Chapter 916: Crime and Punishment
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
Arms and legs flew into the sky as blood rained down.
Countless bystanders stared blankly at these incredible scenes unfolding before their eyes.
“How dare you? Release my disciple at once!” Gongsun Ji had finally snapped, and he roared as he pounced toward An Lin.
A golden light encapsulated An Lin’s left fist and the insignia of the golden lotus appeared on his forehead as he activated his Earth Lotus Supreme Skill. Just one punch was enough to knock Gongsun Ji, who was at the Soul Formation Pinnacle Stage, into the distance with severe injuries.
“Duan Yong, if you can admit in a loud voice what you did all those years ago, I can consider sparing your life.” An Lin glared down at the man under his foot.
A bitter smile appeared on Duan Yong’s face. “How can I admit to something that I haven’t done?”
“Oh.” An Lin nodded as another black projection swept through the air.
Duan Yong let loose another bloodcurdling cry as his dick flew into the air.
Gasp… All of the spectating male cultivators felt a frosty breeze between their legs while some of the female cultivators present averted their eyes.
“That sword strike was for Kong Zuili,” An Lin said in a flat, expressionless voice.
Duan Yong’s body trembled with pain, and his features were extremely pale as blood flowed from the new wound on his lower body.
An Lin slashed another sword strike, and a white light transformed into a peerlessly sharp sword intent that penetrated the man’s body and destroyed all of his meridians!
“Ah…!” Duan Yong let loose another bloodcurdling cry.
Boom!
Heaven and earth suddenly began to tremor violently.
A huge spell formation appeared, from which terrifying power burst forth.
“An Lin! You are the sect leader of the Four Nine Immortal Sect! How dare you attack our new sect leader without any evidence! I’m going to need an explanation from you!” The old sect leader, Gongsun Ji, roared as he activated the sect protection spell formation.
“My Myriad Sword Sun Slaying Formation was created by Zhen Yang The Enlightened, it can…”
Boom!
A red nail pierced through the air. The formation hadn’t even completely taken shape before it was instantly shattered by the red nail.
Gongsun Ji: “…”
An Lin didn’t even raise his head as he stomped down onto Duan Yong’s chest, upon which the sound of bones being cracked erupted. “Next, I’m going to destroy your dao foundation so that you can never cultivate again.”
The sect protection formation had been destroyed, and they had nothing left.

A hint of horror finally appeared on Duan Yong’s face.
A smile suddenly appeared on An Lin’s face. “You still have a chance if you want to live…”
“What… What do I have to do?” Duan Yong really was scared now as he asked through gritted teeth.
“Admit to what you did and give me a list of people who also knew about this. Then, all of you have to go and kneel before the graves of Kong Zuixiang as well as her family. If you do that, I will swear on my name as the sect leader of the Four Nine Immortal Sect that I will let bygones be bygones!” An Lin replied.
Duan Yong’s body trembled upon hearing this. Kong Zuixiang had died? So that was how An Lin came to know about all this?
An Lin shouldn’t have been very familiar with Kong Zuixiang, and the Four Nine Immortal Sect was a super sect that could compare to even the Nine Imperials. A vow made in the name of his sect should be one he wouldn’t go back on.
But if he did admit to everything… then that would really be it for his reputation.
“An Lin… Are you telling the truth?” F*ck reputation! Living on was the most important thing! Duan Yong knew that if he didn’t choose now, he would be dead in seconds.
“Of course it’s the truth, but you better tell the truth as well.” An Lin pulled out his Vermilion Bird Mirror and said, “My mirror is a perfect polygraph, and if you dare to tell even one lie, I’ll kill you!”
A conflicted expression appeared on Duan Yong’s face, but he nodded in the end. “Alright. On the Tai Chu Epoch Year 8578, 5th month, 11th day, I did kill Kong Yucheng along with twenty-eight members of his family. Yes, none of his family members were involved with demonic sects, but what I was doing was to wipe them out at the roots to prevent any of them from exacting revenge or going down the same path!”
“Continue,” An Lin urged.
“Yes, I was overcome by my sexual urges and raped a woman before killing her. This was something that I had done wrong, and I will repent for it!” Duan Yong hung his head.
All of the spectating cultivators erupted into chatter again as they turned incredulous eyes toward Duan Yong. They were unable to believe that such a man of justice would have committed such a heinous crime.
Everyone from the Xuan Qing Sect stared blankly at their new sect leader as their mouths gaped open.

“Who else knows about this?” An Lin continued in his interrogation.
Duan Yong pointed to several of the sect elders with his chin. “They knew that I killed Kong Yucheng’s entire family.”
After a moment, he pointed to another elderly man with his chin. “He knew… about everything I did.”
Everyone fell into a peculiar silence.
An Lin couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
The elderly man Duan Yong had pointed to was none other than the old sect leader of the Xuan Qing Sect, Gongsun Ji.
Countless cultivators fell silent. Never would they have thought that the two sect leaders of the Xuan Qing Sect would be people like this.
“What a hypocritical sect leader! You sure hid yourself quite well, I almost missed you!” An Lin took a deep breath.
Gongsun Ji’s eyes widened. “Bullsh*t! Our Xuan Qing Sect has stood for thousands of years, serving as a beacon of justice and revered by countless people! How could something like that have happened! Duan Yong, how could you invent such shameful lies just for a chance to live?”
“Silence!” An Lin roared.
He extended a palm toward him from a distance, and a huge palm of vital energy pressed his body firmly into the ground.
The fact that the Vermilion Bird Mirror had remained silent told him all that he needed to know.
Boom boom boom!
Bolts of Golden Void Lightning tore through the air before landing on the bodies of the elders who had been identified.
A series of bloodcurdling cries erupted as all of the elders were reduced to charcoal.
They were just normal Soul Formation Stage cultivators, so how were they supposed to defend themselves against An Lin?
“You… An Lin, didn’t you swear a vow that you would let us go if I confessed?!” Duan Yong’s eyes widened.
An Lin glared at Duan Yong with cold eyes. “Hehe, I don’t have a habit of upholding promises to scum.”
Duan Yong’s mouth gaped open, clearly not expecting An Lin to pull a stunt like this.
Gongsun Ji’s face was deathly pale, and he pointed at An Lin as his body trembled uncontrollably. “The elders did nothing wrong! What reason do you have for killing them? An Lin, you’re a monster!”
An Lin pointed a finger at him, and a bolt of Golden Void Lightning instantly reduced him to a piece of oversized charcoal.
Gongsun Ji didn’t even have a chance to let loose a cry of anguish before he died with his eyes wide open.
“It’s exactly because of people like you in this Xuan Qing Sect that scum like Duan Yong would be produced. What do you think? Duan Yong?” An Lin looked down at the man who had had all five of his limbs amputated.
“Why would you go so far? Who is Kong Zuixiang to you?” Duan Yong asked with a despairing expression.
A faint smile appeared on An Lin’s face. “She’s my friend.”
“How did this happen…” Duan Yong’s eyes were blank with incredulity.
It was also at this moment that a power tore through his body again, pulverizing his dao foundation.
Duan Yong let loose another bloodcurdling cry as his cultivation base of several thousand years was destroyed in an instant.
“Kill me!” Duan Yong glared at An Lin in despair and rage.
“You want to die? Sorry, it would be too lenient an end for you to just die after the heinous crime you committed.” An Lin pressed a hand to his head.
“What… What are you doing?” Duan Yong asked with a panicked expression.
A dark light burst forth from An Lin’s hands. Soul extraction!
This was the soul extraction technique he had learned from Duan Hunzi’s storage ring.
Duan Yong’s eyes glazed over, and his vitality quickly receded as his semi-transparent soul was extracted from his body.
Four Divine Flames then appeared at the same time, scorching the struggling soul in the air.
Indescribably terrifying pain caused Duan Yong to screech in agony. His cries erupted throughout heaven and earth, and the excruciating pain was countless times more terrifying than just killing him.
“Kill me… I beg of you, please kill me…” Duan Yong wept as he pleaded.
An Lin wasn’t about to let him off the hook that easily, and he continued to scorch him with his Divine Flames.
Among the countless spectating cultivators, some had paled from fear, while others were clapping for joy.
Finally, the new sect leader of the Xuan Qing Sect had his soul incinerated into dust in front of the countless spectators at his own inauguration.
Everyone fell deathly silent.
An Lin closed his eyes and heaved a long sigh.
He turned to everyone present with an indifferent expression. “What happened today is a judgment delivered by the Four Nine Immortal Sect. If any of you have any objections, you are free to come to the Four Nine Immortal Sect to find me. Farewell.”
He left via Dog Kinesis Flight as he spoke, leaving a scene of destruction and disarray below him.
No one dared to stop him.
All of them looked up silently as the white-robed man disappeared into the clouds.
This powerful and legendary figure would remain deeply engraved into their minds for the rest of their days.

In a tiny corner, at the edge of a volcanic land, is born an imp. An imp no different from any other save one thing. An anomaly in its code. A blip in its creation.
