and she could attest to that fact without falsifying or being biased.
However, since they had concentrated on the Empire's affairs and their children, the increase in their cultivation slowed down until Davis left for the First Layer while they started to fight for petty things.
"Take me out..." Claire suddenly said.
Logan became stunned. His wife who was intent on increasing her cultivation so that she could see her father sooner was asking him to take her out?
Was he hearing things?
"Let's go out and sightsee this city!" Claire smiled a little.
"Are you sure?" Logan couldn't help but ask. He did indeed feel a little constricted here but he understood his weakness better than anyone.
But as they were as long as in the city and didn't head far out, trouble wouldn't possibly follow them, right?
"Mhm... It's important to not be hasty! Even though we got Mid-Level Spirit Stones from our son, the increase in our Essence Gathering Cultivation cannot be hastened, however, if we were to hasten, it would be precisely creating problems for us in the future."
'Of course, she has a point! But hadn't she disregarded the problems all this while to hasten the meet with her father?' Logan became confused.
Nevertheless, he didn't say much about her change in the decision and said, "Alright, but what if some people target us with the intent of wanting to know the Conferred Queen's background? We can't possibly exit the entrance which is probably under the scrutiny of the entire city, right?"
Claire blinked which clearly said that she forgot to consider this point.
Logan couldn't help but chuckle at her. He couldn't determine if it was her naive character or her forthrightness that made her forget a few important things.
"No wonder you got ambushed by those weaklings in the secret entrance."

"You!" Claire went beat red but her lips became sealed by his in the next moment, her eyes widening in astonishment.
Logan moved back and slammed his lips as if relishing the taste, "Perhaps we can sightsee later..."
Claire's astonished expression only lasted for a moment before her eyes glazed as her meek voice echoed, "Do as you wish..."
======
The next day, Davis and Evelynn left the through the upper gates that led to the second level of the city from the outside, hence they didn't need to specifically make their way to the first level for them to exit.
Nevertheless, none of the people who had eyes on the entrance noticed him or Evelynn leave because he had used Dark Concealing Shroud Art to escape their watchful eyes.
Once he and Evelynn got to the gates, he didn't dispel Dark Concealing Shroud Art because people had no need or were obligated to report for what matter they were leaving the city for...
The upper gates weren't closed at all unless there was an emergency, hence Davis and Evelynn easily left the city. Besides, Seventh Stage Experts weren't people who could be easily stopped and scrutinized, and doing so is a matter of face....
The fact that the gate is open at all times also tells the fact that the Empire could've been once under pressure from the mid strata filled with Seventh Stage Experts...
Once Davis and Evelynn gained enough distance from the city, he let out the construct from the spatial ring he had used before even he had ferried the entire entourage to the Ethren Empire in the skies. The flying boat appeared and they boarded it and left towards the Sunsi Kingdom.
The territory they were traveling was within the Ethren Empire, they encountered absolutely no obstruction. There were no signs of Magical Beasts attacking them or bandits suddenly ambushing them.
There was even a sky pathway that had been paved through like a roadway by placing waypoints. Davis simply flew in the sky pathway and passed by a lot of cities and the Sunsi Kingdom, which also had a lot of frontier cities, facing the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain.

Perhaps this was the main reason they weren't attacked since they were traveling in an official sky pathway.
They traveled for over 20,000 kilometers from the Ethren Empire's Capital and it took them about twelve hours to eventually arrive at the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain.
When Davis and Evelynn stood on the deck of the flying boat which was at the elevation of a single kilometer and saw the enormous mountains that stretched to the skies in front of them, they became absolutely shocked.
In fact, 5,000 kilometers away from the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain, they could already see its faint silhouette and besides they had left in the morning, so when they reached this place it was already sunset.
The moment they witnessed the sunset illuminating the enormous mountains that completely covered up their view, stretching to the horizons, tears welled up within their eyes along with a sense of sadness.
This feeling suddenly dawned on them for no reason.
Evelynn started to let her tears flow out of her mositened eyes without knowing why she felt sad while Davis could withstand the sudden intrusion of the sense of sadness welling up within him. His heart definitely did not feel great but with his powerful soul curbing the mysterious intent, he didn't cry.
He wiped Evelynn's tears with his thumb finger, "Don't look anymore..."
Evelynn closed her eyes as he said and the sadness within her disappeared as it never existed in the first place.
Davis then looked below and saw that there was a fortified small town that had people regularly walk in and go out. It was in the area in which before the mountains elevated the ground, surrounded by a few huge trees that were at least 500 meters in height.
The flying boat disappeared in midair and the empty space that was formed suddenly was filled in with windy air, making their robes flutter heavily as it gave a picturesque feel to the ones who were watching them from the town.
Davis and Evelynn descended to the ground and entered the gates of the fortified town after paying the toll which was 100 Low-Level Spirit Stones each.
There was even a banner hung up before the gates that said 5% of the spoils gained over by the mercenaries and other people should be handed over to the Sunsi Kingdom. However, these were all for people who were below King Grade.
Unfortunately, it included Davis as well. Nevertheless, there was an alternative to this unscrupulous tax.
Hence, not wanting to face trouble, he invested 10,000 Low-Level Spirit Stones and bought the exemption token which would exempt him from the checking that people would face after leaving from the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain.
This was also the reason he had visited this fortified town because there was a huge King Grade Detection Formation cast in a single line before the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain. It detects those who intruded upon the Magical Beast Territory but also detects the Magical Beasts that would try to enter the human territory!
Hence, the fortified town also had a Seventh Stage Cultivator who is in charge to take care of the situation in this place. If he couldn't handle it or if that cultivator ends up dead, there is a chance that an Eighth Stage Expert might show up here in half a day to take the helm and resolve any problem!
Paying up 10,000 Spirit Stones to avoid trouble that could attract an Eighth Stage Expert... Davis saw this as an absolute win!

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
