Chapter 455 - In a Matter of Seconds!
From the oval room atop the highest position of the Mage’s Tower in the Dark Expanse, the eyes of Edrusim shone with surprise as he looked at the ongoing battle.
It had begun similarly to the others where the combatants adorned themselves with the energy of fate, one of the surprises being that the adornment that Crixus had was different from everyone else drastically.
A golden robe wrapped around him as one could observe a brilliant circle shield of light protecting him, in his left hand holding a huge tower shield while his right hand held a flail! Three bright hammers rotated around him peacefully as he stood in the skies grandiosely.
This transformation brought surprise to the eyes of many Celestials, and even those watching from the Dark Expanse as they were also familiar of the abilities of Celestials.
Adorned with this armament, Crixus went on to completely dominate the other genius known as Elias, the proficiency of this opponent in the law of fate and his Fate Lines spilling above 150,000 not being able to deal any damage to the heavily protected Crixus, yet the flail that this brilliantly shining being was attacking with let out deadly attacks that slowly broke down his defenses.
When Elias was about to release an all-out attack to try and overpower Crixus with pure Fate Essence, something unexpected happened as the people nearby could barely pick up a whisper of a word!
[Sever].
SHAA!
At the speed of light, rays of destructive purple-blue Aether erupted out from Crixus as they completely wiped away the fate essence released by his opponent, half of the Aether Rays going on to pierce the shoulder of Elias as he felt his energy overturned and move chaotically!
He stared at Crixus in shock as he knew if his enemy had chosen to aim those powerful Aether Rays anywhere other than his shoulder, he would have perished.

His gaze hardened as his armament turned into particles of light, his head bowing towards Crixus as he stepped away from the field of battle.
"Winner, Crixus!"
Grandmaster Onillus announced impassively as his eyes shone, looking at the remnants of baleful Aether as he nodded.
The figures watching in the Dark Expanse were also surprised by the appearance of multiple rays of Aether as Edrusim spoke out.
"Something that you would rarely find even in the Letalis Expanse...why is a being proficient in Aether appearing in the Light Expanse?"
His gaze was that of pondering as he turned to the Vampyre Ruler that had the same look as him, his gaze thereafter going to the 2nd Ranked Infernal Lord who actually seemed to have a glimpse of understanding before he began laughing boisterously.
"Haha! Wow, now this is unexpected!"
Edrusim’s eyes sharpened as he asked the laughing Infernal Lord inquisitively.
"What did you find?"
"You all haven’t come across Aether in its natural form or when it is used by a being unless you traversed the Letalis Expanse, so you might not really be able to tell the difference when looking at it. This Aether that this Crixus released...haha, I have seen a similar type before!"
A look of enjoyment appeared on the Infernal Lord’s face as he laughed and spoke thoughtfully.
"Of course, this is only a guess and I could be wrong but...I’m curious to know why a being connected to THAT is playing around with the Celestials."
Edrusim’s face became sour as the Infernal Lord did not give any straight answers, asking once more for clarification.
"What exactly did you find out?"
"Hmm? It’s probably nothing, Young Edrusim. Come, let us keep on watching. This might not be a waste of time after all."
An inquisitive Genius Magician and a lazy Infernal Lord watched on with more attention to the Battle of Geniuses continuing in the Celestial Realm, another pair of names being called forth as the battles continued!

In the perimeters of the circular arena, Noah was standing with Athena as the senior sister continued to speak with him telepathically.
"Very few beings will be able to counter your Aether strikes, especially now that there’s multiple of them. When did that happen?"
The gaze of the War Princess was filled with light as she asked, the battle going on in front of them being reflected in their eyes as another two Genius Celestials were fighting resplendently.
"I don’t only make breakthroughs in the law of fate you know. Aether was the thing that got Grandmaster Vredral to take notice of me, and it’s still the thing that has the most firepower in my arsenal! I’m afraid even you might not be able to handle it, Senior Sister."
"Hmph, you have your talents and I have mine. We will see!"
The strong-willed voice of the War Princess travelled to his mind as the battle in front of them wrapped up, another winner being declared.
"Three-Eyed Fate Child and Volador, you’re next!"
Grandmaster Onillus continued the battles swiftly as murmurs spread throughout the clearing, many beings paying attention to this Celestial that was known as a Special Existence!
The Three-Eyed Fate Child stepped forward with light steps, his gaze looking coldly towards the other genius Celestial known as Volador. His three eyes stood on his tan skin eerily, dark hair flowing down to his shoulders as he had the wild look of an unkempt beast.
The one called Volador was also at the Domain Expansion Realm, being a genius that amassed 200,000 Fate Lines in less than a hundred years!
He saw the gaze of the Special Existence as he steeled his heart, preparing to go all out the instant the battle began as he wanted to give it his best, even if the strength of this being was insane as many foretold.
Grandmaster Onillus watched the cold faced Three-Eyed Fate Child with a light smile as he nodded happily for the first time before he initiated the battle.
"Start!"
SHAA!
The instant that Volador heard the command to start the battle, he moved his essence to begin summoning Empyrean Guards, but his words were caught in his throat as his eyes opened wide, shockingly somehow finding the Three-Eyed Fate Child already standing a few inches away from him!
His hand was raised as a dark blade of light that palpated with the aura of Space and Time was actually held against the neck of Volador, this genius Celestial feeling a sharp pain just from the edge of the blade stationed at his neck.
"..."
Silence reigned in the field of battle as the eerie eyes of the Special Existence stared at his enemy with a blade ready to strike. Were this actually a real battle, this young genius Celestial would have fallen right here and now without even understanding why!
"Winner, Three-Eyed Fate Child!"
WAAAAA!
The dark blade of light dissipated into lights as Volador looked towards the back of the already leaving Special Existence with a terror-filled gaze.
Those with normal cultivation levels were still looking at this scene in shock as they did not understand what had just occurred, just knowing the battle had ended in less than 5 seconds!
This was the power of the being proficient in two Supreme Laws! This was the power of the Special Existence that cultivated the Law of Spacetime and the Law of Fate!

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
