Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 32

Ding dong…
"Son, are you home?" Father Su's voice came from outside the house.
"Yes, I am."
Su Bai responded quickly and got up to open the door.
Just as he opened the door, his father came forward and gave him a bear hug. Slapping his son's vest with his big hand, the older man said excitedly, "Amazing, my son—you're amazing! You gave me such a big surprise!"
"Dad, don't be so excited. I just obtained a trainer certificate; it's no big deal."
Su Bai was a little dazed by his father's sudden action.
"What do you mean no big deal? Do you really think I don't understand anything? The chief's son in the neighboring village hasn't passed the test for seven or eight years, but you did, and it's on your first try to boot. You're so skilled!"
Father Su let go of his son, his voice still agitated. Even his face was lit with comfort, joy, and pride.
"Sigh. Son, you don't know how long we were discussing with the neighboring village head this afternoon. Your mom even gave them gifts as she begged them in a humble manner, but they still refused to rent the reservoir to us.
"Plus, all of them were so aloof, indifferent, and arrogant. They had such bad tempers and kept rejecting everything. They're so adamant on refusing us to contract the reservoir that even God wouldn't be able to persuade them otherwise.
"Your mother almost argued with them. You don't know how arrogant those people were earlier. That's when their village chief suddenly answered a phone call, then his expression went from shock and stiff to disbelief. In the end, his expression turned into a smile as gentle as chrysanthemum.
"That expression of his is really hilarious. I can't stop laughing whenever I recall it.
"After hanging up the phone, he told his men to hurry up and serve us tea. He apologized to your mother and me with a smile on his face and became as gentle as a grandson. That's so refreshing to see.
"The reservoir was contracted to us, including the surrounding mountains and forests, at the lowest price possible.
"After asking, your mother and I learned that it's a direct order from above; it's to be contracted to us for a trainer to study monsters and come up with new catalytic ideas. They couldn't refuse even though they wanted to.
"We asked again and were told that you're the trainer. You don't know how much your mother and I managed to relieve our anger at that time. It's so refreshing and joyful, physically and mentally!

"Especially the expressions of those people who were clearly very upset, they had to force a smile and please us.
"Son, you've really made your mother and me so proud. We're convinced by you.
"Now, not only has the reservoir been contracted, even the loan's been settled. It'll be credited in a few days.
"Your mother was so happy that she went to buy groceries in the supermarket. We must have a big meal to celebrate tonight."
Father Su rattled on incessantly like a cannon, radiant with delight and joyfully gesticulating. He was obviously in a very good mood.
"Hahaha! Dad, can you be more normal? I feel that you're going crazy."
Su Bai was amused by his father's appearance. He had not seen him so excited in a very long time, and the latter seemed like five or six years younger.
Actually, this was a normal reaction. It did not matter where it was, but if one did not have money or power, they could achieve nothing and would have to force a smile before others despite feeling unhappy.
This was also why he did not hesitate to pay apprenticeship to Gao An. He would have hesitated in the past, thinking that he did not need to rely on anyone else to become a powerful Pet Tamer.
However, it was impossible for him to do that now. Why not rely on the resources knocking at his front door? Much like the dirty tricks he employed in matches, he would not stop using them just because of others' disapproval. After all, what mattered was the power of the tricks.
"You have no idea how happy I am. I've never been this happy in my whole life. I've really managed to vent my anger today."
The older man grinned. He had never been so happy ever since his return to the village after his warlord pet had been killed on a monster battlefield.
"By the way, how did you do it?" asked Father Su doubtfully. It was reasonable to say that his son should be unable to make the neighboring village change their attitude so drastically by becoming a qualified trainer. Furthermore, it had been an order from above.
"This is the power of the master I just paid apprenticeship to. Dad, don't publicize it; it's not good." Su Bai explained. He understood his father's behavior and was afraid that the latter would publicize it to brag.
"Don't worry about me, kid; I'm not stupid, just very happy. I only behave like this at home, but my mouth is very strictly managed outside."

Father Su glared at his son jokingly, but he did feel very relieved about him. He had been afraid that this kid would become arrogant, but it seemed that he had worried too much. This kid was more mature than anticipated.
"Haha! I was just saying."
"Let's go into the living room, and you can tell me in detail about the exam today."
He finally calmed himself down and went into the house.
"Okay, you go first, dad. I'll bring Purple Jade with me right away."
"Okay."
Su Bai returned to his room and picked up his pet, which happened to be stealing his phone. The lass raised its head and looked at him with big, purple eyes; it was now holding the phone with its paws while looking pitiful.
"Don't worry; I won't take it away. Still, you must work hard if you want to have your own phone."
He gently caressed its chin. No matter what animal it was, its chin being rubbed would feel very good to it.
"Howl!"
The cub nodded, indicating that it would train harder.
He glanced at the hero played by the cub and saw that the character had eight kills, two deaths, and five assists. Looking at its opponents and their negative records, it was just too real. They could not even win against a pet, yet they were still spraying crazy codewords.
Fortunately, the cub did not seem to mind and was still having a lot of fun.
When they came into the living room, Su Bai and his father talked about the test process today.
They had just finished speaking when Mother Su and his younger brother returned.
"Impressive, brother! You've really brought us glory today." Su Yue put down his things and walked to his older sibling with a shocked face. He had been on the road when he heard about the situation from his mother. Similarly, he received a great deal of shock regarding his older brother.
Everyone at home thought that Su Bai was only giving the exam a shot, but who knew that he had gone there with full confidence of passing it?
He was simply too impressive.
"My son is too amazing. I'll cook a big meal for you; let's talk while eating."
Mother Su, who was feeling elated, felt that she was a lot younger.
Soon, the meal was ready. The older woman had quickly whipped up a dozen delicious dishes. They ate and chatted, all praising and expressing their surprise to Su Bai.
"The reservoir contract operation permit will be sent over in two days' time. Your mother and I's original plan is to use the spiritual power leaking out from the bottom reservoir to breed a large number of very popular food monsters on the market.
"We'll then use the surrounding mountains and forests to develop various spiritual plants. What do you two think?"
Father Su asked while eating.
"It's not bad, but we can still plan it in detail. After all, with the mountains and forests contracted as well, there are many things we can do. It's best to build a manor directly with the reservoir as the center.
"Once I have my pet and a pharmacist certificate, I can research and establish our unique pharmacy brands. It'll be our small family business."
Su Yue thought for a while and suggested.
"That's a good suggestion. Since we're going to start, we might as well go all out and make it more decent. We'll borrow some money and directly include all the nearby areas in our renovations. We'll then build a family manor and design the interior.
"I prefer collecting weird pets, so you can allocate some space for me to keep them.
"Leave the planning of the estate to me, too; I'll ask some seniors from the Trainer Association for help.
"Dad, mom, don't be afraid of the large amount of loans. When the time comes, we can supervise the construction according to the plan and then directly register a company, which we'll eventually develop into our industry."
Su Bai concluded.
"I thought this way, too, but your mother said that since you have walked so far on this road, we should just run the reservoir casually and use the loan to train your pets. I think that's a good idea as well. It won't be too late to develop the reservoir once you have risen in power," said his father thoughtfully.
"You don't need to worry about me. I can earn money to raise my pets; I don't need the loans.
"On the contrary, when you guys manage a manor, it'll help me more in the future…"
After a round of discussions, both adults finally followed their sons' wishes and intended to try their best in making a large manor out of the reservoir.

Primal Adaptation
The story of a little soul that ends up tangled in the games and bets of entities that utilize beasts of any primordial planet as a game avatar to make the Perfect Primal. This tale is not only its story because it will also share its destiny with the entity that will help it in its journey, and together they will rise from their particular situations one way or another. Primal Adaptation is a history with some RPG elements in it, but the MC can't look at a status screen or skill page because it's a beast through and through. I have implemented an evolution system for all the creatures of this story, where they grow or mutate depending on what they consume. In this tale, you won't find a Deus ex machina to give the protagonist power-ups. Everything must be learned and comprehended before its use unless it's something it gets immediately, or the abilities get understood by instinct. In essence, it is survival and gambit for opportunities, be it from one MC or the other.
