Chapter 438: The Dumbstruck Meng Zhi
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
The atmosphere suddenly became extremely peculiar as everyone stood rooted to the spot in befuddlement, unable to understand why the pillar of lightning would inexplicably attack Meng Zhi.
All the while, lightning was slowly dissipating from An Lin’s fingertips.
He had initially planned to manipulate the lightning spirit, but the lightning spirit was imbued with the power of Dao Realm, thereby rendering it immune to his Lightning Manipulation Technique. Hence, he could only settle for manipulating the pillar of lightning it released instead.
Meng Zhi was caught completely off guard and sustained minor injuries from that unexpected attack.
Xu Xiaolan glanced at An Lin with a slight smile on her face before refocusing her gaze on the opponent before her.
Chen Xinran also regained his mobility as the aura of extreme frost disappeared from around him and chortled with mirth. “Hahaha… The Vermilion Bird Sect is truly blessed by the heavens, you dumb b*tches should just give up right now!”
Even the Great Elder of the Vermilion Bird Sect couldn’t help but unleash a vulgar slur like Zhu Yuanzhou so often did. These snow maidens were simply far too detestable, and that last lightning strike was extremely satisfying.
Meng Zhi’s expression shifted slightly as she knitted her brows in a conflicted expression. Activating the seal of the Divine Dao Box had expended a large amount of energy and time. It wouldn’t be impossible to reactivate the seal, but the important thing was, she didn’t even know who had thwarted her attempts to do so the first time; what if the same thing happened again?
She hesitated momentarily before a vast sea of energy poured forth from her body once again.
“Lightning spirit, in position!”
The lightning bird once again unleashed a towering pillar of lightning, and the ferocious power emanating from the pillar of lightning destroyed everything within a radius of a hundred feet.
Chen Xinran’s expression darkened as he charged toward Meng Zhi.
However, the three Holy Palace Leaders had converged on him once again to keep him at bay.
Just as the pillar of lightning reached into the sky, its trajectory changed once again, and it tore through the air like an unstoppable sword before blasting toward Meng Zhi!
A galaxy of stars suddenly flashed within Meng Zhi’s eyes as bright light burst forth from the ice mural behind her, creating a rainbow barrier in front of her.
Boom!
Lightning flashed and fearsome power burst forth in a radius of several kilometers, leaving a series pitch-black spatial rifts in its wake.
However, the rainbow barrier only trembled violently but didn’t crumble.
A blue projection of a goddess appeared behind Meng Zhi, and she opened her all-encompassing eyes to look at everything around her all at once before her gaze settled on a certain young man.

The projection began to vanish, and Meng Zhi turned her eyes upon the young man.
An Lin’s knees trembled slightly when Meng Zhi turned her eyes upon him.
“It’s you?” Meng Zhi turned to look at An Lin, and her voice was as cold as glacial wind.
Everyone engaged in the battle around An Lin all faltered slightly.
They then turned their eyes upon An Lin with shock and incredulity.
There were many people speculating what could have diverted the pillar of lightning unleashed by the lightning spirit. Some thought that it was the effect of a certain mystic treasure in the sect, some thought that a mysterious, powerful elder had intervened. But no one thought that this would have something to do with a Soul Formation Intermediate Stage cultivator!
“High Priestess, you’ve got the wrong person!”
An Lin raised both hands in the air in a gesture of surrender as he looked at M with an innocent expression.
Meng Zhi’s expression didn’t falter in the slightest. “I can’t be a hundred percent sure that it was you, but what I was able to glean through the projection of the ice goddess shows that you are the most likely culprit.”
She pointed her staff at An Lin and the ice mural behind her suddenly extended to over a kilometer in size as divine might surged, causing the space around her to tremble violently.
A pillar of white light blasted forth from the staff, instantly piercing through several kilometers before descending upon An Lin with peerless destructive force!
The pillar of white light flashed through the air with enough power to strike despair into An Lin’s heart. This was an attack powerful enough to kill a Return to Void Stage mighty figure in an instant so An Lin would die upon contact if the attack struck him.
“An Lin!”
Countless cries rang out.
No one had expected the High Priestess Meng Zhi to expend so much energy in unleashing such a powerful attack against An Lin, who was only a Soul Formation Intermediate Stage cultivator.
Several of the elders risked being severely injured by their opponents as they turned their attention on An Lin to unleash about a dozen defensive spell techniques in his direction.
Boom boom boom…
The white pillar of light was like a blade of Divine Punishment, puncturing through each of the defensive spell formations with unstoppable force.
The power behind Meng Zhi’s attack had been significantly nullified, but there was still enough residual power to severely wound a Return to Void Stage mighty figure. For a Soul Formation Intermediate Stage cultivator like An Lin, there would probably be nothing of him left if he were to be struck by that attack.

An Lin brought out his Chaotic Alloy Brick in that split second.
He was then completely immobilized as the space around him had been sealed by a powerful spatial spell technique.
Boom!
The pillar of light pierced through heaven and earth and even punctured a bottomless hole into the canopy of the divine tree.
“An Lin!” Xu Xiaolan flew toward the gaping hole in the canopy of the divine tree without any regard for her own safety.
The elders of the Vermilion Bird Sect all wore thunderous expressions on their faces. An Lin was their last hope to prevent the Divine Dao Box from sealing the holy flame away, but Meng Zhi’s decisiveness caught them off guard. Now that An Lin was dead, they had lost their only chance of keeping the Holy Vermilion Flame from the snow maidens.
Meng Zhi had been interrupted twice in her attempt to establish the seal of the Divine Dao Box, and she had to expend further energy in unleashing an attack on An Lin. Thus, she was beginning to experience symptoms of exhaustion and depletion, but it was all worth it for the Holy Vermilion Flame.
She turned her eyes on the holy flame again and continued where she had left off. “Lightning spirit, in position!”
Boom!
A pillar of lightning blasted toward the sky, and the Holy Vermilion Flame began to dim even further as the power of sealing increased.
A transparent, humanoid wind spirit descended beside the lightning bird and a white tornado appeared from its body, which continued to elongate to resemble a snake which connected heaven and earth as it swept up winds with immense destructive force.
“Wind spirit, in position.”
“Divine Dao Seal, commence!”
Meng Zhi’s staff once again began to glow with incandescent white light as boundless power burst forth.
The Divine Dao Box released a rainbow ripple which pierced through the air before merging with the seven Dao Realm immortal spirits.
The immortal spirits turned the eyes up to the sky above as the projection of a woman in rainbow robes appeared between heaven and earth.
The projection was as tall as ten thousand feet, and an aura imbued with the power of the Divine Dao permeated throughout the entire space, giving everyone a sense of awe and helplessness as if they were in the presence of a supreme god.
This woman was none other than the founder of the Holy Glacial Lands, the Ice Patriarch!
The Ice Patriarch slowly extended her arms toward the Holy Vermilion Flame before closing her hands together.
The pristine holy flame was immediately compressed into a white ball by an extremely fearsome sealing power.
The white ball was drawn by an invisible force toward the Flame-Gather Disc in the air.
This was the final step. Summoning the power of the Ice Patriarch was extremely energy-consuming, but Meng Zhi gritted her teeth and poured all her strength into the Divine Dao Box.
Right at this moment, the monstrous pillar of lightning once again diverged before blasting into Meng Zhi with devastating destructive force.
Boom!
Lightning flashed, and the sky was transformed into a realm of electricity as Meng Zhi was knocked flying for several kilometers again!
Everyone completely faltered once again as they all turned to look at Meng Zhi with shock in their expressions.
Meng Zhi’s radiant long hair was charred and disheveled, and her High Priestess robe was completely tattered as black smoke rose from her body in a miserable display.
Her exquisite beautiful features were stained with blood as she looked around in confusion. Finally, she caught sight of a severely injured young man emerging from the hole in the canopy of the divine tree with the assistance of a beautiful woman.
The young man raised his middle finger at her, and his voice roared like thunder, “You b*tchy snow maiden! Don’t you feel ashamed unleashing such a powerful attack against a Soul Formation Intermediate Stage cultivator like me? Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?!”
“No matter how many times that dumb bird unleashes its pillar of lightning, I’ll make sure it strikes you in the face!”
Everyone was shocked into silence after hearing An Lin’s words.
Meng Zhi’s chest constricted with rage, and she opened her mouth to retaliate, but she found that she didn’t really have anything to say, and it would be unsightly for someone of her prestige to engage in a war of words, so she could only glower at An Lin with rage burning in her eyes.
The snow maidens stared at An Lin as if they were staring at a monster; all of them were at a complete loss for words.
“B… bada*s!” Mo Hai was at a loss for adjectives.
“Holy sh*t…” Lu Jiazhi muttered under his breath.
“An Lin is invincible!”
“The Vermilion Bird Sect is invincible!”
Thunderous roars erupted from all the sect disciples as their battle intents burned like never before.
Their eyes were glowing red with excitement. An Lin stood up for them when they were on the brink of defeat. Now it was time to back him up and retaliate against their enemies with all their might!
In the eyes of all the sect disciples, An Lin looked like he was practically glowing!

DarkBoi69's mediocre, rushed and badly-written aventure
Follow DarkBoi69's edgy adventure as I move him through a shitty plot where he meets terribly-written characters like angry evil stupid villains and naive cute useless busty women. This story is not really an actual serious story but simply a writing exercise for me to focus on overall writing speed, forcefully insert some writing in my everyday life to increase productivity and most importantly help with turning ideas, thoughts or feelings into writing directly without feeling blocked, hopefully trying to achieve something as close as possible to writing unconsciously what i’m thinking about. I'll probably try to do something like writing as much in 30 mins as I can, nearly every-day. So far I've only done this once and it already seems like a pretty good thing to do. I don’t have anything planned and that’s probably going to be a constant for every one of these exercises, so it’ll end up being not very good (although maybe better than it has any right to be? ) and nonsensical.
