The Scum Is A Chapter 389

Their faces instantly paled when they realized that today's event isn't a wedding feast, but actually a feast for their death! The public execution is just Shang He's and Meng Gui's demonstration of their power!
"I – I – I don't want to die!" one of them said as he trembled from head to feet. Before any of them could react, that person already fled.
With one example, how can others not follow? So, two or three more of them ran away.
The spell caster sighed. "Idiots." He muttered as he rolled his eyes. The reason why he has survived from that 'poison' that Meng Gui mixed with the foods in today's feast is because of Ma Wen.
Ma Wen, as an old cunning fox, naturally is overly cautious by nature. That's why he is still alive until today. If he isn't, he would've already died in the Plum Blossom City that day, and only Shang He and Meng Gui would remain alive out of the four demonic leaders since Ma Wen has worse physique than Shang He and Meng Gui, so Ma Wen would definitely not able to escape the Plum Blossom City if he had gone to that place that day. Thus, with his meticulous planning, only Shang He and Meng Gui came to Plum Blossom City. It is such a pity that those two are very tenacious, so they survived.
Before Ma Wen sent them here, he had them eat a Transforming Pill. They almost died during the process of transforming. Their bones… their insides… as well as their skin. Well, some of them really died. It was only them who were left. Half of them was sent to the Drunken Moon City, while the remaining half was sent to the Fire Dragon City of Shang He.
The spell caster's face looked pensive. He never knew how Meng Gui managed to expose some of them.
"Leader! Some people are trying to escape!" Meng Gui's subordinates cried when they saw that some people suddenly ran and ran after those who tried to escape.
Those who ran away are guilty, or have a guilty conscience! This has always been the truth!
"Catch them! If you can't, then kill them from the distance!" Meng Gui decisively said as he killed the last person of Ma Wen's people that they had caught through 'poisoning'.

THUD. That person's headless corpse collapsed on the ground. The crowd was spooked by the sound and they trembled in fear.
"This noon, another meal will be given." Meng Gui spoke. "Since all the culprits have been caught, nothing will be added to the meals that will be given for this noon." He said and meaningfully eyed the area where those people that tried to escape came from. He retrieved his gaze.
The person standing beside the spell caster sneered. "This Meng Gui is f*cking arrogant!" he said. "He has captured us all?! Hahahaha! So stupid! Just this and he's so arrogant!" he laughed, but out of anger. His clenched fists on his side gave away his emotions. "Hey. They said they will stop giving us the 'poison'." He smiled in irritation.
"Do you think you should believe their words?" the spell caster asked.
The person sneered. "As if!" he said. "Let's see how they will expose ourselves then!" he glared at Meng Gui who is still speaking on the platform.
"May you have a warm and hearty meal." Meng Gui comforted the citizens of the Drunken Moon City before he walked towards Shang He who rose from the seat to embrace him.
The crowd's worries immediately shifted when they saw how loving the couple and they were finally convinced that the two are really lovers. From enemies… they became sweethearts. It was a very moving sight, if not for the row of headless corpses and scrambled heads that soaked the ground red beneath the platform.
…
"Xiao Huan, as you've guessed, has never killed nor harmed anyone, except for one person." xiao San started. "He grew up with his grandmother after his parents and siblings died when a group of thieves robbed them. He was very young, then, and his mother hid him in a burrow so that the thieves won't find him. Later, a neighbor sent him to his grandmother's house in another village." He said. "Because he was plagued by nightmares, his grandmother taught him some 'spells' to dispel his fear and for him to not be visited by nightmares. Who knows…" he wryly smiled.
"He has a talent for spells?" Fei Yin said.
Xiao San nodded.
"Then, the person he has killed…" Wu Yuan frowned.
"It's not his grandmother." xiao San dispelled their guess. "It was that neighbor who sent him to his grandmother." He told them.

Fei Yin and Wu Yuan were surprised.
"A person who is unaccountably solicitous is hiding evil intentions." Cheng Sheng spoke.
They turned to him.
"Older people tend to plant crops in their garden since they can't work anymore for other people in exchange money to buy food, or in exchange of food. Thus, they can only make the food themselves." Cheng Sheng explained. "A whole family was killed, but this neighbor was unharmed… don't you think it's suspicious?" he asked.
Xiao San smiled. He appreciates Cheng Sheng more and more. "You are right. The neighbor is also a thief." He said.
Fei Yin and Wu Yuan turned to look at him.
"They have been eyeing xiao Huan's family because xiao Huan's family is living in a better condition than any other families around." xiao San said. "They robbed everything of them – from wealth to resources (food). Then, they killed them." He sighed in pity.
"If xiao Huan's mother hid xiao Huan, how did this neighbor find him?" Wu Yuan asked.
"It's not as if the thieves only want to plunder xiao Huan's family." xiao San said.
They fell silent. Thieves are thieves, no matter where and when.
"Xiao Huan was found by this neighbor unconscious in a burrow when they were about to harvest the crops of another family." xiao San continued. "He thought it was a rabbit, but then discovered that it was actually a child. He remembered that an old woman once visited xiao Huan's family, so he acted as a kind neighbor and sent xiao Huan to his grandmother's house, whom their group are also eyeing." He explained.
Heilong Realm is not a place for kind people. Instead, once you erred, your life could be lost. Your kindness can be exchanged with kindness if you are lucky. But, if you are unlucky, then your life is the cost.
"That day, it was this two-faced neighbor that went to the house of xiao Huan's grandmother to sound them out. Who knew…" xiao San wretchedly smiled.
Cheng Sheng, Fei Yin and Wu Yuan suddenly chilled when they saw his smile. They thought that xiao San is an honest man. They should've known better. He's a demonic cultivator, and this is the Heilong Realm. Where can they find a corner of goodness?
Xiao San ignored their gazes on him. "Xiao Huan happened to wake up." He continued. "He had just gotten out of his nightmare when he saw a stranger in the house. Startled, and recalled what happened to his family, he stammered out the 'spell' his grandmother taught him and unintentionally killed the stranger who turned out to be the neighbor who 'kindly' sent him to his grandmother." He said. "Xiao Huan became delirious at that time, and then fainted. His grandmother arrived and saw the 'neighbor' whom she has been suspicious of. She silently disposed the 'neighbor's corpse. The other thieves saw everything. They may be bold but they are cowards." He snickered. "They saw xiao Huan used a spell, and even saw the grandmother disposed the corpse like she was long used to it. They got scared, and then left." He laughed.
Cheng Sheng, Fei Yin and Wu Yuan are speechless.
"When we passed by, the grandmother noticed us cultivators." xiao San spoke. "She then gave us xiao Huan to teach xiao Huan how to use his talent. But, how can we leave an old lady alone?" he asked. Then, he pointed a restaurant. "That's her." He said.
Cheng Sheng, Fei Yin and Wu Yuan turned to see an old lady who looked short but is vigorous. Then, they saw xiao Huan ran towards her and hugged her tight. The old lady smiled and patted xiao Huan's head.
"Everyone who wanted to work, we give them some work." xiao San said. "Some old people wanted to spend their remaining days in comfort and peace. But, xiao Huan's grandma isn't the same." He shook his head. "The old lady said, she already lost so much leaving her alone in life. She doesn't want to wallow in pain and reminisce the past that will just make her feel lonelier. So, she wanted to work to shift her attention." He explained.
Cheng Sheng, Fei Yin and Wu Yuan nodded in understanding. They felt awe towards this old lady that looked like would be beaten by the wind when it blew, but actually remained standing firm.
