Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 304

Within the space crack, Su Bai's pets started to kill.
Purple Jade raised its staff to spread out a Thorns Domain with a diameter of fifty or sixty kilometers. Once the Plunder characteristic was given, and the Forest Cluster skill was activated, the entire field seemed to have been transformed into a kingdom as countless plants turned into devout believers to fight for the elf.
However, unlike before, this time, the main purpose was to capture the monsters' crystal nuclei. The elf still paid attention to collecting them as it turned many into corpses.
These corpses were then classified by Planet Eye according to their attributes and were fed to the ten wailing krakens awaiting feeding.
Because Su Bai did not want their attributes to change, he only fed them monsters of the same attributes. This way, they would evolve with the same attribute.
Meanwhile, Little Tyrant had almost transformed into a complete body. Although it was only nearly two kilometers tall and was not as terrifying as Little Blood Dragon and Starry Omnivore Kraken, it was absolutely rampant when it entered the battlefield.
On the other side, Mewling Fox, of which the size was similar to the dino, expanded its Black Domain. As it moved forward gracefully, all creatures that entered the Black Domain slowed down because of the upper speed limit imposed by it.
It was elegant and calm, not evasive at all. Almost all attacks, which had been launched toward it, were easily bounced back, just like sparks reflected on an iron plate. Hence, the damage to the iron plate itself was minimal.
On the contrary, the surrounding monsters were killed one by one by the rebounding attacks because of their drastically reduced speed.
Mewling Fox gracefully moved forward, with monsters falling in pieces at its sides.
From time to time, it would separate a Shadow Clone or lift a paw to condense the grip of darkness and destroy some more tenacious monsters.
As they continued advancing and destroying the monsters that had landed on this continent from the space crack, Planet Eye continued collecting crystal nuclei in the back to feed the ten young krakens.
Su Bai managed everything and did not let Starry Omnivore Kraken and Little Blood Dragon take action.
It was completely unnecessary for his pet dragon to take action, and he was afraid that Starry Omnivore Kraken would swallow this place with a few bites.
Although it was not high-level right now, it was still terrifying. Even its size of more than a hundred kilometers now was incomparably threatening.
With such a large size, it would take an hour for a car running at a speed of one hundred kilometers an hour to run from its head to its tail. If the kraken lay on the ground, it could completely cover a small town.
A breath of energy could destroy half of a city, and it could also swallow an entire city in one mouthful.
"Onom, onom~"
Su Bai looked at the stone krakens that had swallowed the monster corpses in front of them. They seemed to never have enough to eat. Their ten-meter-long bodies had already devoured hundreds of thousands of large and small monster corpses, although they were all corpses without crystal nuclei, so the energy contained in them was greatly reduced.
However, adding up so many corpses was definitely bountiful, but these guys could only be promoted to high-level servants.
It could only be said that the potential of these krakens was too full.
As time passed slowly, there were fewer and fewer monsters left in this space crack. Gradually, no monsters were willing to land on the continent, mainly because Su Bai's group was too cruel and incomprehensible.

"Onom~"
It was at this time that the ten young krakens in front of him were promoted to a higher grade one after another.
Their body sizes suddenly grew to more than one hundred meters in length, and their breaths broke through to the low-level warlord.
Looking at the ten guys with different shapes, Su Bai sighed and said, "Finally, they've left their infancy stage and entered the growth period."
After entering the growth period, a kraken's swallowing ability would be greatly improved, and as long as the level was increased a little, they could be released to swallow things on their own, and he would not need to feed them slowly like this.
It was just like Pipi Kraken, which would swallow anything with its mouth open.
Today, he had harvested more than one million crystal nuclei, ranging from the commander to emperor grade. After they were eaten by ten krakens, that should be enough to complete their first evolution.
"Howl!" Ah Bai, the monsters in this space crack have almost all been exterminated!
Purple Jade flapped its wings and flew back to his side, bringing a fresh breath of life.
Little Tyrant and Mewling Fox also went back, waiting for his next order.
"In that case, we'll leave the moment we finish our business here."
Su Bai released his contract book, and a huge shadow descended, which was naturally the powerful Pipi Kraken.
"Onom~"
It stared at Su Bai with a pair of large black holes that had a diameter of one kilometer and looked eager to try.
It seemed to be asking: "Is this ravaged continent for me to eat?"
"Yes, you can eat it together with this space." Su Bai nodded.
"Onom~"
It let out a happy cry, rushed forward with its tail wagging, and directly chomped on the continent, which was more than five thousand kilometers long.
As if the world was annihilated, a breath of heart palpitations erupted from its body, and the whole continent was bitten and swallowed by the kraken piece by piece like a biscuit.
The mountains collapsed, the earth cracked, magma turned into rivers which flowed, and rivers and lakes turned into water vapor which dissipated. Eventually, dust flew in the sky, and the world came to an end.
Su Bai had never seen such a breath on Starry Omnivore Kraken. It seemed that when the kraken started eating this continent, a special breath appeared around its body. It was ancient, annihilating, and frightening.
As it swallowed more of the continent, its aura grew thicker.
At the same time, in another space crack not far from where Su Bai was located, some disciples of the Giant Kraken Gymnasium directed their krakens to clean up the monsters around.
Suddenly, all the krakens softened and fell to the ground.
"What happened?"
Seeing this, the faces of these disciples changed. Could it be that a super terrifying monster had come?
"No, Giant Krakens aren't afraid of coercion. What on earth is happening?"
Many people were puzzled.
However, soon, some high-level Pet Tamers understood the reason through sensory sharing.
"The aura of annihilation… There's a kraken doing an act of annihilation; isn't it afraid of being destroyed by the law?"
A muscular young man showed a hint of horror on his face, wondering which senior was so fierce.
The young man's name was Wei Qingshan, and he was one of the chief disciples of Giant Kraken Gymnasium. Unlike Yulong Gymnasium, their gym was divided into a courtyard.
The entire Giant Kraken Gymnasium was a whole body, and the disciples were divided according to their ranks. There could be many chief disciples, all of whom were Pet Tamers that had reached the title level.

The kraken attribute referred to a Giant Kraken with at least one head and three characteristics; its strength must also have reached the low-level sovereign grade.
"Junior Brother He Haiping, are there any other seniors in the gym nearby?" Wei Qingshan asked.
"I haven't heard of them coming here today."
He Haiping shook his head. Just like the other man, he was tall and mighty and a chief disciple.
In fact, the disciples of the Giant Kraken Gymnasium were tall and mighty, especially the stronger ones.
Chief disciples like Wei Qingshan and He Haiping were nearly two meters tall and looked extremely powerful and muscular. Although they did not have rippling muscles like Hercules, they were still masculine and mighty enough.
Even women were tall and magnificent. Although they were not barbies, they looked far better than ordinary people.
This was caused by a Giant Kraken. Because of its huge size, its backfeeding was also very strong.
Even Su Bai was 1.9 meters now and would be two meters soon. If it had not been for the coordination of his pets' backfeeding, he would have reached three meters long ago.
Anyway, it could be seen from the size and height of the Giant Kraken Gymnasium's disciples whether they were strong or not.
"It seems to be a special situation. Junior Brother He, stay here to preside over the cleaning up of the monsters; I'll take a few people over to see."
Wei Qingshan's face changed and he said, "It's possible that the space crack related to Giant Krakens has been opened."
"Understood. Senior Brother, be careful." He Haiping nodded.
Wei Qingshan did not say much else and climbed onto the back of his black, high-level emperor Sea Dragon Kraken, which was fifty-kilometer-long. Together, they rushed toward where the aura of annihilation was radiating.
After adapting to it, high-level krakens could still act in this world-destroying aura. The reason why these krakens had fallen to the ground just then was that they had not been prepared.
…
On the other side, Starry Omnivore Kraken ate faster and faster. It soon swallowed the entire continent before beginning to eat up the surrounding space with its mouth wide open.
From a distance, as the space was swallowed by it, a gray mist spread about. This was the Mist of Destruction. Once everything here was swallowed, the Mist of Destruction would appear. When it dissipated, everything here would turn into nothingness.
Su Bai looked at the steadily increasing, fascinating world-destroying aura around the kraken's body and showed a trace of worry at the a stream of black light being emitted by it
That stream was very terrifying. The incomparably tough barrier was instantly corroded and melted upon touching it, quickly dissipating into nothingness.
[Law of Nothingness: is a special law that will be born when a world dissipates into nothingness. It is the world's curse on the world-destroyer; it will dissolve the soul and body of the world-destroyer, and only the terrifying monsters above the immortal level can resist this curse.
[The swallowing space in Starry Omnivore Kraken's body contains miracles and the breath of all things. It is very special, so it can compete with the Law of Nothingness and can even absorb it.
In addition, it is now at the starting point of the next stage of evolution. The Law of Nothingness may affect its evolution, giving it a probability to evolve into a special form which has never appeared before.]
After seeing the specific information, Su Bai understood the situation better.
It seemed like the altar of the Eternally Miraculous Beauty and the mermaid Recorder of All Things were more useful than he thought, for even the swallowing space in the Starry Omnivore Kraken's body had changed.
Otherwise, it would be more dangerous to swallow a living continent like this.
Swallowing was different from breaking. Breaking just made it broken, but it would still exist. On the other hand, if it was swallowed, it would be completely digested and would then cease to exist. This was the reason for the Law of Nothingness.
Generally speaking, except for Giant Krakens, only immortal monsters could completely turn a world into nothingness.
In the period that Su Bai was thinking deeply, the Starry Omnivore Kraken had swallowed everything in this space.
Seeing the Mist of Destruction, Su Bai's heart palpitated. Fortunately, this thing would not spread and would only appear in the destroyed place.
Eventually, a new barrier would be formed here, connecting the destroyed place with the boundless world of void.
"Ah Bai, someone is coming!" At this time, Planet Eye came to remind him.
"Someone?" He frowned and quickly kept his kraken, which was flying back. "Activate Electromagnetic Transmission. Let's go back to the gathering place."
He did not want to expose his pet, let alone let people know that this was caused by him.
As soon as he kept his pets and left using Electromagnetic Transmission, Wei Qingshan and the others from Giant Kraken Gymnasium arrived.
"F*ck! It's the Mist of Destruction!"
Seeing the mist rolling in the space crack, Wei Qingshan almost jumped out of his skin.
With such a large Mist of Destruction, how big must the kraken be?
"Could it be that what had just appeared here was an immortal super Giant Kraken?" a disciple asked with a trembling voice. Such a large-scale Mist of Destruction could not have been caused by an ordinary Giant Kraken.
If it were an ordinary Giant Kraken, even before it could finish swallowing the world, it would probably be cursed by it and killed by the Law of Nothingness.
"It's very likely!" Wei Qingshan nodded. "We should leave as soon as possible. We have to report this matter to the Alliance and the gymnasium.
"Since an indestructible Giant Kraken has appeared here, it will be a super scary thing."
Several people also understood that and left without saying anything. An eternal existence could kill them with a single glance.
"According to logic, it should be impossible. Someone is guarding the world of the void. The eternal Giant Kraken is probably as big as a planet, so how can it not be discovered? Is it possible that it's a special kind of world-destroying Giant Kraken?" asked a disciple once they had escaped from the space crack.
"In fact, no one has seen whether it's a world-destroying Giant Kraken or an immortal Giant Kraken. It'll earn us a great achievement if we report this," Wei Qingshan said slowly. The terrifying Mist of Destruction made him dare not to even have any wistful thinking about the Giant Kraken.
"Maybe after we report it, we'll have a chance to subdue the kraken with the elders in the future."
The disciples sighed with traces of longing in their hearts, thinking that even if they could not catch the kraken, they could still take a look at it.
On the other side, Su Bai had already taken the elf and the others back to the gathering place of Yulong Gymnasium.
"Senior brother, the Essence of Evolution contained in the abyss monsters' crystal nuclei is too powerful. In these past few days, many disciples' pets have completed evolving their pets, so the enthusiasm for hunting monsters is very high now," Ouyang Du reported.
"Yes, the effect is too obvious. My ancient dragon was promoted to the high-level monarch today. This Essence of Evolution has a particularly obvious effect and can improve the strength of our pet in all directions.
"I feel that, as long as this Mist of Evolution is used well, the strength of the entire mankind can skyrocket."
Han Wei was also a little excited.
"I see, we'll continue as usual." Su Bai nodded. "By the way, no disciple was targeted while I was away, right?"
"No, everything has been peaceful today."
He Yu took out a list and handed it to him.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
