Chapter 138: An Lin’s Emotional Strategy
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
An Lin felt that the large dog’s killing intent was targeted toward him.
He was baffled, clearly unable to understand why this large dog showed such hostility toward him.
This was his first time here and he didn’t steal this dog’s bones either!
Fortunately, the large dog quickly reeled in its killing intent. However, it still had a hostile look in its eyes. “Why are you here?”
This question was clearly directed at An Lin. “I’m here to visit Da Bai,” An Lin answered honestly.
The large dog cracked a beautiful smile and its tail raised slightly.
“Get out of here!”
An Lin: “…”
Did this dog swallow gunpowder? Why is it so rude?
Zhao Huaiyin shuffled next to An Lin and whispered apologetically into his ears, “This dog is called Qing Hua. She’s Da Bai’s childhood friend.”
An Lin was baffled. “So?”
Zhao Huaiyin continued, “The critical point is that she likes Da Bai!”
An Lin: “…”
He finally understood why Qing Hua was so hostile toward him.
An Lin looked toward Qing Hua and said sincerely, “Qing Hua, rest assured, I won’t steal your man! After all, our species and sexual preferences are all different. Me getting together with Da Bai is an impossibility!”
Zhao Huaiyin facepalmed. What on earth is with An Lin’s train of thought? How did he relate it to stealing her man?
Clearly, Qing Hua was hostile because she didn’t want her beloved Da Bai to descend into a pet beast of a human!
Boom!
A terrifying aura emanated from Qing Hua’s body.
“Why is it that Da Bai wants to become a pet beast to such an idiotic human?” she seethed. “No, I must put an end to this today! Woof, woof!”
A flittering gold light suddenly enveloped Qing Hua’s body. She sprung up and leaped toward An Lin at a terrifying speed.
“Stop! Woof!”
A familiar voice traveled into his ears.
An Lin looked up and saw Da Bai. He looked like a peerless hero as he trod over on a rainbow cloud.
Like a cannonball, a powerful gust of wind slammed into Qing Hua.
Qing Hua crashed into the floor, smashing out a gigantic pit.

As the smoke and dust billowed, Da Bai descended, blocking An Lin behind him. “Why are you attacking my master? Woof!” Da Bai yelled furiously.
Hearing Da Bai call him master, An Lin was extremely moved. He really wanted to give Da Bai a big hug, yet was afraid that Qing Hua would become jealous. Thus, he could only force himself to contain his urges.
Qing Hua climbed out of the deep pit. She appeared a bit disheveled but didn’t have any injuries.
Tears glistened in her eyes as she looked toward Da Bai. With a shaky voice, she said, “You hit me…?”
Da Bai frowned. “You clearly attacked first. I was only stopping you.”
There was a pained look on Qing Hua’s face. Tears trickled down her cheeks, dampening her soft white fur. “You actually hit me because of him…”
Seeing Qing Hua’s expression, Da Bai scowled and softened his stance. “Stop causing trouble. This is my choice.”
“Woof, woof. Waah…” Qing Hua’s ears and tail drooped down. With a pitiful expression, she lamented, “Ever since we were kids, you’ve never hit me before…”
An Lin shivered. What’s with this Chiung Yao-esque tragic feeling? Dog’s sadomasochism?
Should Da Bai have restrained himself? Qing Hua looks so pitiful!
For some reason, he also felt a bit sad seeing this.
“Qing Hua…” Da Bai’s voice finally softened.
“Woof, woof! I don’t care anymore! Waah…” Qing Hua ran off without looking back.
Da Bai raised his paw. In the end, though, he didn’t end up taking a step forward. He gazed at the disappearing figure silently.
If this happened under the pouring rain, many people would have shed tears.
“Ptui!”
The silence was suddenly shattered.
Da Bai spat, a sinister smile on his face. “That annoying little minx has finally left!”
An Lin: “…”
The crying Xiao Chou: “…”
What just happened? Give back my touching scene!
“Let’s go, An Lin. I’ll take you to my place!” Da Bai chuckled.
An Lin calmed himself down and pointed at Da Bai’s back.
Da Bai blinked.
“Okey-dokey!”
An Lin laughed heartily and excitedly jumped onto Da Bai’s back, once again performing Dog Kinesis Flight!
That unforgettable feeling and that familiar body warmth… These all had him extremely touched!
Da Bai soared into the skies and flew toward his dwelling.

On the ground…
Zhao Huaiyin stared dazedly at the sky, gazing at the disappearing Da Bai and An Lin. The tragic dog drama didn’t bring him to tears. Now, however, there were tears trickling down his cheek.
…
As he flew through the sky, Da Bai kept glancing somewhere else. An Lin caught onto this by coincidence.
Da Bai lived in a luxurious courtyard. He had a Spirit Nurturing Stage Black Lion as a butler, and also had a dozen or so human cultivators as attendants. From this, it could be seen that his standing at the Mythological Beast Sect was definitely not low.
In his bedroom, there was a thick and bulky bone. It was glowing faintly with a five-colored light.
“This is my favorite bone, woof!”
Saying this, Da Bai held the bone in his mouth and started happily lapping at it.
An Lin was astonished. “This is the bone of a Rainbow Cow?”
Da Bai’s eyes lit up. “Yeah! I can’t believe you know this type of bone as well!”
An Lin chuckled. He told Da Bai about how his team had eaten a Rainbow Cow and mysteriously summoned Shenron, then he detailed his journey through the ruins.
Da Bai listened to An Lin’s adventures with keen interest. “As expected,” he exclaimed excitedly, “I’ll always be able to come across fun and interesting things if I follow you! I’m definitely following you!”
An Lin also enjoyed Dog Kinesis Flight greatly. Hearing Da Bai’s words, he was absolutely ecstatic.
However, he suddenly thought of something else. “Da Bai, what’re you going to do about Qing Hua if you follow me? Isn’t she your childhood sweetheart?”
Da Bai shook his head. “Don’t worry about her. I only see her as a little sister. After I leave, she’ll be fine looking after herself.”
For the sake of Da Bai’s future, An Lin felt that it was inappropriate to make such sloppy decisions. “If you do this, how will you continue your lineage,” An Lin asked solemnly. “Have your parents agreed? Also, if you follow me, you mightn’t meet any more beautiful dogs. You have to prepare yourself mentally. If you become cold, lonely, and empty in the future, don’t come running to me…”
“This…” Da Bai also appeared to understand the severity of this problem.
Seeing this, An Lin asked bluntly, “Do you want to screw Qing Hua?”
“Screw Qing Hua?” Da Bai’s face flushed red and he spat, “I don’t want want to friggin’ screw her, I only see her as a little sister!”
Hearing Da Bai’s reply, An Lin knew that Da Bai was perhaps still not at that age yet. He heaved a sigh of relief in his mind, yet continued to persuade patiently, “Even so, you shouldn’t view her as a little sister.”
Da Bai was slightly taken aback. “Don’t tell me you want me to wed her? I don’t want to! Woof!”
An Lin shook his head and chuckled, “Why would I want you to wed her? What I meant was… don’t treat her as a little sister, treat her as your fallback girl!”
“What’s that mean?” Da Bai was slightly baffled.
An Lin smiled mysteriously. “A fallback girl means a reserve candidate for your wife. You don’t need to make clear your relationship with her. However, you have to be nicer and more gentle with her.
“Think about it. Once you leave the Mythological Beast Sect, you’ll be separated from Qing Hua. This period of time is most testing on relationships.
“If you two get along like brother and sister, then she definitely won’t forget you, her big brother. She’ll simply think that you’re not interested in love yet and keep holding onto the hopes that she can be with you. Such a situation will hold up her love life.
“However, if you develop an ambiguous relationship with her, there will be a hint of sexual relation. Then, she’ll only have two choices remaining. The first is to accept such a relationship and await your return. The second is to develop a relationship with another dog. Dropping the sibling act between you two, everything will become clear.
“If Qing Hua chooses to leave you for another dog, then you would’ve allowed her to recognize her own feelings. If Qing Hua can keep waiting for you, never leaving or abandoning, then you must marry her! Where else will you find such a loyal dog?!”
Listening to An Lin’s analysis, Da Bai’s eyes became bright and radiant. “Master, what you said makes so much sense!”
An Lin chuckled to himself as he stroked Da Bai’s head.
Idiot Da Bai… Only in such a way can you get a fallback girl…

Rekindle
My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.

Verdant Heart Seed - A Reverend Insanity fan-fiction
Back in the Late Antiquity Era, the protagonist meets his untimely demise. But Heaven and Earth always leaves a way out, his new cultivation journey begins anew on the path of reclaiming his former strength and defying Fate.---This is a story about a native cultivator of the Gu world. He lived in the era of/before Spectral Soul Demon Venerable (two venerable eras before the main RI plot). He suffered the rise of the demon venerable, barely able to make his arrangements before his death. He manages to rebirth, but doesn't everything go as planned. The story starts off in an isolated small word (grotto heaven), until the MC can grow and reclaim his former glory, before surpassing it. (long way, he was already rank 8 before) The MC has a pragmatic worldview, aligned with what you would expect from someone living hundreds of years in that kind of hostile environment. He doesn't shy away from immoral acts if it benefits him. The MC bears close resemblance to Fang Yuan in this regard, but his goal is not eternal life. One of my aims was to showcase the later introduced cultivation rules into the mortal cultivation (dao marks, attainment etc.) and explore novel scenarios within this highly technical cultivation environment.
