Chapter 1241: The King of the Sinister Devils
After An Lin leaped into the green lake, he began to delve deeper and deeper.
The dark, corrosive power posed no threat to him as the barrier of vital energy he materialized around his body kept it at bay.
There was a faint light within the lake water that seemed to be emanating from the lakebed.
Thus, An Lin continued toward the source of the light!
After diving to a depth of over a kilometer.
The weeping of ghosts and monsters sounded from around him, and their voices seemed to be imbued with pain, despair, depravity, and all sorts of negative emotions. At the same time, a power that threatened to freeze An Lin’s soul constantly invaded his body.
An Lin harrumphed coldly, and the peerless power of his consciousness instantly erupted forth, destroying all of the power sweeping toward him in the most brutal way possible.
He steamrolled all the way down until he reached the lakebed.
At the center of the lakebed was a platform, upon which a green bead lay.
An extremely special power emanated from the bead, and that power was slowly changing the composition of the lake water.
Divine Inspection Technique!
[Sky Sealing Dark King Bead: Collect all nine beads the Sky Sealing Dark King distributed within this world, and you will have a chance to inherit the Sky Sealing Dark King’s true inheritance from the Dark King Palace.]
A smile immediately appeared on An Lin’s face upon seeing this.
He had secured the seventh Dark Bead!
There was an extremely intricate spell formation around the Dark Bead, which would be impossible for a normal Return to Void Stage mighty figure to break open, but it was a piece of cake for An Lin with his Divine Inspection Technique.
Boom!
An Lin flicked a finger, and the spell formation was violently broken, sending all of the lake water into a frenzy.
Beside the lake, Little Xie and Da Bai both knew that An Lin was finally going to stir up some trouble.
It was also at this moment that an enraged roar erupted in the extremely far distance.
“Who dares to encroach upon my bathing lake?!”

Boom boom boom…
Terrifying shockwaves swept through the air.
A man in a green imperial robe made his way over to them, seemingly walking quite slowly, but he was actually traveling extremely quickly.
This was a tall man who stood straight as an arrow with angular, handsome features. A dark green light flashed from his inky-black eyes, exuding a forbidding sense of ferocity.
What was most noteworthy about him was that both his hands were twisted and inky black, and any movements he made with them made the space around him tremor and screech.
“Who are you? Woof!” Da Bai instantly focused his attention on the man in the green robe.
“Who am I?” The man raised his head with a cold smile on his face. “I am the king of the sinister devils, Dong Yang.”
Da Bai stared blankly at the man with astonishment on his face. “You’re the king of the sinister devils? That’s impossible! You’re clearly a human, woof!”
Weren’t sinister devils all supposed to be extremely crazy demonic monsters with twisted, inky-black bodies? How could this man, who was exuding the aura of a human, be a sinister devil?
Dong Yang shot a cold glance at Da Bai and seemingly couldn’t be bothered making any explanations. Instead, he turned toward the green lake with an enraged expression. “Anyone who dares to encroach upon my bathing lake must die!”
Da Bai continued to stare blankly at Dong Yang.
Using such terrifying and disgusting lake water as bathing water?
This man really wasn’t human!
Dong Yang stepped forward as he charged quickly toward the lake.
Right at this moment, a boundless inky-black sword intent slashed toward Dong Yang with devastating power!
The sword formation Little Xie had set up in advance had finally been activated.
“You want to try and stop me? Then you can die as well!” Dong Yang’s twisted, black hands met the sword intent surging from the sword formation as if they were a pair of the most resolute weapons.
Boom boom boom!
Energy exploded, and the sword intent that was powerful enough to slice apart Return to Void Stage sinister devils was crushed by his hands. Dong Yang was like a human tank as he crashed into Little Xie’s sword formation.

Little Xie’s eyes lit up with battle intent. This opponent was extremely powerful, and he was exactly the person she was looking for!
She slashed her Evil-Slaying Sword toward Dong Yang with no hesitation.
“Piss off!” Dong Yang launched his twisted, black hands toward Little Xie with a disdainful expression. His palms were imbued with devastating destructive power, and they howled through the air like a dragon with sufficient force to annihilate a Return to Void Stage opponent into nothingness.
However, to his surprise, an inky-black sword projection pierced through his palm projections with an overwhelming force before striking his twisted, black hands.
A tearing sensation swept toward Dong Yang.
“Don’t underestimate me! I am the king of this entire Abyss of Evil!”
Dong Yang roared with rage as a brilliant green light erupted from his eyes. An aura of depravity and destruction converged in his hands, combating the inky-black blade of the sword in a frenzy.
Boom!
Energy exploded.
Little Xie’s petite body was knocked back several hundred meters!
Dong Yang remained standing on the spot as he appraised the little girl in the distance, who seemed to be even more excited than before. His hands trembled slightly as waves of shock surged through his heart.
He had used his essential power in that strike! However, the little girl was only knocked flying from their clash. She didn’t even appear to have sustained any injuries!
“Who the hell are you?!”
Little Xie was too powerful for Dong Yang to treat with complacency.
His voice had only just fallen when a massive splash appeared over the surface of the green lake.
An Lin emerged from the lake water with elation on his face. “I’ve got the seventh Dark Bead! Huh? Who are you?”
Dong Yang glowered at An Lin. “I am the king of the sinister devils, Dong Yang! You impudent bastard, how dare you steal my Dark Bead? Hand it over now, and I’ll grant you a quicker death!”
An Lin was not enraged by his words. Instead, his eyes suddenly lit up. “So, you’re the king of the sinister devils? That means you still have another Dark Bead!”
Dong Yang’s eyes were burning with rage. “I do have one! So what? You want to steal it? What an arrogant, cocky bastard! I changed my mind, I’m going to extract your soul and torture it for ten million years!”
“I’m not stealing anything. The Dark Beads have always belonged to the Sky Sealing Dark King. I just want to return them to their rightful owner…” An Lin spoke with a composed smile.
If he were up against a normal sinister devil, which was just a demonic monster manifested from boundless negative emotions, he would not be bothered talking so much.
However, this king of sinister devils, Dong Yang, looked so much like a human that An Lin felt obligated to at least communicate with it for a little bit.
“What a load of bullsh*t! I AM the rightful owner of these beads!”
Dong Yang roared as twisted, black wings of several thousand feet in wingspan extended behind him.
The black wings flapped, and destructive evil winds swept through the air for several dozen kilometers. In this dire situation, Da Bai activated his life-saving treasure, but he was still knocked flying by the terrifying shockwaves unleashed by those massive wings.
An Lin cracked his knuckles with a smile on his face. “I like violent people like you. It gives me more satisfaction to bash you!”
Dong Yang’s entire body began to bulge as a dark green divine light erupted forth from his skin.
Heaven and earth suddenly transformed in that instant. Blood began to seep out from the ground below while a series of twisted, malicious faces appeared overhead. All of them looked down at An Lin with hatred and resentment as the anguished roars of countless living beings erupted.
An Lin felt like his consciousness was being attacked and contaminated in this environment!
This was a very peculiar power.
It was the sinister devil’s power of the divine dao!
An Lin adopted a serious expression as he prepared himself to attack.
However, Little Xie positioned herself before him as she looked at Dong Yang with a scorching light in her eyes. “You go stand off to the side. Dong Yang is my prey!”

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
