Chapter 683: Reinforcements

The sixteen students faltered when they noticed the new arrivals, and they all charged toward them as if they had seen their savior.
“An Lin, I beg of you, please avenge our teacher and classmates!” A man with a missing arm implored with bloodshot eyes.
“If it wasn’t for Teacher Yan Ze sacrificing his life to stall Morton in order to buy time for the executive department cultivators to arrive, we would’ve all died here.” A female student wiped the tears away from her face.
An Lin and Xu Xiaolan made their way toward the shriveled body of the half-kneeling man before silently extending a deep bow toward him.
They did not need any convincing. They were both students of The United University of Cultivation, so they were definitely going to avenge their fallen teachers and fellow students.
The cultivators from the Heavenly Court executive department had also noticed An Lin’s group, and a beautiful woman in a red dress made her way toward them.
“An Lin!” A crisp cry sounded.
An Lin raised his head to discover a familiar face that he had seen when he had entered the Ancient Tai Chu Realm.
He nodded politely as a greeting. “Yang Ruoling, are you responsible for taking care of matters here?”
Yang Ruoling shook her head. “No. Department Head Jin Hu is pursuing Morton, and I’m only here to take care of things in the aftermath.”
“Department Head Jin Hu and Deputy Department Head Chen Yu have already set up alarm spell formations at Ling Guang City, which encompasses half of the Gem State. However, it will drain their energy to constantly maintain a spell formation like this, and this is not something they can keep up for too long.”
A frustrated expression appeared on Yang Ruoling’s face as she spoke.
An Lin nodded upon hearing this. This didn’t mean that the executive department was lacking people; it was just that there wasn’t much to do when faced with such a powerful enemy. Return to Void Stage mighty figures were at the pinnacle of the continent, and all of them were capable of spatial manipulation to come and go at will. The Gem State was massive, and it would be extremely difficult to provide timely assistance as he could launch surprise attacks on any city within the state.

The only thing the executive department mighty figures could do was to set up alarm spell formations that encompassed as large an area as possible in order to be able to be alerted as soon as possible when the Blood Tribe struck.
Atop the city wall of Huang Quan City.
A mundane looking youth suddenly appeared.
He wore a yellowish-brown set of linen garments, and he was not very tall, but his delicate features seemed to carry an uncharacteristic sense of age and gravity.
The youth walked among the students and soldiers, but no one detected his presence.
Even the divine intent left by Emperor Tian Huang had automatically disregarded his existence.
“Class Captain, do you think An Lin is going to be able to avenge the teachers and students?” A concerned expression appeared on Su Qianyun’s face.
“That’s quite hard to say. If Morton is an arrogant person, he would most likely fall to An Lin, but that doesn’t seem to be the case from the information we have on him. Sigh, we have to work hard to become stronger so that we can be like An Lin and possess the strength to protect the honor of the Heavenly Court!” Xuanyuan Cheng sighed, but his eyes became extremely resolute and determined.
“Yes! I have to work hard too. I’ll set myself a small target first and catch up to Classmate Xiaolan!” Su Qianyun pumped her little fist as she encouraged herself in her mellow voice.
A slight smile appeared on Xuanyuan Cheng’s face. He had made up his mind a long time ago that he would lock himself away in seclusion at his sect during the holidays, and he wouldn’t return to school until he progressed to Soul Formation Stage!
Having a prodigy whom they could chase after was the best catalyst for their growth.
Xuanyuan Cheng and Su Qianyun’s aptitudes were actually about on par with the likes of Wang Xuanzhan, but their rates of progression continued to outstrip Wang Xuanzhan by a little bit. This was partly due to their own efforts, but a lot of it could actually be attributed to the passive encouragement provided to them by An Lin and Xu Xiaolan.

The seemingly-invisible youth eavesdropped for a while longer before nodding lightly. “An Lin went to Cang Lan City? That’s not far away at all…”
The youth stepped forward, and he suddenly disappeared, as if he had evaporated from the face of this world.
At Cang Lan City, An Lin and Xu Xiaolan were discussing a course of action with Yang Ruoling.
At this moment, a certain dao talisman that Yang Ruoling was carrying with her was suddenly ignited.
Her expression shifted drastically upon seeing this. “Crap! Qing Yu City is under attack!”
“Little Xiao, let’s go!” An Lin immediately rallied his team.
“Wait, take me with you!” Yang Ruoling gritted her teeth as hatred surfaced on her beautiful features. “One of my very close friends also died in the last battle. I want to participate in this battle as well and contribute to the downfall of Morton!”
An Lin turned toward Yang Ruoling, and he nodded wordlessly.
Xiao Ze tore open a spatial rift, and a black light enveloped everyone as they stepped into the spatial rift.
Spell techniques shook heaven and earth over Qing Yu City.
Countless crimson streaks of light rained down upon the city wall, breaking through the city-protection formation and blasting a gargantuan hole in the tall and imposing city wall.
Tens of thousands of Blood Tribe soldiers stormed into the city, among which were ten Soul Formation Stage cultivators who could unleash extremely fearsome attacks at will.
The defenses of Qing Yu City were soon cleaved open by the Blood Tribe army, and a brutal battle soon ensued.
There were only three Soul Formation human cultivators, and they were soon forced firmly onto the back foot by the ten Soul Formation Stage Blood Tribe cultivators.
“Persevere, everyone! The Heavenly Court reinforcements are coming soon!” A Spirit Nurturing Stage general spread his arms and rallied his troops.
However, he was pounced upon by a certain Blood Tribe cultivator who snapped his neck and drained the blood from his body.
None of the soldiers and students retreated upon seeing this. Instead, they fought with even more ferocity, as if their wraths had been completely incurred. They unleashed one powerful spell technique after another as if their lives depended on it, and some of them were even launching suicidal attacks to take down their enemies with them. They knew there was a chance that they wouldn’t be able to hold on until reinforcements arrived, so they might as well take this opportunity to kill as many Blood Tribe soldiers as they could.
A man with crimson scales all over his body standing atop a crimson eagle over a hundred feet in size chortled with glee. “Kill them all! We’ll continue our killing spree for three more minutes and retreat after we’ve all filled our stomachs!”
“Are you sure you can last three more minutes?” a crisp voice suddenly sounded from behind him.
The man jolted in shock, and he immediately turned around as scorching flames burst forth from his mouth.
The flames were like a plume of crimson ink, which swept through the air with fearsome corrosive effects, leaving a trail of twisted and warped air in its wake.
However, an even more formidable plume of white flames instantly pierced through the crimson flames.
The crimson flames all retreated and screeched as if they had met their monarch, leaving a trail for the white flames to pass through straight down the middle.
The Blood Tribe cultivator’s pupils contract drastically, and the last things he saw were an exquisitely beautiful figure enshrouded in white flames and a monstrous flaming sword projection that was capable of incinerating heaven and earth.
In the next instant, the white sword projection sliced him in half before burning him to ash and dust.
Thus, a Blood Tribe Soul Formation Stage cultivator was insta-killed by Xu Xiaolan.
At the same time, An Lin, Xiao Ze, Tina, Yang Ruoling, Xiao Chou, and Da Bai also descended upon the battlefield.
This was the strongest reinforcement team the Heavenly Court had to offer!

The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down.
