Supreme Grandpa Chapter 16

Two hours later, all the reinforcement materials had been more or less used up. Yang Song then stood up and looked at the current entrance to the abyss, feeling very satisfied.
And Xiao Laoxu, who had rested for several hours, recovered a lot of energy. Seeing that Yang Song finished it, he rushed over very quickly and stretched out his head to look into the depths of the hole.
"Squeak!"
With just a glance, the little guy was shocked, waving his paws, and squeaking incessantly.
This mini entrance of the abyss had changed its appearance.
"This is the real trap. Little Laoxu, your previous thoughts were too naïve. Look, now the wall of this hole has been reinforced by red and purple gold, it's a product of a mixture of the material from the abyss and the material on our planet. This kind of metal's thickness is as thick as 5 centimeters. Even if it is a Grandmaster level powerhouse, it's still difficult for him to break it."
Yang Song looked at this masterpiece of his that he created with his owns hands and said with a smile.
"In addition, on these solid red and purple gold, I also added a lot of removable mobile blades, which are also made of alloy. Even if it is a General level monster, it will be cut apart by these blades easily."
When Yang Song said this, Xiao Laoxu took two steps back quietly.
Fortunately, it could not speak. Otherwise, at this moment, it would shout loudly.
'You added too many of those sharp blades, right? The entire passage is densely packed with super sharp blades. For the 1-meter-deep passage, there are nearly 200 sharp blades, and they are double-edged to boot at that. If anyone accidentally falls into it, won't they be cut into slices like that of like onions immediately? How dangerous is this?'
After being shocked for a while, Xiao Laoxu pulled out his paw and pointed towards the inside of the passage, while his other hand kept patting Yang Song.
Yang Song understood at once, "You are asking me, with so many sharp blades, how do I get in there in the future?"

Xiao Laoxu nodded.
Yang Song smiled. When he made this trap, he took this into consideration as well, "This is not a problem at all. Did I not say that these blades are all detachable? At present, they are only embedded in it through rivet technology. As far as the monster beast is concerned, it is impossible to do it, but for me, it is easy to take it away."
'Collect!'
After speaking, Yang Song said silently in his heart.
The next second, in the hole, the dense blades that were originally stuck to each other, all disappeared strangely as if they had never been there in the first place. And even the slightest sound was not made in the process at that.
Xiao Laoxu rubbed his own a bit and stepped forward. After seeing the smooth, metallic hole, his eyes bulged.
'Release!'
Seeing Xiao Laoxu stunned, Yang Song said silently again in his heart. In an instant, all the blades in the hole appeared out of nowhere.
As the light in the secret room shone on these cold blades, the cold light flickered from time to time. People with intensive phobias would really faint on the spot when they saw it.
"Pop… pop, pop, pop…"
After a while, Xiao Laoxu came back to his senses. Then, like a human being, this mini guy stretched out his two paws and slapped them vigorously. He was clearly applauding Yang Song.
"With these things, I don't believe that monster beasts will dare to rush out carelessly. Even if they dare to rush out, they will only become my food at most."
Yang Song smiled, and at the same time, he started the last step. From the storage space, he took out a thick metal manhole cover, banged it, and covered the hole. The size was not too big nor small, it was just right for the hole.
This manhole cover came from a wretched-looking man in the trading market.
After doing this, Yang Song thoughtfully found a carpet to cover the manhole cover. Finally, he moved a luxurious chair over and put it on the carpet. In this way, even if someone broke into the secret room, it would still be difficult to find the entrance of the abyss without a long period of exploration.

After completing concealing the entrance to the abyss, Yang Song sat on the futon again and began to cultivate.
These days, he had been collecting materials during the day, and cultivating at night, until now, he had absorbed a total of 93 psionic particles.
Today, he only needed to absorb seven more to completely become a Qi Refining Realm cultivator. As for Xiao Laoxu, he was exhausted by digging holes continuously, so he lay down next to Yang Song and fell asleep.
…
As Yang Song concentrated on his cultivation, the gate of an abandoned factory in the suburbs of Tong City was filled with mud.
Puff, puff!
A man got out of this giant pile of mud with great difficulty and kept making "puff" sound.
"Bleh, who the hell was it? Who the hell blocked this gate in the middle of the night with so much mud? Damn you, don't get caught by this daddy! I will cut you into pieces otherwise!"
This man was completely surrounded by dirty mud. Because of his anger, he ignored the mess of dirty things on his body and looked left and right. After making sure that there was no one around here, he screamed and cursed angrily.
This man was naturally Luo Xiang.
Destiny was so holy miraculous. Once bad luck came up, these bad things would happen one after another as if that certain victim had become a giant 'bad-luck magnetic device'.
During this period of time, he had investigated Yang Song's identity and knew Yang Song's influence in Tong City.
Tonight, he was resting in this abandoned factory very soundly. When he was sleeping soundly, he faintly heard something outside and thought it was someone who was sent by Yang Song to trouble him.
Therefore, he immediately woke up and hid in a broken jar full of oil stains. Only after waiting for a long time and when the outside movement disappeared did he have the courage to leave the factory.
As a result, the moment he opened the side door of the factory, he only felt a black, mountain-like mud, and a landslide, dumping on him on the spot.
He did not even have time to react before he was buried by the pile of mud ruthlessly.
This was the scene of his cursing.
After cursing to his heart's content, Luo Xiang calmed down quickly and thought, "The sons of that old man have very good strength in Tong City. All of them are very strong individually. Tomorrow is my only last chance. He will hold his 100th birthday. Hence, there will definitely be a lot of guests at home. By then, there will be a mixture of fish, dragons, and worms. As long as I can go into the compound in troubled waters, I can definitely find the opportunity to steal that Golden-Eyed Mouse!"
That was right, this was the plan that Luo Xiang had thought about after several days of racking his brain. And it was also the most feasible plan among all the plans he designed.
What's more, he had also designed an escape route. About 30 kilometers away from Tong City, there was a big mountain named White Mountain. There was only a deep and old forest there. Only a handful amount of people had entered that place so far.
"After stealing the Golden-Eyed Mouse and hiding in White Mountain, I can let that mouse dig treasure in the mountain for me. In at most ten years, this daddy will be like a hero again. Hehehe…."
When he declared this, Luo Xiang still clenched his fists expectantly. His knuckles clashed, and he seemed to see a big and bright future ahead of him right before his eyes as he laughed continuously like a supervillain.
However, after seeing the dirt on his body, he almost choked on his laugh instantly. He knew that tomorrow; he had to steal another suit!

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
