Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 26

"What do you think? Do you want to join me?"
Su Bai looked at Chen Rouxue. The two of them together stood a chance of winning the championship.
"Sure, let's do it. I'll just treat it as training for Xiao Bai." The girl agreed without hesitation. The registration fee was only a few hundred yuan, anyway, and it would be nice to broaden her horizons.
"Good, then let's practice cooperating next. I think we have a chance of winning," he said. "If we do win, I'll treat you to a big meal."
Although his relationship with her was very strong, he was usually unwilling to trouble others, but for the sake of earning money and for Purple Jade's continued training to be stronger, he could only make such a bold move.
"Don't jump ahead of yourself. I'm hungry, so let's go eat now." She urged him.
"Okay."
He picked up the cub and rubbed its little head. "Next time, you have to discuss with me if you want to sign up for a competition."
"Howl~~ (@ ̄ー ̄@)"
The cub tilted its head away. It felt like such a diligent and thrifty spirit housekeeper, but not only did Ah Bai neglect to praise it, he still wanted to deprive it of its fruits of labor. Hmph.
"Fine, if you win the championship, I'll buy you a big tablet." Su Bai caressed its head, completely aware of his pet's thoughts.
"Howl!"
The cub waved its furry and fleshy paws, motioning that it wanted to eat more.
"Okay, no problem, but we have to win the competition first, so you must train hard." He nodded.
"Howl! " For the sake of small money, the cub had already made up its mind to work hard. Once it had money, it would go on strike, take a good rest, and reward itself. Even if Ah Bai begged it, it would not go out to train.
This was the cub's secret plan at heart.
Su Bai did not know what the cub was planning. He put it on his shoulder and then went to dinner with Chen Rouxue.
The two of them did not eat any luxurious meals. Instead, they found a ramen restaurant and ordered two bowls of beef ramen. After their meal, they strolled for a while to digest the food.

"I realized that you've become much more mature now."
Chen Rouxue looked at him with bright eyes. She could feel the change in him.
This change had happened during the time when he was incubating his pet at home. Previously, Su Bai had always looked a little confused and carefree as if nothing mattered to him.
Now, his eyes no longer held a hazy look. In fact, his dark and bright irises seemed to hold purpose, and his ideas and actions had become more assertive.
"Haha, really? Hmm, maybe it's because I want to be a powerful summoner and witness the world."
The boy laughed. "Or am I getting more handsome?"
"You're so thick-skinned." She smirked.
"Let's go play rock gambling. I'll buy one for you to open." Su Bai suggested. He had no money and wanted to open a rock to make some.
Although this was not a long-term solution, it could effectively relieve his temporary financial strain, or else the cub would have no meal.
"I don't want to go; I have bad luck and have never ever won the lottery." Chen Rouxue shook her head. "I might as well buy snacks with the money."
"Then watch me open one; I've been feeling lucky these days."
He glanced at her. "You coming?"
"Fine, but I'll go home after you finish with it, or else my grandma will call me again."
Chen Rouxue agreed after thinking for a while.
They quickly walked to the Golden Carp Spirit Market with their pets and entered the gambling hall.
"Young lad, you're here to play rock gambling again? I advise you to stop early. Last time, it's just because you got lucky. Without my skills, you'll only be spending money for nothing."
As soon as he entered the gambling hall, Su Bai met Uncle Zhang, who had performed a handstand while drinking water last time.
"It's okay; I'm just playing around."
He spread his hands; he was paid 1,600 yuan for the rock last time.
"Sigh, you'll only suffer for not listening to a wise man's words." The uncle wearing glasses glanced at Su Bai's female companion and shook his head.
He ignored the middle-aged man and took Chen Rouxue to select rocks.

"What's the matter? You seem to know each other?" asked the girl curiously.
"In a way. Let me tell you…" He explained to her in a hushed voice what had happened previously.
"Wow, you're horrible. You made him embarrass himself in public." Chen Rouxue glanced at the uncle, who was wandering around the hall.
"I didn't want to, but he asked for it. I'm a very decent person." He shrugged.
"Ya right. Would a decent person use such disgusting tactics in a fight?"
The two of them walked across the hall while talking, and Su Bai also picked out two rocks.
"I feel that there's something inside these." He looked at the two stones on the cutting table.
In fact, there were indeed things in the two rocks. He was not afraid of being investigated even if he continued to open things.
Besides, it was just a few thousand yuan. People would not even bother to investigate him.
"You're that confident?" asked Chen Rouxue.
"Of course, I've been very lucky recently!"
Su Bai looked up.
"Young lad, don't count your chickens before they hatch. The probability of you obtaining something from this stone is very small. There's no hope."
Uncle Zhang pushed his glasses. From his experience, these rocks had nothing inside. The kid had only gotten lucky the previous time.
Soon, the first rock was cut, and even the staff received a shock. "Oh, my God! There's a Tier 1 low-grade ore inside. The reselling price is 20,000 yuan."
Uncle Zhang: Σ(っ°Д°;)っ
"Young lad, you're rather lucky. You opened another thing." The uncle scratched his head in embarrassment. "I don't believe that you'll get something again if the other rock is cut open."
"Wow, you're really lucky! Impressive!" Chen Rouxue looked at the silver-white ore and nudged her friend excitedly. This guy had really shown off this time, and his luck was too nature-defying.
Without saying anything, Su Bai opened the second rough rock to reveal a Tier 2 warlord-level beast bone inside.
"The warlord-level beast bone… Its reselling price is 30,000 yuan!" The person-in-charge of cutting rocks was so shocked he even spoke in disbelief.
"Master! You're definitely a hidden master of opening rocks. Master, please accept me as a disciple!"
The uncle next to him took a deep breath then directly held his fists and bowed three times to pay for apprenticeship. This was definitely a young master of opening rocks. As long as he could learn something from him, he needed not worry in his entire lifetime.
"Oh, my God; please don't do this, uncle. I'm not some master of opening rocks." Su Bai quickly avoided him. This uncle was too showy. Was he not just taunting him just a few seconds ago? Now, he was paying for an apprenticeship from him.
No, no. No one really thought that he was a master of opening stones, right?
"Su Bai, are you really a master?" Chen Rouxue fell into suspicion as well, though she thought that it was quite impossible.
"Of course not; I'm really just feeling lucky." He shrugged and turned to the staff. "I want to exchange all these with money."
The sum of 50,000 yuan was enough to cultivate Purple Jade over the next five or six days.
...
"Do you really not have a knack?"
After finally getting out of the gambling hall, Chen Rouxue glanced at him and asked again.
"Naturally. I actually didn't expect to open two things in a row. Lady Luck is really shining upon me."
Su Bai shrugged, thinking that when he had time in the future, he would directly go to the rock gambling association and try acquiring a master gambler's certificate.
"Well, I'm jealous of your luck. You must have burned your luck for the next few decades. Lady Luck is extremely short-lived, so be careful."
The girl gave him a look. This kind of thing could not be helped. Some people angered others with their luck.
"Okay, I'm leaving now. Goodbye." After chatting for a while, Chen Rouxue walked to her electric car and waved goodbye to him.
"Okay."
Su Bai nodded and rode his electric scooter home with the cub.

Necromancer and Co.
In a time before the existence of the present, the gods decided to create a plane of existence where all their creations could exist in the same place. In it, all would be fair, and all gaps between races and technological advancements could be crossed with a single system that the gods had created. Every year, the gods would choose a new race to put in their land, and in this new group of beautifully unlucky people, Alen, his friends, and a few people from Earth have finally met their turn to be tossed into the playground of the gods. Unfortunately though, Alen was thrust into a forest of corpse-eating bears and horribly smelly undead on his first day, one of the many danger-zones of the continent the gods had chosen to throw them in. It would be easy to say that he simply died within the first day, or that he'd starved to death or whatever, but let's be honest... That story would be no fun to tell, yes? (Re-write of my first fiction with the same name.)
