Chapter 598: See You in the Next Life
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
Outside the Immortal Spirit Tower, countless eyes were glued to Xuanyuan Cheng’s face.
The scenes unfolding before their eyes were simply far too bizarre and unimaginable. Hence, after a flurry of cries of surprise, everyone’s attention was drawn to the Xuanyuan Cheng image on the screen.
“Holy f*ck! What the hell happened? Why is Xuanyuan Cheng holding hands with that woman?”
All the students that had just turned their eyes on Xuanyuan Cheng’s “battle” exclaimed in shock.
“I can’t tell if this is trial-fixing or a step toward greater understanding and world peace!”
“Does anyone know what’s going on? Someone fill me in!”
Many students turned around while looking for an explanation.
However, even the students who knew what the context was weren’t in the mood to be doing any explaining as they were still busy digesting what they had seen. It took time to come to terms with something so inconceivable…
“Is Xuanyuan Cheng that bad*ss? He can even pick up ancestral mighty figures now?!”
Some students began scoffing in a teasing tone, “Congratulations on your marriage, you may embark on your honeymoon now…”
“Waah… you’re MY Prince Charming, how could you do this? How could you choose her?!” Some female students’ hearts were shattered.
“Sigh, we should give them our blessings.”
“To be honest, I think Xuanyuan Cheng is right. I’m also quite sympathetic to all those mighty figures who are trapped in the Immortal Spirit Tower, even though they have sworn vows. I think we should give them the option of leaving whenever they please.”
Many students immediately chimed in with words of agreement upon hearing this.
Of course, there were also some students who didn’t feel this way as they felt it was important to also think from the perspective of the Heavenly Court.
…
Within the Immortal Spirit Tower, Xuanyuan Cheng was also a little dazed as he held Shu Yu’s hand.
However, he quickly came to his senses before releasing her hand as a warm smile appeared on his face. “Senior Shu Yu, please activate your cultivation method according to my instructions, and I’ll separate your true intent of Dao from your divine intent.”

Shu Yu nodded slightly as she stared at Xuanyuan Cheng.
At this moment, Bai Zhong, who had just sent An Lin to the ninety-eighth level, seemed to suddenly detect that something was amiss. He then focused his divine sense on the eighty-second level.
The sight that welcomed him there almost knocked him unconscious.
What the f*ck! Xuanyuan Cheng wanted to send a mighty figure within the Immortal Spirit Tower to the afterlife?!
And the most important point was that the mighty figure wasn’t offering up any resistance?
What the f*ck is going on? Are all these students supposed to be some sort of freaks?!
He could accept their astounding strengths, but now they were even trying to send the mighty figures within the Immortal Spirit Tower to the afterlife?!
Bai Zhong was both panicked and exhausted.
This wasn’t something for him to decide; this was not even something Vice-Principal Yu Hua had jurisdiction over.
After seeing the expression of yearning on Shu Yu’s face, Bai Zhong resisted the urge to stop what they were doing right away. Instead, he immediately contacted the Celestial Thearch via voice transmission talisman.
This was something only the Celestial Thearch had the right to make a decision on.
The line connected in no time.
Bai Zhong informed the situation to Celestial Thearch and what followed was a few seconds of silence that felt like years.
After about a dozen seconds, a sigh that was caught somewhere between disappointment and relief sounded from the voice transmission talisman.
“Just let it be.”
The meaning behind these words was very clear.
The Celestial Thearch was advising Bai Zhong to not interfere with this matter and let Xuanyuan Cheng and Shu Yu sort it out for themselves.
Shu Yu closed her eyes as her body was enshrouded in a white light.
A huge projection of a yin-yang image revolved underfoot, which signified the eternal cycle of life and death.
Xuanyuan Cheng activated his Dao of Myriad Spirit Taichi as well as the power of his conscience to the maximum as a mystical light imbued with the power of great reversal lit up the entire eighty-second level.
Shu Yu suddenly felt like her body had become extremely light, as if a certain shackle had been broken.

However, activating power like this would inevitably result in a backlash.
Xuanyuan Cheng’s eyes were completely bloodshot while blood trickled from the corners of his lips.
However, he seemed completely oblivious to all this as he continued to maintain the spell technique.
Shu Yu seemed to have detected something. When she opened her eyes, she caught sight of the strained state Xuanyuan Cheng was in.
Her heart trembled as an unfathomable emotion welled up in her heart.
“Xuanyuan Cheng, you…”
“Don’t talk! Focus your attention!”
Xuanyuan Cheng practically yelled at her.
Shu Yu stared at Xuanyuan Cheng with a profound gaze before closing her eyes to focus on activating her cultivation method.
Boom!
The entire eighty-second level suddenly tremored violently.
An immense power began to sweep through the entire eighty-second level, and the power was both soft and flowing but also resolute and unyielding. It manifested in the form of a serpentine dragon dancing in the sky in a beautiful and moving scene. This was the true intent of Shu Yu’s divine Dao.
The power blossomed like fireworks in a spectacular display, and they also disappeared just as quickly as fireworks did.
An exquisitely beautiful Celestial Immortal in a flowing red dress descended before Xuanyuan Cheng, and she enveloped Xuanyuan Cheng in a tight hug with tears swimming in her eyes.
“Thank you… truly…”
A relieved smile finally appeared on Xuanyuan Cheng’s face as he sensed Shu Yu’s scorching emotions. He lifted a hand, which was trembling slightly from overexertion, to pat her on the back. “I wish you a happy next life, hero of the Heavenly Court.”
Shu Yu closed her eyes as tears flowed down her cheeks. “I don’t know if what I’m doing is wrong or right, but you are the light that had lit up the last part of my life.”
Shu Yu’s body slowly dissipated into specks of light as an ethereal voice reverberated by Xuanyuan Cheng’s ear, “If I really do get reincarnated, I hope I can meet you again in my next life.”
Xuanyuan Cheng nodded with a smile. He then collapsed to the ground in exhaustion as he watched Shu Yu’s figure slowly disappear.
In order to fulfill his promise, he had used up all his power and then some. His overexertion had taken him well beyond his limits, and he was unable to hold on for any longer.
After Shu Yu left, Xuanyuan Cheng completely blacked out.
A few seconds later, a white mist condensed to form the figure of an old man beside him.
Bai Zhong appeared by Xuanyuan Cheng’s side and looked down at him with a complex expression.
He still couldn’t understand why the man had done what he had done, but after listening to Shu Yu’s parting words, he finally began to understand something.
“Sigh… they are all sentient beings. I ended up ignoring their true feelings.
“Perhaps what you did was right.”
Bai Zhong heaved a forlorn sigh as he waved his arm to teleport Xuanyuan Cheng out of the tower.
He then muttered to himself under his breath, “What the hell are these freaks? I have to check on the rest of them to make sure they don’t stir up any more trouble…”
Meanwhile, outside the Immortal Spirit Tower.
All the spectating students felt as if they had just seen an epic film, and they were still caught in a bit of a daze.
“Xuanyuan Cheng sent the Celestial Immortal to afterlife just like that? How the hell did he manage something like that?”
“This is the first time this has ever happened since the inception of the Immortal Spirit Tower, right? As expected of one of the top prodigies of the Heavenly Court, his actions here will surely go down in the history of our university!”
“I’m so touched… I ship them! Chengyu for the win!”
“F*ck off! Xuanyuan Cheng is mine!”
“It’s just a pity that Xuanyuan Cheng bowed out on the eighty-second level, and he didn’t even get any rewards of inheritances either.”
“You may think it’s a pity, but it looks like Xuanyuan Cheng begs to differ. He still had a smile on his face even when he fainted…”
…
“Hey, everyone, look! Liu Qianhuan has already defeated the Celestial Immortal on the eighty-seventh level!”

Dispatches from the Inter-galactic
Dispatches From The Inter-Galactic is a series of loosely related satirical stories which take place in a galaxy full of various interstellar civilizations and numerous space faring species generally described as consentients. This series is set in a galaxy which take place in a similar but not entirely unlike the galaxy in which my series Up in Space takes place While there are numerous themes related to interstellar life, several of the stories directly relate to specific themes such as; The pan-galactic ramifications to the use of supersymetrical energy sources (often drained from intera-located alternate and pocket realities.) the use of which by most interstellar civilizations is steadily increasing the overall amount of Dark Matter. This is increasing the mass of the galaxy and results in the occasional rips in inter-dimensional space as well as an overall increase in supernova activity. It is also speeding up the approach of the galaxy in Andromeda, which is of concern to several long lived civilizations; The Morphoids, a race of shape-changing consentients who are capable of using the space lanes created by the use of supersymetrical sourced energy to spread throughout the galaxy. They are currently viewed as threat number one by many space-faring species; and Xeno and exo-sexuality, as many species try to figure out what sort of enjoyment they can have with many of the species they encounter in space (only some of which are carbon-based, or more rarely, humanoid in appearance). This also relates to the altering of species to make reproduction somewhat easier for those with rather complicated lifestyles. A major force in this area of pursuit is the galactic visiteering industry, which promotes the ‘uplifting’ of more primitive planet-bound near-consentients.
